Abstract

This study aims to improve the speaking skills of students in class X.10 at SMAN 3 Pontianak by applying storytelling techniques through the use of TikTok. This study was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method and involved 34 students as participants. The study was conducted in two cycles, with adjustments made to the implementation based on the difficulties identified in the first cycle to encourage application and adjustment in the second cycle, thus improving the overall results. The results of the study showed a positive impact on students' speaking skills after implementing storytelling activities through TikTok. This improvement was reflected in both the learning process and learning outcomes. Throughout the process, students demonstrate greater focus, enthusiasm, and participation in classroom activities. These results indicate that digital platforms like TikTok can function not only as entertainment tools but also as innovative and relevant media for improving English speaking skills in an educational context.

Abstract

Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) merupakan bentuk implementasi Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi yang menekankan integrasi antara pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Desa Titi Payung, Kecamatan Air Putih, Kabupaten Batubara, memiliki potensi sosial-keagamaan yang kuat, namun masih menghadapi tantangan dalam aspek literasi Al-Qur’an di kalangan remaja serta rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pengelolaan lingkungan berbasis keberlanjutan. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi keagamaan melalui program Tahsin Al-Qur’an berbasis masjid serta menumbuhkan kesadaran ekologis masyarakat melalui pengelolaan sampah berbasis komunitas. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR) yang dilaksanakan selama 40 hari melalui tahapan pemetaan masalah, perencanaan tindakan, pelaksanaan program, serta refleksi dan evaluasi bersama masyarakat. Program Tahsin dilaksanakan secara rutin menggunakan metode talaqqi bagi remaja masjid, sedangkan program lingkungan difokuskan pada edukasi pengelolaan sampah berbasis konsep Reduce, Reuse, dan Recycle (3R) serta pembentukan bank sampah tingkat dusun yang melibatkan kelompok PKK. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan kualitas bacaan Al-Qur’an remaja masjid dengan tingkat keberhasilan mencapai 85% serta revitalisasi fungsi masjid sebagai pusat pendidikan nonformal. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat dalam kegiatan gotong royong lingkungan, terbentuknya unit bank sampah, serta meningkatnya kesadaran ekologis berbasis nilai keislaman. Pengabdian ini juga berkontribusi pada penguatan tata kelola administrasi desa, stabilitas sosial, toleransi antarumat beragama, dan literasi ekonomi syariah. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pendekatan integratif berbasis masjid dan partisipasi masyarakat efektif dalam mendorong transformasi sosial dan pembangunan desa berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The commitment of lecturers is crucial for maintaining the sustainability and quality of higher education institutions, especially due to a rapid development in technology and escalating worldwide competition. This study aims to analyse the impact of organizational culture, digital literacy, and work ethic on lecturers' commitment to their work in universities in Langsa City. A quantitative study design utilizing a survey methodology was implemented. Data were gathered from 120 instructors at Universitas Cut Nyak Dhien employing structured questionnaires. The data were examined by multiple linear regression analysis. The findings demonstrate that organizational culture exerts a favourable and significant influence on lecturers' work dedication. Digital literacy presents a substantial and major impact on work commitment, whereas work ethic positively and significantly enhances lecturers' commitment. Organizational culture, digital literacy, and work ethic concurrently influence lecturers' dedication to their work. The findings underscore the necessity of fortifying organizational culture, augmenting digital literacy skills, and cultivating a robust work ethic as strategic initiatives to enhance lecturers' commitment at higher education institutions.

Abstract

Listening skills are fundamental abilities in English language learning, which include the ability to accurately receive, understand, and interpret spoken language. The aspects of listening assessed in this study were identifying main ideas, identifying specific information, making inferences, and spelling vocabulary. The Cake application is a language learning platform designed to support foreign language acquisition. Some features that can be used to teach students’ listening skills are video lessons, quizzes, and video history. In this research, only the teacher used the Cake application during lessons, while students were not permitted to access or use the application either during or outside classroom hours. This approach was intended to maintain instructional control and ensure that improvements resulted from guided use rather than independent practice. This research aims to investigate the effect of the use of Cake application in teaching listening skill and to find out the effect size of its implementation. This research uses a pre-experimental design with one-group pre-test and post-test. The research participants were tenth-grade students at SMAN 2 Teluk Keramat and the sample was selected using cluster random sampling which consisted of 28 students. The data was collected using tests given to students before and after the treatment. The results showed an increase in the average score from 68.21 on the pre-test to 75.18 on the post-test. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test showed a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test (T = 17.5 t-critical = 46). The effect size value was 0.72, which indicates a large effect. This finding concludes that the use of the Cake application in teaching listening skill has a significant effect, therefore the Cake application can be used as an alternative medium for teaching English in the classroom

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of spelling errors in Facebook posts. In this research, there were four categories of spelling errors used such as addition, omission, substitution and ordering. In addition, the research object used was types of a random Facebook posts on group English Learning such as text status updates, comment posts, and photo posts and that consisted of thirty posts as the object of this research. This study used a descriptive-qualitative method. It can be concluded from the result of this research that the dominant spelling errors found was omission. In addition, other classifications of spelling errors also found were addition, substitution, and ordering.

Abstract

Diospyros celebica Bakh. merupakan salah satu jenis eboni yang memiliki nilai ekonomi tinggi di pasar nasional maupun internasional. Namun, eksploitasi yang berlangsung sejak tahun 1920 telah menyebabkan penurunan populasi dan kerusakan habitat alami jenis ini. Pemahaman mengenai kondisi tempat tumbuh alami, khususnya sifat fisik tanah, menjadi hal penting dalam mendukung konservasi dan pengembangan budidaya eboni. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Ako, Kecamatan Pasangkayu, Sulawesi Barat, menggunakan metode survei. Pengambilan sampel tanah dilakukan secara purposive sampling pada dua jenis tegakan (murni dan campuran) pada dua kedalaman (0–30 cm dan 30–60 cm). Parameter yang diukur meliputi tekstur, struktur, bobot isi, porositas, dan permeabilitas. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sifat fisik tanah pada kedua jenis tegakan berbeda. Tegakan campuran memiliki karakteristik tekstur, bobot isi, porositas, dan permeabilitas yang lebih baik dibandingkan tegakan murni. Struktur tanah pada kedua tegakan termasuk dalam kategori struktur granular. Perbedaan karakteristik sifat fisik tanah menunjukkan bahwa tipe tegakan memengaruhi kondisi tanah. Informasi ini penting dalam mendukung strategi konservasi dan pengelolaan habitat eboni di masa mendatang.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk menjawab kebutuhan guru-guru Bahasa Inggris tingkat SMP dan sederajat di Kecamatan Sanggau Ledo yang masih menghadapi keterbatasan dalam memanfaatkan teknologi Artificial Intelligence (AI) dalam pembelajaran. Kondisi ini penting karena Kurikulum Merdeka menuntut guru mampu merancang pembelajaran yang kreatif, adaptif, dan berpusat pada peserta didik. Program ini bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam menggunakan platform AI untuk menghasilkan media pembelajaran inovatif. Mitra kegiatan adalah MGMP Bahasa Inggris Kecamatan Sanggau Ledo dengan total 29 peserta dari 11 sekolah. Pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui workshop selama dua hari yang mencakup pemaparan konsep Student-Centered Learning, demonstrasi penggunaan Google AI Studio, Canva Code AI, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, dan Tencent Hunyuan, serta praktik pembuatan gim digital, video animasi, dan model 3D. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam memanfaatkan AI serta tingginya partisipasi selama sesi praktik. Evaluasi angket dengan skor 4–5 menegaskan bahwa kegiatan ini relevan dan bermanfaat bagi peningkatan literasi digital guru. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa AI mampu memperkuat implementasi pembelajaran berbasis SCL dan layak dijadikan model pelatihan yang dapat diperluas.

Abstract

The Let’s Read application was investigated to evaluate its effectiveness on students’ ability to comprehend narrative passages. This research utilizes the pre-experimental approach, involving a one-group design that involved testing participants both prior to and following the intervention. There were 30 students as participants from class VIII A at SMP N 24 Pontianak during the 2023/2024 academic year, selected through cluster sampling. The data were gathered using measurement techniques, with tests used as the research instrument. The results revealed that the Let’s Read application helps students comprehend narrative text. The treatments affected the post-test average (79,75), which was higher than the pre-test average (61,17). A t-test analysis produced a score of 12.55, which exceeded the critical value of 1.699 with 29 degrees of freedom and a 0.05 alpha level. This finding contradicted the initial hypothesis and confirmed the researcher's alternative hypothesis. In addition, the calculated effect size was 2.174, indicating a strong impact, as it was beyond the 0.5 range of effect sizes. Therefore, the study concludes that the implementation of Let’s Read as an alternative media was effective in helping students comprehend the narrative text.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a chronic health problem of major concern due to its increasing prevalence and impact on morbidity and mortality. Cucumber, also known as Cucumis sativus, is a local food ingredient readily available. Methods: This study involved providing health education to patients and their families and administering cucumber juice for 7 days. Evaluation was based on blood pressure measurements. Results: Blood pressure decreased following health education and cucumber juice consumption, and mothers and families improved their understanding of hypertension, its risk factors, and complications. They also gained a better understanding of the importance of self-administering non-pharmacological hypertension treatment at home. Conclusion: Mothers demonstrated a decrease in blood pressure after administering 200 ml of cucumber juice daily for seven consecutive days.
