Abstrak Latar Belakang. Penurunan fungsi tubuh dan gangguan organ akan memengaruhi karakteristik pasien lansia dengan kanker. Beberapa karakteristik pasien memengaruhi pemberian kemoterapi pada pasien lansia. Objektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik pasien lanjut usia yang akan menjalani kemoterapi pertama di RSUP M Djamil, Padang. Metode. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Data penelitian didapatkan dari rekam medik. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 110 pasien lansia yang akan menjalani kemoterapi pertama di RSUP dr. M. Djamil Padang periode Januari 2017 – Juli 2018. Hasil. Sebagian besar pasien berada di kelompok usia 60 - 69 tahun (78,2%) serta memiliki kadar haemoglobin dan hematokrit dibawah batas normal (73,6% dan 70% secara berurutan). Kesimpulan. Sebagian besar pasien berada di kelompok usia lansia muda dan memiliki nilai hemoglobin dan kadar hematokrit dibawah batas normal, sedangkan karakteristik lainnya cenderung normal. Kata kunci: Lansia, Kanker, Kemoterapi Abstract Background. Decreased body function and organ dysfunction will affect the characteristic of elderly patients with cancer. Some characteristics will affect the chemotherapy given in elderly patients. Objective. This study discussed the characteristics of elderly patients who received the first chemotherapy in RSUP dr. M. Djamil Padang. This research is an observational descriptive study with a cross sectional design. Methods.The research data was obtained from the patient's medical record. The research sample consisted of one hundred and ten elderly patients who received first chemotherapy at RSUP dr. M. Djamil Padang period January 2017 - July 2018. Result. Most of the patients were in the age group 60 - 69 years (78.2%) and had hemoglobin levels and hematocrit below the normal limit (73.6% and 70% respectively). Conclusion. Most of patients were in the young elderly age group and had hemoglobin values and hematocrit levels below the normal range, while other characteristics tend to be normal. Identifikasi Senyawa Natrium Benzoat pada Cabai Merah Giling yang Dijual di Pasar Raya Kota Padang Zakiya Zar'a; Elmatris Elmatris; Laila Isrona

Background. Red chili is a spice that is consumed by many people, in the form of fruit or grinded. Grinded red chili has a low shelf life and is easily overgrown by destructive microorganisms, therefore it needs preservatives such as sodium benzoate which can inhibit the destruction. Based on regulation of National Agency of Drug and Food Control Republic of Indonesia No. 36/2013, the maximum limit of sodium benzoate in seasoning is 0.6 g/kg. Objective. to identify sodium benzoate and its level in grinded red chili has been sold in Pasar Raya Padang based on BPOM standard. Methods. The type of research is descriptive research, conducted at UPTD Balai Laboratorium Kesehatan Sumatera Barat from September 2019 to July 2020. The research sample consisted of 35 samples obtained by total sampling method. Results. All of grinded red chilies used as sample were positive containing sodium benzoate. Average levels of sodium benzoate in grinded red chili is 0,144 g/kg. The level of sodium benzoate in each sample is below National Agency of Drug and Food Control Republic of Indonesia standard (<0,6 g/kg). Conclusion. All samples of grinded red chilies were positive containing sodium benzoate with appropriate levels as stated in National Agency of Drug and Food Control Republic of Indonesia provision. Hubungan Kadar Hemoglobin Ibu Hamil Trimester 3 dengan Antropometri Padang dan Skor APGAR di RSUP. DR. M. Djamil Padang Muhammad Alhardi Nurdin; Yusrawati Yusrawati; Elmatris Elmatris

Hemoglobin is one of the most important parts of blood in pregnant women because hemoglobin supplies oxygen and nutrients throughout the body, including the fetus a mother is carrying. If the hemoglobin level is outside of the normal range, newborn babies will have abnormal anthropometric features and APGAR scores. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between hemoglobin in pregnant women with anthropometry and APGAR score of newborns. This study uses a retrospective analytics method and is supported by statistical analysis using the Pearson correlation test to obtain the relationship of independent variables with dependent variables. From 100 patient data taken, we found a significant relationship with a weak correlation for the relationship of hemoglobin of pregnant women with infant weight, a significant relationship with a weak correlation for the relationship of hemoglobin of pregnant women with body length, a significant relationship with a weak correlation for the relationship of pregnant women with the circumference of a baby's head, a significant association with a weak correlation for the relationship of hemoglobin in pregnant women with an APGAR score of 5 ', and a meaningful relationship with a weak correlation for an association of hemoglobin in a pregnant woman with an APGAR score of 10'. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between hemoglobin in third trimester pregnant women with anthropometry and APGAR score of newborns. Latar Belakang: Perona pipi merupakan kosmetik yang banyak digunakan oleh wanita, salah satu bahan berbahaya yang dapat terkandung dalam perona pipi adalah Rhodamin B yang digunakan pada industri tekstil, kertas, dan cat. Paparan secara langsung Rhodamin B pada kulit dapat menghambat proliferasi fibroblas sehingga kulit menjadi kering dan penyerapan secara sistemik dapat menyebabkan gangguan pada hepar. Objektif: Mengidentifikasi kandungan Rhodamin B pada perona pipi yang beredar di Kecamatan Lubuk Begalung Kota Padang. Metode: Identifikasi kualitatif kandungan Rhodamin B dilakukan menggunakan Rapid Test Kit Rhodamin B yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Biokimia Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas. Hasil: Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan dari 13 sampel perona pipi yang beredar di Kecamatan Lubuk Begalung Kota Padang lebih dari separuh sampel (61,5%) merupakan perona pipi yang terdaftar dalam BPOM dan kurang dari separuh (38,5%) merupakan perona pipi yang tidak terdaftar dalam BPOM. Kesimpulan: Dari penelitian ini disimpulakan hanya satu sampel yang positif mengandung Rhodamin B yaitu dari sampel perona pipi yang terdaftar dalam BPOM.

Latar Belakang: Kanker kulit merupakan salah satu kanker yang paling sering terjadi di dunia. Kanker kulit sering terjadi pada bagian tubuh yang sering terpapar sinar matahari. Sinar matahari memiliki radiasi ultraviolet yang merupakan salah satu paparan karsinogen utama di tempat kerja. Kemungkinan seseorang terkena kanker kulit dapat dilihat dari jenis pekerjaannya. Objektif: Mengetahui hubungan jenis pekerjaan dengan kanker kulit serta melihat distribusi frekuensi pasien kanker kulit berdasarkan usia dan jenis kelamin. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional dengan desain case control. Sampel penelitian adalah pasien kanker kulit di RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang tahun 2015 – 2020. Hasil: Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari 31 pasien kanker kulit sebagian besar berusia > 60 tahun yaitu sebanyak 16 orang (51,6%) dan juga berjenis kelamin laki-laki yaitu sebanyak 18 orang (58,1%). Pasien kanker kulit paling banyak merupakan pekerja luar ruangan yaitu sebanyak 18 orang (58,1%). Hasil dari penelitian ini menggunakan uji chi-square dan didapatkan nilai p = 0,002. Kesimpulan: Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara jenis pekerjaan dengan kanker kulit di RSUP Dr. M. DJamil Padang tahun 2015 – 2020.

Latar Belakang: Kemunculan virus COVID-19 diakhir bulan Desember 2019 telah berdampak besar pada dunia. Badan Kesehatan Dunia telah mendeklarasikan status pandemi yang mengkhawatirkan dunia, pada Maret 2020. Virus COVID-19 dapat ditularkan oleh pasien bergejala maupun tanpa gejala. Minimnya pengetahuan dan sikap terhadap COVID-19 mengakibatkan kasus COVID-19 terus meningkat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran pengetahuan dan sikap pasien COVID-19 di Puskesmas Ambacang periode 2020-2021. Objektif: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran pengetahuan dan sikap pasien COVID-19 terhadap COVID-19 di Puskesmas Ambacang. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Sampel penelitian adalah 212 orang pasien terkonfirmasi COVID-19 di puskesmas Ambacang yang ditentukan dengan metode Systematic Random Sampling. Hasil: Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa sebanyak 67,5% sudah memiliki pengetahuan cukup baik tentang COVID-19. Sebanyak 97,2% responden memiliki sikap yang baik dalam pencegahan dan penularan COVID-19. Kesimpulan: Lebih dari separuh responden sudah cukup baik dalam mengetahui pencegahan dan penularan COVID-19. Pada umumnya responden memiliki sikap yang baik dalam pencegahan dan penularan COVID-19.

Objective: To determine the relationship between levels of physical activity and the nutritional status of the year 2019 undergraduate medical students at Andalas University during the COVID-19 pandemic; Method: This study was a quantitative study using a cross-sectional method with 151 respondents held in September 2022 at Medical Faculty Andalas University. The study used an IPAQ-short form questionnaire to ensure the levels of physical activities and direct anthropometry to measure the nutritional status. Analysis between the physical activity data and the nutritional status data was tested using the Pearson chi-square test; Result: The result of the study showed that 42,4% of respondents have low physical activity, 44,4% of respondents have normal nutritional status, the chi-square test between physical activity and nutritional status of was p=0,349; Conclusion: there was no significant relationship between levels of physical activity and the nutritional status of undergraduate medical students at Andalas University during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is suggested that improving physical activity amongst undergraduate students is highly encouraged as it prevents non-communicable diseases.

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the effect of administering Mesenchymal Stem Cell Wharton Jelly (MSC-WJ) on the histological appearance of the pancreas of rat in a type 1 diabetes mellitus model. Methods: This research is an experimental research with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 3 groups (Normal, T1DM, T1DM + MSC-WJ). The treatment group was treated with MSC-WJ for 4 weeks. Data analysis used One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Bonferroni tests. Results: WJ-MSC can increase the mean diameter and area of the islets of Langerhans in the T1DM rat group from 98.08 mm – 126.85 mm and from 4911.95 mm2 – 8995.35 mm2, but this difference is not yet significant (p > 0.05). Conclusion This research shows that there is improvement in pancreatic damage by administering WJ-MSC to diabetic rat due to alloxan induction.

Background: Free radicals are atoms or molecules with one or more unpaired electrons. Lead acetate has been reported to increase the presence of free radicals in the body. Objective: This study aims to investigate the effect of oral administration of jamblang (Syzygium cumini) leaf extract on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) serum levels in rats induced with lead acetate. Methods: A total of 24 male rats were divided into three groups: the negative control, the positive control, and the treatment group. The negative control group received a standard diet, the positive control group received lead acetate at a dose of 40 mg/kg body weight, and the treatment group received lead acetate at the same dose along with jamblang leaf extract at a dose of 150 mg/kg body weight. Lead acetate and jamblang leaf extract administration was carried out for 30 days. Afterward, serum H2O2 levels were examined using the colorimetry method. Results: Results revealed that H2O2 levels in the negative control, positive control, and treatment groups were 3.08±0.24, 4.94±0.75, and 3.44±0.65 nmol/L, respectively. Significant differences were observed between the groups, as well as between the negative control and positive control, and between the positive control and treatment group. Conclusion: The study showed that jamblang leaf extract can reduce hydrogen peroxide levels in Wistar rats treated with lead acetate, indicating its ability to address oxidative stress.

The majority of people of Nagari Carocok Anau Kec. Tarusan Kab. Pesisir Selatan worked as a fisherman, farmer, a small number of civil servants and market traders, as well as a housewife. Pregnant women in Nagari Carocok Anau, most of whom are housewives, still do not receive health checks such as haemoglobin (Hb) checks. This activity aims to increase knowledge among the public and health cadres regarding anaemia and Hb examination in pregnant women, as well as treatment. The health of pregnant women is checked by checking blood pressure, Hb and medication. This Hb examination is an effort to minimize abnormalities that can occur in pregnant women and fetuses due to low Hb when the mother is pregnant. The examination results showed that more than half of the pregnant women (71.43%) who attended were in the age range 18 – 35 years. Nearly half (42.86%) of pregnant women had Hb levels below the normal limit (11 mg/dl). For a more valid diagnosis, it is necessary to carry out quantitative analysis from the hospital laboratory so that follow-up can be carried out. Education about anaemia and Hb examinations in pregnant women can increase people's knowledge so that preventive measures can be carried out early. Health checks on the general public (blood pressure, Hb) and treatment were also carried out, it was found that the Hb results were within normal limits.
