Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of implementing procedures and monitoring functions on vessel safety at Nunukan Port. This study uses a quantitative approach using the smart partial least squares (PLS) method. This method analyzes quantitative data and models the relationships between the variables involved in the study. The study results were obtained by analysis using the Smart PLS method. First, there is a positive correlation between the implementation of effective management procedures at Port Nunukan and the level of vessel safety. This means that the better the control procedures are implemented, the higher the level of vessel safety that can be achieved. In addition, the study found that proper training of port personnel has a positive impact on vessel safety. A port officer with sufficient knowledge and skills to carry out their supervisory duties can significantly improve the safety level of vessels in Nunukan Port. Furthermore, the study shows that coordination among the various actors involved in maritime management, such as authorities, port officials and ship owners, also has a positive impact on vessel safety. Proper cooperation of all involved will increase the effectiveness of supervision and reduce the risk of accidents.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of professional commitment and work competence on captains' performance in operating the Automatic Identification System (AIS) on the BPSDM Transportation Training Ship. This research uses the mixed methods method, which is a research step combining two forms of research that have existed before, namely qualitative and quantitative research. The data analysis used is structural equation modelling-partial least squares (SEM-PLS) using SmartPLS software. The results showed that the factors influencing professional commitment and work competence on the captain's performance in the operation of the Automatic Identification System (AIS) on the BPSDM Transportation Training Ship included; Personal Factors, Situational Factors, Positional Factors and Team Factors and situations

Abstract

Guiding is part of the navigation or support function in the safety of ship navigation which is caused by the unique characteristics of the port. Quantitative research is a type of research that uses numbers in processing data to produce structured information. Characteristics of quantitative research using the SPSS application, aims to obtain data that describes the characteristics of objects, events or situations (Sekaran & Bougie, 2016:43). Based on partial hypothesis testing, it is known that the assist tug variable has a positive and significant effect on PT performance. Delta Mandiri Batam. This is proven by 0.002 0.05 and a tcount value of 2,343 ttable 1,697. Tug Assist Contribution to Performance 0.305. So it can be concluded that the first hypothesis in this research is accepted. This shows that the more reliable and accurate the quality of service provided by employees during the assist tug process at PT. Delta Mandiri Batam means there will be no quality of service rates for tug-guide services and performance. The influence of assist tug ship operating time has been proven to have a positive and significant effect on performance at the company PT Pelayaran Delta Mandiri Batam, with a regression coefficient of 0.027 and a t-value of 2.343, t -table 1,697.
