Abstract

This research was designed to examine the relationship between Problem Solving Skills (PSS), Emotional Regulation (ER) and Problematic Internet Use (PIU) among junior high school students. As many as 137 students from SMPN 10 Surabaya in the even semester of academic year 2017/2018 were chosen as participants by using quota sampling method.  Data was captured using Problem Solving Inventory (PSI), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA) and Generalized Problematic Internet Use 2 (GPIUS2). Data that has been collected then analyzed using computer program SPSS version 24.00. The statistical results show that there are low but definite negative relationship between PSS and ER on PIU (β = -0.18 and β = -0.21, p < 0.05, respectively). PSS and ER overall explained the 10% variance of PIU.  Based on the results, it can be concluded that the higher level of PIU, the lower level of PSS and ER that students have. Thus further, the current research finding will be discussed later.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and thought stopping techniques to reduce students' consumptive behavior. This experimental study used a pretest posttest group design by involving 14 students of Vocational High School (SMK) Bhakti Nusantara Boja as the members of cognitive restructuring technique group (7 students) and thought stopping technique group (7 students). The results of data analysis using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests showed that cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and thought stopping techniques was effective in reducing students' consumptive behavior. The discussion of the results of this study was directed to reinforce the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and thought stopping techniques to reduce students’ consumptive behavior.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of group guidance services with socio-drama and group discussion techniques towards students’ career planning in Eighth Grade level of Public Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 1 Mejobo Kudus. The study used Pre-post Control Group research design. Meanwhile, the subjects of this study were the Eighth Grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Mejobo Kudus which amounted to 24 students selected by purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that before the group guidance given to the students, their average percentage of career planning was 79.125% (low category). Then, after the group guidance with socio-drama technique was given, the percentage increased to 96.44% (high category). On the one hand, initially, the career planning level of students before receiving group discussion technique obtained the percentage of 65.13% (low category). Meanwhile, after they received given group guidance, the percentage increased to 78.73 (high category). At last, the discussion of the findings of this study was focused on the effectiveness of group guidance with socio-drama and group discussion techniques towards students’ career planning in Eighth Grade level of Public Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 1 Mejobo Kudus.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of group guidance with conflict management technique on students’ interpersonal communication. The experimental design employed was in form of one-group pretest posttest design by involving 10 students. The results of Cohen d effectiveness test with the effectiveness measurement of 0.885 revealed the relatively high effectiveness found in the implementation of group guidance with conflict management technique to improve interpersonal communication. Meanwhile, based on the paired t-test, it was known that there was an increase in students’ interpersonal communication within the implementation of group guidance with conflict management technique (t(9) = 9.192, p < 0.01). According to the findings, the understanding of the mechanisms, knowledge and experience as well as interpersonal communication are the foundation to help students with conflict disorders and further allow for effective interventions. At last, the discussion of this study was focused on the possibility of the implementation of group guidance with conflict management technique to improve students’ interpersonal communication.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship of parental involvement to career decision making self-efficacy with openness as a mediating variable. The sample involved 400 students selected using Cluster Random Sampling technique. Methods of data collection using an adapted psychological scale. Data analysis method used is descriptive analysis and mediation analysis with corrected method bias bootstrap technique with 95% confidential intervals. The results showed that parental involvement predicts career decision making self-efficacy and openness, then openness mediates the relationship of parent involvement and career decision making self-efficacy. This research provides counselors with an understanding of the relationship of parental involvement and the influence of personal aspects (self-efficacy and openness) in career selection.

Abstract

This research aimed to examine the effect of psychoeducational group with modelling technique on career decision self-efficacy to improve the career adaptability of the students of State Junior High School 31 (SMP Negeri 31) in Purworejo City. The method used to cover such objective was experimental method with the research design of prettest-posttest control group design. Moreover, there were as many as n2 18 students chosen by using purposive sampling technique among 94 students. Further, based on the data analysis by using bias corrected bootstrapping SPSS 25 with resampling resulted (N = 5.000), while the estimation of the true direct effect was in the level of 95% of confidence interval. This showed that the psychoeducational group with modelling technique contributed direct impact on career adaptability (β = 5.61; p < 0.01) as well as indirect impact on career adaptability through self-efficacy (β = 7.60, p < 0.05; CI 95% =1.90, 13.86). Through modelling technique, students obtained a picture on the belief of their career direction, abilities, knowledge of their self-potential. They also can plan their future studies which are supported by learning readiness either when they are at school or at home. Based on this research, can prove that strengthening the self-efficacy of career decision would grow up a sense of career expectations conformity which has been possessed and further form the condition of career adaptability so that in the end, one can adapt with their live-span development.

Abstract

This study aimed to know the effectiveness of experiential learning strategy-based group counseling to improve the self-efficacy of the Tenth Grade students of Senior High School (SMA). This study used pre-test – post-test one group design by involving seven students as the sample to form a group chosen by using purposive sampling. For more, treatments for the group were done in the five times session through experiential learning strategy-based group counseling. The collected data from these treatments were analyzed by using Wilcoxson analysis. From the analysis, it was known that the experiential learning strategy-based group counseling was effective to improve self-efficacy (z = -2.366, p = < 0.05). These findings prove that experiential learning strategy-based group counseling is effective to improve students’ self-efficacy.

Abstract

This study was conducted at Public Islamic High School 2 Semarang (MAN 2 Ito examine the effectiveness of Islamic-based REBT approach group counseling to reduce students’ delinquent behaviors. For more, the study belonged to experimental study with the design of pre-test – post-test control group, and involved fourteen eleventh grade students. Their data were collected through the adapted instrument of activities delinquent scale resulted from Paired sample t-test. Based on the results of paired sample t-test, it was known that the Islamic-based REBT approach group counseling was effective to reduce students’ delinquent behaviors (t(6) = 7.36, p < 0.01). This finding confirms that the Islamic-based REBT approach group counseling implemented through akhlak (good character), sholat (Islamic worship), fasting, dhikr, and prayer is effective to reduce students’ delinquent behaviors.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of: (1) Knowing the implementation of group guidance services at Al Iman MTs in Magelang City, (2) Knowing the objective conditions of student self-regulation, (3) produce a model of group guidance services with mind mapping based lite mind mapping techniques to improve self-regulation, (4) determine the effectiveness of group guidance services with mind mapping based lite mind mapping techniques to improve self-regulation of students of MTs Al Iman in Magelang City. The population in this study was the grade IX students of MTs Al Iman in Magelang City which 22 students and used as a sample of 10 students. The research design used pre-experimental: one group pretest-posttest design with purposive sampling. Data analysis technique used is Paired sample t-Test with consideration in this study using one independent variable (Independent Variable). The results of the effectiveness test of this study are the existence of an increase in self-regulation through group guidance services with mind mapping based lite mind mapping techniques. The level of self-regulation of students has increased after participating in group guidance services with mind mapping based lite mind mapping techniques. This is seen from the increase in the results of self-regulation scale before and after being given group guidance services with mindmaple lite based mind mapping technique of 28% and strengthened through effectiveness testing using t-test which shows -t count <-t table, which is -6.040 <- 2,262 or data Sig (0,000) <0,05.

Abstract

The research aims to find great real correlation between achievement motivation and achievement knowing whether or not that affects veriabel moderator corelation achievement motivation with learning. Research conducted on 26 outcome studies on the relationship with learning achievement motivation. Research results show that the correlation with learning achievement motivation is actually 0.256, after correcting the correlation between 0.607 and -0.095 sd moderators are variables that affect the correlation with learning achievement motivation. Correlation for SMP = 0.460, high school = students = 0.175 and 0.258. Correlation based on location: Java = 0.239 and outside Java = 0.268.
