Abstract

Self confidence is important for every individual in order to have prosperity in lilfe. One that lacks self-confidence tends to feel dissatisfied with with himself and easy to give up. In relation to adolescents, they will gain negative impacts if they have got no strong self-confidence. Therefore, this study aimed at analyzing the effectiveness of group counseling with self-talk technique to improve students’ self-confidence. It used pretest and multiple posttest design. Purposive sampling was used to choose 16 experimental subjects placed into two groups, namely experimental group and control group with each group consisted of eight students. Their data were collected using self-confidence scale. According to the results of mixed repeated measures ANOVA, the group counseling with self-talk technique was effective to improve students’ self-confidence indicated by the value of (F (1.09)=2253.85, p < 0.05). These findings comfirm that group counseling with self-talk is able to improve students’ self-confidence.

Abstract

Psychological well-being (PWB) is important for prisoners, considering that they lead different lives and become increasingly depressed by being labeled as criminals by society. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counseling using a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) approach to improve prisoners' PWB. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with repeated measurements (pre-test, post-test, and follow-up). The subjects were 14 Class II A prisoners in Pekalongan, Indonesia, prison, with seven inmates in the experimental group and seven in the control group. They were selected using the purposive sampling technique based on inclusion criteria and low PWB levels obtained from the psychological well-being scale. The study results indicate that group counseling using the SFBT approach is effective in increasing the PWB of prisoner’s pre-test vs. post-test (MD = -64.857, SE = 3.749, p<.05), and post-test vs. follow-up (MD = -71.571, SE = 3.479, p <.05). The study findings could be used as consideration, reference, and an alternative for counselors to use the SFBT approach in dealing with problems related to psychology, especially PWB.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine students’ career understanding on the career decision making self-efficacy of Junior High School students in Central Java Province. The study used qualitative method, comparative test for data analysis, and self-efficacy scale to collect the career decision making data of students who have and have not gained career understanding. In this way, Bandura’s theory of self-efficacy was used as a framework theory, while cluster random sampling was employed to collect the study sample (N = 311). The data collection was done through a direct survey using 25 questions regarding career decision making self-efficacy (CDSE-SF) and career understanding questionnaire. Based on the data analysis, the researchers found significant differences in CDSE-SF results of students who have gained career understanding and not, including (1) Understanding of various alternative jobs (t(311) = 4.911, p < .000), (2) Information on the world of work requirements (t(311) = 4.602, p <.000), (3) Information on job vacancies (t(311) = 4.111, p < .000), and (4) Understanding of job qualifications (t(311) = 3.460, p < .001). These findings recommend the students to improve their career decision making using career guidance and counseling strategies in form of various alternative services, such as career counselling services, group guidance, classroom service, and even support from other parties.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out whether cognitive behavior therapy group counseling was effective to improve control beliefs and reduce students’ academic burnout. This study was experimental research with randomized pretest – posttest control group design. 28 of 427 selected students be the subjects of this study and were divided into 4 groups, including 2 experimental groups and 2 control groups. Manucova analysis and Wilcoxon test were used to analyzed the data of this study. Eventually, the results of this study informed that cognitive behavioral therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring technique was effective to improve control beliefs (F (1.23) = 14.335, p<0.05) and reduce academic burnout (F (1.23) = 556.495, p<0.05). In other words, this study successfully generalized the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy group counseling service with cognitive restructuring technique in improving control beliefs ability and reducing academic burnout.

Abstract

When completing final project, students are faced with many obstacles, such as confusion in determining the topic and difficulties in finding lecturers. Hardiness has an important role to persistently manage and overcome the obstacles. Thus, this study aimed to test the effectiveness of group counseling with self-instruction and cognitive restructuring techniques to improve hardiness of students who were completing their final projects majoring in Islamic Guidance and Counseling program in IAIN Kudus. This study used pretest-posttest control group design involving 21 students selected using purposive sampling. To collect the data, this study used hardiness scale. The results of Wilcoxon test showed that self-instruction technique effectively improved students’ hardiness of (Z= -2.201, P< 0.05) as well as cognitive restructuring technique effectively improved students’ hardiness of (Z= -2.371, P< 0.05). Regarding this findings, both techniques are suggested to be independently applied to improve students’ hardiness.

Abstract

However, this efficacy is not always owned by every single student since there found many students having difficulties in making career decision. Thus, this study tried to examine the effectiveness of psychoeducational group with symbolic modelling and bibliotherapy techniques to improve the career decision making of Junior High School students. In carrying out the study, the researchers employed randomized pretest-posttest comparison group design by involving 42 students divided into three experimental groups. Students’ data were collected using career decision making self-efficacy scale. Based on Wilcoxon test results, the implementation of the psychoeducational groups with symbolic modelling technique, bibliotherapy, and the combination of both techniques were effective to improve students’ career decision making self-efficacy. In details, Kruskal wallis test showed that symbolic modelling and bibliotherapy techniques were more effective than their combination to improve the career decision making self-efficacy of SMP Negeri 6 Bogor students. According to these findings, counselors are recommended to apply symbolic modelling and bibliotherapy techniques separately to improve students’ career decision making self-efficacy

Abstract

Cakupan pemberian ASI eksklusif di Muntilan baru mencapai 11,7%, yang masih jauh dari target nasional 80%. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dibentuklah Kader Pendukung ASI yang terdiri dari kader kesehatan yang sudah terbentuk sebelumnya sehingga mampu menjadi penggerak dan memotivasi ASI eksklusif dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan cakupan ASI eksklusif untuk mendukung terciptanya generasi yang berkualitas dalam mendukung terwujudnya Desa Layak Anak. Metode pelaksanaan dengan pemberdayaan masyarakat partisipatif melalui model Participatory Rural Apraissal (PRA) berupa pendekatan dalam proses pemberdayaan dan peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat. Kegiatan yang dilakukan berupa sosialisasi kegiatan pada seluruh unsur stakeholder yang terkait, pembentukan struktur Kader Pendukung ASI, pelatihan manajemen laktasi secara daring maupun luring terbatas, pendampingan kader praktek keterampilan konseling laktasi, praktek manajemen laktasi di kegiatan PKK desa setempat, selanjutnya dilakukan pendampingan kader pendukung ASI door to door, evaluasi atau monitoring kegiatan melalui post test dan demonstrasi ketrampilan sebagai bentuk evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan ini berupa terbentuknya struktur organisasi Kader Pendukung ASI dengan SK dari Kepala Desa, terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kader dalam manajemen laktasi hasil uji pre post test di uji dengan nilai p= 0,00 (< 0,05) menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan peserta signifikan meningkat. Hasil redemonstrasi menunjukkan bahwa kader kompeten dalam praktek ketrampilan manajemen laktasi dengan rerata nilai 91,5 dalam rentang 100.

Abstract

Public speaking anxiety was experienced by many santriwati in the Roudlotussalam Islamic Boarding School, Banjarnegara Regency. This study aims to to test the effectiveness of group counseling with stress inoculation training and systematic desensitization techniques to reduce public speaking anxiety for santriwati. 21 students involved in experimental research with a randomized pretest-posttest comparison group design. The results of Wilcoxon and Kruskal Wallis tests point out that group counseling using stress inoculation training technique, systematic desensitization technique, and a combination of the two effectively reduce santriwati’s public speaking anxiety. Group counseling with the stress inoculation training technique is more effective to carry out than the systematic desensitization and the combined techniques. This study recommends the use of stress inoculation training technique to reduce students’ public speaking anxiety.

Abstract

Moralitas anak merupakan bentuk perilaku anak yang menunjukkan baik atau buruk, benar atau salah berdasarkan pada nilai-nilai dianut atau dipercayai oleh kelompok msyarakat tertentu. Perilaku moral anak pada dasarnya dibentuk dan dikondisikan oleh lingkungan terutama oleh orang tua. Orang tua mempunyai peran dalam mengembangkan moralitas anak sesuai ajaran dan keyakinan yang dianut serta nilai-nilai yang berlaku di masyarakat. Kegiatan penyuluhan dan pendampingan terhadap orang tua mengenai cara pengembangan moral anak melalui modeling, mampu meningkatkan pemahaman dan pengetahuan orang tua. Dalam proses modeling atau keteladanan , anak mengamati atau melihat sika dan perilaku orang tua, informasi yang diperoleh melalui pengamatan diteruskan ke cortex untuk diproses, hasil pemrosesan informasi dapat digunakan langsung untuk berperilaku dan dapat juga disimpan dalam ingatan untuk digunakan berperilaku pada kesempatan yang akan datang. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan keterampilan orang tua dalam membentuk dan mengembangkan moralitas anak di Desa Menayu Kecamatan Muntilan, kabupaten Magelang, demi mewujudkan “Desa Layak Anak “. Metode yang digunakan adalah Rural Apraissal, dengan pendekatan dalam proses pemberdayaan dan peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat, yang tekanannya pada keterlibatan masyarakat dalam keseluruhan kegiatan. Orang tua yang dilibatkan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini sebanyak 50 orang. Pelaksanaan pengabdian secara rutin dan melalui kelompok-kelompok dengan cara bergantian. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu terjadinya peningkatan kemampuan dan keterampilan orang tua dalam membentuk dan mengembangkan moralitas anak. Kesimpulan, meningkatnya kemampuan dan ketrampilan orang tua dalam mengembangkan moralitas anak dapat mewujudkan Desa Menayu sebagai Desa Layak Anak.
