Abstract

Language is a communication tool to convey and receive messages from individual or group to another person or group of persons. Language acquisition is essentially influenced by factors within individuals and individuals outside. To optimize the development of early childhood language need for stimulation from the environment and not just rely on the existence of internal factors of children. Educators, including parents and teachers must master aspects of the development and characteristics of children so that the stimulation that will produce optimal results.

Abstract

This study attempted to improve students? counseling interests by using a Web medium in form of Cyber Counseling. To achieve such purpose, this study employed one group pre-test post-test design. Meanwhile, the instrument used to collect the data was counseling interest scale. The subjects of this study were 6 students chosen by purposive sampling technique. The researchers analyzed their data by using wilcoxon non-parametric analysis. The results showed that web-based Cyber Counseling effectively improved students? counseling interests (Z= -2.226, p < 0.05). This result asserts that Cyber Counseling has an implication toward the optimization of counselors? roles and professionalism in the utilization of Cyber Counseling for the development of Information and Technology resources development.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and self-instruction techniques to reduce the social anxiety of Public Senior High School 3 Pati. The study used an experimental method with the design of randomized pre-test ? post-test comparison group. Meanwhile, there were 24 students of Public Senior High School 3 Pati who experienced social anxiety involved as the subjects of the study. They were divided into three groups, namely group counseling with cognitive restructuring technique, group counseling with self-instruction technique, and group counseling with the combination of cognitive restructuring and self-instruction techniques. The results showed that cognitive restructuring and self-instruction techniques were able to reduce social anxiety. The combination of both techniques performed more effective in reducing social anxiety than the partial use, namely cognitive restructuring or self-instruction only. Further, this study for counselors implies that they are suggested to use cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and self-instruction techniques to reduce social anxiety of students. Moreover, the implication of the counseling is discussed in the results and discussion chapter.

Abstract

Counseling will be more effective when a counselor understands the cultural background of clients. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the implementation of REBT counseling that is Javanese culture friendly, especially to the adherents of Raden Ngabehi Ronggowarsito? teachings. The study belonged to qualitative research on discourse analysis. The main source this study was the master piece work by Raden Ngabehi Ronggowarsito, namely: Serat Wirid Hidayat Jati, Serat Kalatidha, Serat Sabda Djati, Serat Sabda Tomo, Serat Joko Lodhang, Serat Jayengbaya, Serat Wedharaga. Raden Ngabehi Ronggowarsito?s teachings always include morals and spirituality in life. Even his teachings became the main character in rationality reasoning, so the rationality is relevant to Javanese culture. The results of this study are expected to be implemented in the practice of REBT counseling with a Javanese culture nuance that is a collaboration between REBT and Raden Ngabehi Ronggowarsito? teachings. At last, these findings enrich theories in the context of multicultural counseling.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with behavior contract technique to reduce verbal aggressiveness behavior of MTs students in Kudus Regency. The study used a pre-test post-test one group design. The sample of this study was selected through purposive sampling technique. There were 7 students selected to form a group. They received five times treatment in form of group counseling with behavior contract technique. Meanwhile, the researchers used Wilcoxson analysis to analyze the data. Afterwards, the results of this study proved that group counseling with behavior contract technique effectively reduced verbal aggressive behavior (z = -2.366, p = < 0.05).

Abstract

Self-efficacy is a determining factor to achieve the learning objectives. Therefore, self-efficacy is important to be measured and improved. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a psychoeducational group with exercises techniques to improve students’ self-efficacy. This study was carried out by using a pretest-posttest control group design by involving 2 groups, the experimental and control group. The data from these groups were analyzed using repeated-measure MIX MANOVA. Meanwhile, the authors used self-efficacy scale (α=0.911) to collect the data of 14 students. The results showed that there were effects of time in the improvement of students' self-efficacy (F(2)=1,746; p<0.05), group members effect (F(3,984)=8,442; p<0.05), and the effect of time interacting with group members (F(1,293)=0.045; p<0.05). It can be concluded that the psychoeducational group with exercises techniques is effective to improve students’ self-efficacy by regarding the duration of intervention, group member, and time interaction with group members. This study implication to the guidance and counseling services will be discussed.

Abstract

This study departs from the limitations of research on how principals, counselors, teachers, and peers in inhibiting students' intention to do counseling. This study aims to determine how principals, counselors, teachers, and peers influence the lack of interest in student to do counseling. 162 students from six Junior High Schools in the city of Magelang, Indonesia were involved as participants after obtaining permission from the schools. The collected data is then analyzed using correlation and path analysis to see how the relationship and influence of principals, counselors, teachers, and peers on student counseling interests, and to see how the role of peers in mediating the relationship between principals with counselors and teacher with counselors. The school principals, counselors, and teachers become serious obstacles as they being categorized in high, while peers become factors in the medium category. Principals, teachers and peers contribute positively to the lack of interest in consulting to counselors. Principal factors and teachers contribute positively to peers. Peers are mediators in the principal's relationship with the counselor and the teacher's relationship with the counselor.

Abstract

Career decision making self-efficacy is needed by adolescences to accomplish tasks in career decision making. Individuals with high career decision making self-efficacy would be successful in making the right decision for themselves. This study aimed at proving the effect of future time perspective on career decision making self-efficacy seen from every aspect. The study used correlational design, and involved 120 subjects selected using purposive sampling. To collect the data, the researchers utilized the short form of career decision self-efficacy, and future time perspective. The results of linear regression analysis showed that the overall effects of the future time perspective aspects on self-appraisal was (R = 0.437; F = 9,150; p = &lt;0.05), the future time perspective perspective on the goal selection was (R = 0.257; F = 2.740; p = &lt;0.05), and the future time perspective aspects on planning for the future was (R = 0.458; F = 10,247; p = &lt;0.05). However, there found no significant relationship between the whole aspects of future time perspective on occupational information, and problem solving. Further, the implications of the findings are discussed in this article.

Abstract

Career Adapt-Abilities Scale is the most frequently used scale to assess career adaptability that has been tested in various countries. Since there has been no adaptation of this scale in Indonesian version, therefore, this study aimed to adapt Career Adapt-Abilities Scale to Indonesian, and examine its validity as well as reliability. The adaptation processes covered (1) understanding original test behavioral indicators, (2) performing back translation, (3) readability test, (4) items discrimination test, (5) validity estimation, and (6) reliability test. The respondents of this study were 797 students coming from Vocational High School (SMK) throughout Temanggung Regency. After the processes were carried out, the study resulted the Indonesian version of Career Adapt-Abilities Scale that consisted of 24 items. Further, the results of confirmatory factor analysis found that all items in Indonesian version were valid, and gained the coefficient values of 0.77 to 0.85 in reliability test. At last, this Career Adapt-Abilities Scale is recommended to be applied as one of career guidance instruments in Vocational High School, and researches

Abstract

This study intended to explore the role of empathy as mediator in mediating the relationship between moral disengagement and bullying behavior. The sample of this study was 388 students selected using Cluster Random Sampling technique. To collect the data this study used three instruments, namely Moral Disengagement Scale (MDS), Form Bullying Scale ? Perpetration (FBS ? P), and Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) instruments. Meanwhile, to analyze the data this study used bootstrap mediator analysis technique corrected by method (N = 5000) with the confidential interval of 95%. The results of this study showed that moral disengagement predicted the tendency of bullying and empathy on students. Then, empathy mediated moral disengagement and tendency of bullying on students. These findings provide understanding for guidance and counselling teachers about the effect of empathy in mediating moral disengagement and bullying on students
