Abstract

This study was motivated by the low reading interest and early reading ability of first-grade students at SDN Setono 1. The purpose of this study was to improve students’ reading interest and early reading ability through the implementation of the Reading Aloud method. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. The research subjects were 12 first-grade students of SDN Setono 1, consisting of 6 male and 6 female students. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, reading tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the Reading Aloud method effectively improved students’ reading interest and early reading ability. The percentage of students with good reading interest increased from 41.67% in the pre-cycle to 66.67% in Cycle I and reached 91.67% in Cycle II. Students’ early reading ability also improved, as indicated by the learning mastery percentage, which increased from 41.67% in the pre-cycle to 66.67% in Cycle I and reached 91.67% in Cycle II. The average reading score improved from 63.75 in the pre-cycle to 74.58 in Cycle I and 86.25 in Cycle II. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the Reading Aloud method is effective in improving reading interest and early reading ability among first-grade students of SDN Setono 1.

Abstract

Purpose – This study phenomenologically examines the forms, sources, and dynamics of mathematics anxiety among students at SDN 1 Kedungrejo, Probolinggo Regency. At the elementary level, mathematics anxiety is critical, as it can hinder learning and slow students’ numeracy skill development.Methodology – The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach and a phenomenological case study design. Data came from classroom observations, interviews, and triangulation with the principal, mathematics teacher, and five students with varying anxiety levels. Analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model: data reduction, narrative presentation, and drawing conclusions.Findings – The results show: (1) mathematics anxiety is an affective and socio-pedagogical construct shaped by classroom interactions and teaching patterns; (2) the anxiety stems not just from students' internal conditions, but also school structures, learning culture, and curriculum pressure; and (3) it arises from complex interplay among cognitive, emotional, and social factors in students’ daily learning.Contribution – These results show that mathematics anxiety in elementary students is multidimensional. It calls for a more humanistic, emotionally supportive approach to teaching to strengthen students' self-efficacy.

Abstract

Purpose – This study investigates differentiated project-based assessment practices as a strategic approach to strengthening literacy and numeracy in elementary schools within the spirit of Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn). Emerging from the gap between the paradigm of assessment as learning and conventional, outcome-oriented practices, this study examines how teachers design, implement, and reflect on student-centered assessments grounded in authentic life contexts.Methodology – A multi-case qualitative approach was employed across three elementary schools in East Java: SDN Manukan Kulon (Surabaya), SDN Kedung 1 (Probolinggo), and SDN Kanten 1 (Bojonegoro), with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and analysis of assessment documents.Findings – The findings reveal four consistent cross-contextual patterns: contextualized assessment planning, differentiated implementation of processes and products, the use of authentic instruments that evaluate thinking processes, and teachers' professional reflection that strengthens pedagogical awareness. The integration of these four dimensions yielded the Differentiated Project-Based Assessment Framework (DiPBAF), a synthesized model that represents a reflective and equitable learning cycle. This model underscores an epistemological shift in assessment—from a mere measurement tool to a transformative learning vehicle that fosters autonomy, empathy, and collaboration.Contribution – Theoretically, this research enriches the discourse on 21st-century assessment oriented toward process and reflection; practically, it offers new directions for contextual assessment policies that promote teacher professionalism and high-quality human-centered learning.

Abstract

This study explores teachers' perspectives on the use of digital media as an innovation in IPAS (Science and Social Studies) learning in elementary schools. The development of digital technology has accelerated the transformation of learning processes; however, its implementation at the elementary school level still faces various challenges, particularly in schools with limited infrastructure. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this study was conducted at SDN Nglanduk 01 through in-depth interviews with the principal and four teachers, complemented by classroom observation. Data were analyzed thematically through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teachers hold predominantly positive perspectives toward digital media use, viewing it as an effective tool for enhancing student enthusiasm and motivation in IPAS learning. Teachers have utilized various digital tools, including PowerPoint presentations, instructional videos, Google Classroom, and EduCode. The primary challenges encountered include unstable internet connectivity and limited technological devices. In response, teachers demonstrated adaptive and innovative attitudes through participation in technical training and self-directed learning. These findings carry significant implications for policy development: systematic digital competency programs and equitable technology infrastructure are essential prerequisites for sustainable integration of digital media in elementary IPAS learning.

Abstract

The trend of bullying in social media (ciberbullying) is a problem that is rife in the younger generation that occurs without knowing the victims such as school-age children which is then the important purpose of this research conducted. The analysis of bullying cases is examined by analyzing the blame for the misuse of  online social media platforms such as TikTok which is familiar to use among elementary school students which often causes physical and psychological clashes such as fights, ridicule, slander, threats, being a negative spectacle and being the object of gossip. This phenomenon causes anxiety in victims such as anger, shame, closing themselves and even antipathy to progress in learning. Qualitative methods with a content analysis approach  were emphasized in this study, but still require quantitative data information through the distribution of questionnaire instruments for 20 student respondents at SDN Pangongangan Madiun related to indications of cyberbullying behavior. The expected implications of this research are minimizing the negative impact  of ciberbullying and increasing students' social awareness to be wise in utilizing  the TikTok platform for more positive and educational activities.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of students' understanding of the material on plane geometry elements and the limited use of innovative and interactive learning media in elementary school mathematics learning. This condition can cause some students to tend to be less active, bored, and have problems understanding learning concepts. The research conducted has the aim of developing a Jumanji Board Game learning media based on cultural diversity integrated with the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model, and to determine the level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed learning media. The research conducted uses the R&D method using the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research was conducted at SDN Sugihwaras 1 with 20 third-grade students as research subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, validation sheets, response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results showed that the Jumanji Board Game media based on cultural diversity obtained a very valid category with a validation percentage of media experts of 92.63%, material experts of 85.33%, and language experts of 100%. The media was also deemed highly practical, based on 94.29% teacher responses and 90% student responses. Furthermore, the media proved effective in improving student learning outcomes, as demonstrated by an increase in the average pretest score from 64.93 to 95.20 on the posttest. Therefore, the Jumanji Board Game media, based on cultural diversity and integrated with the TGT model, is suitable for use as a mathematics learning medium because it can increase student understanding, motivation, activeness, and engagement in the learning process
