Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of glocalization of international slang within the Indonesian language as used by Generation Alpha. This research employs a qualitative content analysis approach, focusing on the dominance of glocalization forms, the context of usage, and the underlying reasons for language preferences among Generation Alpha. Based on exploration in virtual spaces, 20 variations of international slang were identified, including suss, savage, insecure, anomali, slay, jump in, flex, vibe, glow up, periodt, simp, bop, FOMO, CMIW, cringe, LOL, ghosting, stan, salty, and spill. The findings show that 75% of these terms underwent a semantic shift through processes such as amelioration, pejoration, generalization, specialization, and association, while the remaining 25% retained their original meanings. The results indicate that the glocalization of slang is primarily influenced by globalization, digital technology, social media, and popular culture. The study further reveals that the family environment and education also play a significant role in shaping these slang language preferences. These findings reflect the social and cultural dynamics of Generation Alpha, who are adept at integrating global linguistic elements into local contexts, thereby creating a unique and dynamic linguistic identity.

Abstract

Developing students' ability to write effective digital advertisement texts is crucial in today's media-rich environment. This study explores the impact of the Book Creator application on enhancing junior high school students’ digital advertisement writing skills. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed. The participants included 60 eighth-grade students who were randomly assigned to either the experimental group, which received instruction using the Book Creator app, or the control group, which followed traditional teaching methods. A validated writing skills test was used to measure students’ performance before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using tests of normality, homogeneity, paired t-tests, and independent t-tests. Findings revealed a significant improvement in the post-test scores of the experimental group (M = 87.70) compared to the control group (M = 75.27), with a mean difference of 12.43 (t = 7.268, p 0.001). The experimental group demonstrated enhanced ability in constructing persuasive, well-structured, and visually supported digital advertisements. The results suggest that integrating Book Creator into writing instruction supports the development of digital writing competencies, including creativity, structure, and multimedia integration. The study highlights the potential of digital tools to foster digital literacy and engagement among junior high school learners.

Abstract

This paper discusses the use of technological media and the students’ writing drama text skills between Class XI IPA 1 and XI IPS at SMA N 1 Bandar Sei Kijang. The research method used is the descriptive qualitative method. The research instrument is an interview questionnaire guideline that will be administered to Indonesian teachers. The research was conducted at SMA N 1 Bandar Sei Kijang with 23 students of class XI IPA 1 and 21 students of class XI IPS 1. The data collection technique in the study was to use interview guidelines, which contain questions about students’ learning conditions, students’ learning achievements, and students’ learning outcomes by applying different media and methods. The results indicate that technology media with the question and answer method was more effective to use than print media with the lecture method. It was proven based on the interviews. The students who used technology media with the question and answer method obtained results that tended to be high with a value of 83.52. The use of technology in learning can ease students and teachers to carry out learning.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze sociolects found in the film Uang Panai’ 2 Maha(L)R and to examine their relevance to Indonesian language learning based on local wisdom. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with film dialogues serving as the primary data source, collected through viewing and note-taking techniques. Data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal four factors influencing the use of sociolects in the film: speakers’ age, employment status, educational level, and socioeconomic class. Age differences emerge as the most dominant factor, reflected in forms of address and diction that indicate hierarchical relations and politeness in intergenerational interactions. Employment status is characterized by technical vocabulary and professional communication styles, while educational level is marked by the use of formal and academic language. Socioeconomic class is manifested through code-mixing and lexical choices that signal social status. The study concludes that film dialogues can function as contextual learning resources for teaching language variation, linguistic politeness, and local cultural values in Indonesian language education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IX MTsN 1 Subang dalam memahami teks eksplanasi. Kemampuan berpikir kritis yang dikaji mencakup kemampuan mengidentifikasi informasi penting, menganalisis hubungan sebab akibat, mengevaluasi informasi, dan menarik kesimpulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 30 siswa yang ditetapkan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi kelas, wawancara semi terstruktur, dan tugas tertulis berbasis teks eksplanasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis interaktif melalui tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa masih berada pada kategori rendah hingga sedang. Sebagian besar siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam mengidentifikasi informasi inti, membangun hubungan sebab akibat secara logis, serta mengevaluasi relevansi dan keakuratan informasi dalam teks. Kelemahan pada tahap awal berdampak pada rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam menarik kesimpulan secara tepat. Faktor yang memengaruhi kondisi tersebut meliputi keterbatasan strategi membaca kritis, rendahnya pemahaman konsep ilmiah yang berkaitan dengan teks eksplanasi, serta model pembelajaran yang belum sepenuhnya mendorong penalaran tingkat tinggi. Oleh karena itu, penguatan strategi membaca kritis dan integrasi literasi ilmiah perlu dioptimalkan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) berbantuan media Kahoot terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas V pada mata pelajaran IPAS materi ekosistem. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari kenyataan bahwa pembelajaran di Sekolah Dasar masih dominan menggunakan metode ceramah, sehingga siswa kurang aktif membangun pemahaman mereka sendiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain  kuasi eksperimen pada 48 siswa kelas V salah satu SD di Kabupaten Bandung Barat, yang dibagi menjadi kelas eksperimen (V-A, 24 siswa) dan kelas kontrol (V-B, 24 siswa).  Analisis data menggunakan uji independent. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (sig= 0,015 ˂ 0,05). Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa RADEC dipadukan dengan Kahoot efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran IPAS di Sekolah Dasar. Kelebihan penelitian ini terletak pada integrasi model kontruktivistik dengan media digital interaktif, sedangkan keterbatasannya adalah lingkup sampel yang kecil, durasi terbatas, dan variasi media yang sempit. Implikasi penelitian menegaskan pentingnya pemanfaatan media digital berbasis permainan untuk mendukung pembelajaran abad 21, serta mendorong penelitian lanjutan dengan cakupan yang lebih luas, media variatif dan variabel tambahan seperti kreativitas dan motivasi belajar.

Abstract

Digital teaching materials are essential in language learning, helping students understand reading. Reading comprehension can be obtained through the process of reading comprehension. Ruddell's taxonomy classifies reading comprehension levels into three groups, namely factual, interpretative, and applicative comprehension. This study uses Ruddell's taxonomy to determine the improvement of each reading comprehension level of public high school students in Bandung City after being treated using digital modules. This research used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects in this study were 10th-grade students in three public high schools in Bandung City, namely SMAN 1 Bandung, SMAN 19 Bandung, and SMAN 20 and non-test. Data analysis techniques in this study used quantitative analysis, which consisted of descriptive statistical analysis and inferential analysis. The data were tested for normality prerequisites, then continued with the nonparametric technique of the Wilcoxon test using the SPSS 24 application. The improvement of students' reading ability was known through the Normalized Gain test. The results showed a high-category increase in interpretative comprehension, a medium-category increase in applicative comprehension, and a low-category increase in factual comprehension. The treatment, with the help of digital teaching materials, caused a rise in students' reading skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a Thinking Working Scaffolding Sharing Model based on local wisdom of the principles of silih asah, silih asih, silih asuh in learning to write commercial posters related to the Indonesian creative economy for junior high school/Islamic junior high school students. The research method used is the research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. The results of the study showed that students need a process of interaction and communication in learning. The validation results of the development of the Thinking Working Scaffolding Sharing model based on local wisdom have a model assessment percentage of 98.3%, media materials of 91.7%, evaluation of 96.7%, the development of this model is categorized as "Very Feasible". The results of the model trial showed a significant difference in student learning outcomes in the pre-test and post-test. The responses of teachers and students to the use of this model showed a positive response. The Thinking Working Scaffolding Sharing model based on local wisdom can facilitate the learning process by involving good interaction and communication between students and teachers, so that it can increase students' creativity and critical thinking by the objectives of 21st century learning.

Abstract

The skills of deep reading and metacognitive skills through the utilization of local culture are becoming increasingly relevant in the context of education. The analysis of the use of culturally based materials shows that this integration enhances reading skills, but also positively impacts students' metacognitive learning. This study aims to examine improvements in deep reading skills and cultural metacognition through Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT). The quantitative experimental method uses a one-group pretest-posttest design, which provides pre-test and post-test assessments. The sample for this study consists of 13 grade-10 students at SMA Al-Amanah in Lembang, West Java, using a total sampling technique. This research proves that the culturally responsive teaching approach (CRT) is effective in enhancing students' deep reading skills and cultural metacognition. In terms of deep reading, the average score increased from 70.00 to 78.08 and the median from 65 to 80, with test results indicating statistical testing (p = 0.006) and a large effect size (Cohen's d = 0.919). Cultural metacognition, including Cultural Awareness, Reflection, Self-Regulation, and Knowledge, also improved, with total scores rising from 63.75% to 78.8%. The dimension of Cultural Knowledge showed the largest increase, at 20.9%. The findings of this research confirm that CRT not only enhances deep text comprehension abilities but also strengthens cultural metacognitive awareness and skills.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the potential of integrating local culture in BIPA materialss through semiotic analysis of the song “Lir-ilir.” Using qualitative descriptive methods and Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis, the song lyrics were examined in this study. This study showed that denotatively, the song “Lir-ilir” describes rural life. Connotatively, the song is an invitation to improve attitude. Mythologically, the song shows the integration of social, cultural, and religious aspects. The song “Lir-ilir” has cultural values that can be internalized in BIPA materials by studying vocabulary, listening, singing, reading the meaning, and transforming the song “Lir-ilir.” This study contributes to the potential internationalization of Indonesian language through a culture-based approach. The research novelties of this study lie in analyzing the semiotics contained in the song “Lir-ilir” and identifying its potential in BIPA materials as a process of internationalizing Indonesian language and culture. The results of this analysis and potential identification are part of the process of internationalizing the Indonesian language and culture. BIPA course institutions and teachers can develop this teaching material design to enrich the reference of teaching materials and BIPA learning methods that meet the needs of BIPA learners.
