Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the need for companion teaching materials based on Android applications about children's stories containing the Pancasila Student Profile which are designed to increase reading interest in 4th grade elementary school students. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data in this research was obtained through interviews with class IV teachers and also through distributing questionnaires to class IV students at SDN Jakasampurna IV, Bekasi City. Based on the results of interviews with teachers, teachers really need accompanying teaching materials to increase students' interest in reading, because so far teachers still rely on textbooks, there has never been an Android application-based teaching material about children's stories containing the Pancasila Student Profile. Meanwhile, students are also known to need accompanying teaching materials in the form of Android applications because students prefer to open their cellphones rather than read textbooks. Students find textbooks very monotonous and not interesting to read. Based on the results of the analysis of teacher and student needs, it is necessary to develop Android application-based teaching materials about children's stories containing the Pancasila Student Profile to increase reading interest in fourth grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Traditional games play a vital role in developing children's motor skills, particularly in a family environment. This article examines the influence of traditional games on gross and fine motor skill development through a qualitative approach combining literature review and family case studies. Traditional games such as jump rope, congklak, and egrang enhance coordination, balance, strength, and agility in children. Observations reveal that children engaged in these games demonstrate better motor development than those who are not. Parental involvement in traditional games strengthens family bonds, provides a supportive environment, and enhances children's social skills. The article concludes by emphasizing the importance of integrating traditional games into children's daily routines to promote motor skill development and encourages further research on their broader impact on child development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Self-Regulated Learning and critical thinking on digital literacy and numeracy literacy of elementary school students. The subjects of the study were 100 6th grade students from five schools in Bandung Kulon District. The canonical correlation method was used with instruments in the form of questionnaires for Self-Regulated Learning and digital literacy, as well as tests for critical thinking skills and numeracy literacy. Assumption tests include normality, linearity, non-multicollinearity, and homogeneity of variance-covariance. The results show a canonical correlation significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), which indicates a significant relationship between the variables. The first and second canonical functions are significant with p values of 0.000 and 0.02, respectively. The canonical coefficient and loading indicate that critical thinking has a dominant influence in improving numeracy literacy, while Self-Regulated Learning plays an important role in strengthening digital and numeracy literacy. This study confirms the importance of Self-Regulated Learning and critical thinking in improving student literacy and provides insight into efforts to improve literacy in the digital era

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are fundamental skills in 21st-century learning. One of these skills is influenced by students' reading literacy. However, reading literacy activities in elementary schools have yet to be maximized. This study aimed to analyze teachers' needs in elementary school learning and produce a prototype of the Tri Hita Karana Reading Literacy model. This type of research is research and development (RnD). The research and development model design used was adapted from Borg and Gall's theory. The subjects involved were 55 teachers in the preliminary study, 6 people, and 2 practitioners for the product feasibility test. Methods of data collection for preliminary study are using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The research results show that teachers must develop a model to maximize students' literacy activities. Second, the average calculation of the validator's assessment results is 4.3, which means it is in the very good category, with an average number of content aspects of 4.3, layout and design aspects of 4.2, and grammar of 4,4. These results indicate that the THK Literacy Model is considered to have met the validity criteria. The conclusion of the experts regarding the development of this model is that the model can be used with several revisions.

Abstract

This study reveals that many students struggle with narrative writing, particularly in terms of word choice, theme, and grammar, while the solutions provided by teachers often do not meet individual needs. The aim of this study is to identify students' preferences, challenges, and solutions in narrative writing. A descriptive-qualitative approach was employed, involving 166 fifth-grade students from an elementary school as subjects. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews with teachers, and questionnaires c filled out by students and then analyzed thematically, focusing on difficulties in idea development, vocabulary usage, writing structure, and the solutions offered by teachers. The results show that although students have a high interest in writing stories, they face difficulties in creating a coherent storyline and in developing characters and settings. Other major challenges include vocabulary use and grammar comprehension. Students' preference for group writing and gamification elements indicates great potential for increasing their motivation and engagement. Strategies such as group brainstorming and the use of visual aids have proven effective in helping students design better storylines, enhance creativity, and overcome limitations in narrative structure. In conclusion, collaborative approaches, gamification, and interactive technology can effectively improve students' narrative writing skills by addressing their individual preferences and challenges.

Abstract

Language skills are essential in daily life, particularly in education. At the elementary level, reading development progresses through basic and advanced stages. Many first-grade students continue to struggle with early reading due to inadequate learning stimulation, limited use of instructional media, and low engagement during lessons. This study investigates the effect of using word card media on the early reading skills of first-grade students at SDN Purwadadi 1, Subang Regency. A pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was applied, involving 27 students. Data were collected through a performance assessment test, where students demonstrated their reading abilities before and after the intervention. The results showed an improvement in the average score from 58.96 in the pretest to 65.11 in the posttest, with a 10.43% increase. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significance value of < 0.05, indicating a meaningful difference between the two tests. The findings suggest that word card media effectively enhances early reading skills, creates a more engaging learning experience, and increases student participation in the classroom. It is recommended that teachers integrate word card media into early reading instruction to enhance student interest, increase engagement, and improve reading outcomes.

Abstract

The current problem is that many students still have difficulty in writing. Observation results also found problems regarding the low ability of students to write posters because they do not want to learn. The purpose of this study was to determine the Scaffolding Model to help phase D students make posters with content related to the regional creative economy. The research method used was quasi-experimental. The population in this study was 175 people. The research sample was 50 people using purposive sampling, with criteria based on the lowest student learning scores from the population. Data collection methods include interviews and tests. The instruments used were interview guidelines, test and assessment sheets, student needs questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The data analysis technique used inferential statistical analysis with the help of SPSS. The results showed that the Scaffolding Model had a significant difference compared to the collaboration model. The Scaffolding Model had a significant impact on students' poster writing learning outcomes, while the collaboration model had a moderate impact. Students responded positively to the Scaffolding Model, indicating that they found the Scaffolding Model interesting and easy to follow, increased their enthusiasm, and trained their ability to think actively and creatively. It was concluded that the Scaffolding Model was effectively used in poster writing learning to improve poster writing skills for phase D students. The implication of the research is that the application of the Scaffolding Model can be used to improve writing skills in elementary school students.
