Abstract

The use of herbal cosmetics is one of the lifestyles that need to be improved in order to implement back to nature. One of the pharmaceutical biotechnology products that can be developed as an antibacterial for Shigella dysentriae and Vibrio cholera made from butterfly pea flower kombucha is bath soap. The use of natural cosmetics is influenced by several factors of the cultivation location used as a sample in the scope of this study. The locations for taking samples of butterfly pea flowers in this study were Pekuncen, Ciwedus, and Cigeblak villages in Cilegon City, Banten. The three locations for cultivating the plant were used to provide information on its potential as an antibacterial in inhibiting the growth of both test bacteria. The study showed that bath soap containing the active ingredient of butterfly pea flower kombucha in each formula and three cultivation locations showed a positive correlation as a pharmaceutical biotechnology product and antibacterial against Shigella dysentriae and Vibrio cholera organisms. The optimal formula to inhibit the growth of both test microorganisms, especially those from butterfly pea flowers cultivated in Pekuncen Village, was a concentration of 40%. This is due to differences in plant cultivation locations, especially the altitude of the place producing different metabolite compound content, especially in this study as antibacterial in inhibiting the growth of both test bacteria.

Abstract

In the form of natural aerosol formulations and preparations, butterfly pea flower kombucha in the form of waste can be utilized as a pharmaceutical biotechnology product to inhibit the growth of pathogenic fungi that cause disease or infection in horticultural commodity plants. Horticultural commodity plants are plant commodities that have the potential to be developed as food flavorings, traditional medicines, and spices, especially in the shallot species Allium cepa L. One of the obstacles to the growth and development of shallot plants is being hampered by attacks by pathogenic fungi from the species Fusarium fujikuroi, Alternaria sp, and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. A safe and environmentally friendly solution to prevent the growth of these three pathogenic fungi is to utilize the fermentation waste of butterfly pea flower kombucha as a pharmaceutical biotechnology product in the form of natural spray formulations and preparations with concentrations of 20%, 30%, and 40%. Based on the one-way ANOVA test with each P value <0.05, supported by post hoc analysis. Specifically, the 40% formula differs significantly from the 20% and 30% formulas as a pharmaceutical biotechnology product in its ability to inhibit the growth of the three pathogenic fungi in shallot plants, and is the most optimal formula.

Abstract

Water guava is one of the easiest horticultural commodity plants to cultivate in the home garden. Water guava has an important role as a functional food and pharmaceuticals (medicines and cosmetics). A common problem that occurs in water guava cultivation activities is an increase in fungal infections that appear one-sidedly like dew. The pathogenic fungus referred to in increasing infection of the water guava is the species Capnodium sp. An environmentally friendly solution to inhibiting the growth of pathogenic fungi for water guava is to utilize the fermented waste of butterfly pea flower kombucha at sugar concentrations of 20%, 30% and 40% as has been done in previous research. This research aims to inhibit the growth of the Capnodium sp fungus from the fermentation waste of butterfly pea flower kombucha in sugar concentrations of 20%, 30% and 40%. The research is laboratory experimental, namely by preparing butterfly pea flower kombucha fermentation waste in sugar concentrations of 20%, 30% and 40%, preparing positive and negative control solutions. The antifungal testing method is carried out via disc diffusion. Data analysis was carried out via one-way ANOVA and post hoc tests. The results of this research have shown that based on a one-way ANOVA test with a P value < 0.05 followed by post hoc analysis, the sugar concentration in butterfly pea flower kombucha fermentation waste is 40% different from 20% and 30% as an antifungal Capnodium sp. The conclusion of this research is that butterfly pea flower kombucha fermentation waste can be used as a natural spray preparation to inhibit the growth of the Capnodium sp fungus and can also be used as an agricultural and pharmaceutical biotechnology product which is quite environmentally friendly in minimizing the use of chemical pesticides
