Abstract

This study analyses the use of speech act in the diplomatic speeches of Retno Marsudi and Sugiono in international forums supporting Palestine. Based on Searle’s speech act theory and Toulmin’s argumentation theory, this study explores how each diplomat used linguistics strategies to construct meaning and covey political support. The data collection techniques in this research are first, watching videos of Retno Marsudi’s and Sugiono's speeches at the 16th UN and BRICS Summit through YouTube. Second, transcribing the selected videos. Third, searching for their speech texts on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Fourth, reading the text and then collecting data by selecting which phrases to take. The last is identifying the phrases that match the category characteristics. Using descriptive qualitative method in the analysis, Retno Marsudi tends to use directive speech acts to urge immediate action from the UN Security Council and commissive speech acts to emphasize Indonesia's commitment to justice. On the other hand, Sugiono uses expressive and directive speech acts to build international solidarity and invite Southern countries to support Palestine. The analysis shows that Retno Marsudi emphasizes direct conceptual meaning, while Sugiono uses associative meaning to strengthen global solidarity and justice. This difference reflects the rhetorical strategies used in accordance with their respective audiences and objectives in international forums. This research provides insight into the use of language in diplomatic forums that can influence policy in international relations.

Evaluation in the view of Islamic education focuses on forming students' self-awareness after knowing what needs to be improved in their life journey. In preparing this article, researchers used qualitative methods with the type of library research. This type of qualitative research is research that produces information in the form of notes and descriptive data contained in the text being studied. The data used is by collecting books, journals and others related to evaluation in Islamic education. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive methods. The research results show that the way students learn is determined by the evaluation method, and vice versa, the evaluation method used by teachers is determined by the evaluation objectives. Evaluation must be carried out continuously (continuity). This last principle must carry out continuous evaluation but must not ignore the other evaluation principles. It is generally understood that students who can evaluate themselves are able to understand the extent of their religious abilities, their faith and their religious experience.

Abstract

AbstractSemiotics as a science that becomes a bridge in understanding the sea of literature from the Qur'an is something that must be studied when studying the Qur'an. Of the many studies discussed in semiotics, one of them is the application of symbols in the Qur'an. In this modern era, the Al-Qur’an does not only appear with symbols indicating waqf but also appears with color symbols that represent tajwid and other artisans. This paper aims to reveal the results of research on color symbols in the Qur'anic mushaf in the modern era. The methodology used by the author in this paper is a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach. The results of the study show that the application of symbols in semiotic studies is evident in the Qur'an printed in the millennial era, especially in symbols in the form of colors. The application of color in modern Al-Qur’an manuscripts makes the Al-Qur’an more informative, especially for children who are just learning the Qur'an. The color symbols in the Al-Qur’an mushaf are very helpful in memorizing the Al-Qur’an.Keywords: Alquran; Color; Symbol. AbstrakSemiotika sebagai sebuah ilmu yang menjadi jembatan dalam memahami lautan sastra dari al-Qur’an menjadi hal yang wajib dipelajari saat mengkaji tentang al-Qur’an. Abstract

This study explores the response of KH. Saifuddin Zuhri, one of Indonesia’s prominent Islamic scholars and independence fighters, to the Jewish occupation of Palestine during the period 1936–1948. This period was marked by escalating conflict between the Palestinian population and Zionist groups supported by Britain under the British Mandate for Palestine. The focus of this research is on how KH. Saifuddin Zuhri, as part of the Indonesian Islamic elite, viewed and responded to the Palestinian issue, which at the time had become a central concern in the Islamic world. The study employs a historical method consisting of four main stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The findings reveal that KH. Saifuddin Zuhri consistently opposed the Jewish occupation of Palestine through his writings, speeches, and advocacy in both religious and national forums. His response was rooted in the spirit of Islamic solidarity (ukhuwah Islamiyah) and anti-colonial principles that formed part of the broader struggle of the global Muslim community during that era. These findings indicate that the Palestinian issue was not only a concern for the Arab world but also received serious attention from Indonesian

Abstract

Racism is still a prevalent problem in society and is frequently examined in literature and film. Few studies have looked at how racism is created and expressed via characterization in movie scripts using literary frameworks, despite the fact that many have tackled it from historical and sociological viewpoints. Using Wellek and Warren's intrinsic and extrinsic literary techniques as well as George M. Fredrickson's theory of racism, this study attempts to examine how aspects of racism are portrayed in the film script Green Book through the portrayal of its central characters. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to find dialogues and settings that illustrate social inequality, racial prejudice, and the formation of racial identity. While previous research has explored the script of this film but they have not directly discussed the elements of racism that occur in this film, this study can bring the theme of racism deeper into the field of narrative and characterization.

Abstract

Islamic education integrates Islamic values into learning, focusing on the development of good character. This significantly contributes to the creation of a young generation that excels academically while possessing a strong personality in terms of ethics, spirituality, and social life. Based on literature review, it was found that the application of Qur'anic values and the Prophet's Sunnah in the educational process can serve as a solid foundation in producing individuals who are faithful, devout, and capable of making positive contributions to society. Thus, Islamic education aims not only to create a generation that excels in knowledge but also one that can implement Islamic values in everyday life and benefit their surroundings.
