Abstract

This descriptive study aims to analyze the effect of shaft diameter on the natural frequency and maximum deformation of a rotating shaft system. The analysis was conducted through numerical simulation using ANSYS Workbench software. The shaft and two symmetrically positioned disks were modeled, and a modal analysis was performed using the Finite Element Method (FEM) to determine the system’s first ten vibration modes. Simulation results showed that the natural frequencies ranged from 80.495 Hz to 280.4 Hz, with a maximum deformation of 58.903 mm occurring in the 9th mode. The lower modes (modes 1–6) exhibited lower frequencies but higher deformation, while higher modes (modes 7–10) showed more complex vibration patterns with consistently significant deformation values. This indicates that higher frequency does not necessarily result in lower deformation, and the system may still experience critical vibration. These findings demonstrate that the shaft's geometric configuration, including diameter and mass distribution of the disks, significantly affects its dynamic behavior. The simulation provides deeper insight into the vibration characteristics of the critical speed shaft apparatus used in practical experiments and serves as a reference for validating theoretical approaches such as the Dunkerley and Rayleigh methods.

Abstract

Drum brakes are one of the crucial components in motor vehicle braking systems, particularly in motorcycles, due to their advantages in production cost and resistance to environmental contamination. However, this type of brake has limitations in dissipating heat during braking, which can lead to temperature accumulation, thermal deformation, and reduced braking efficiency. This study aims to analyze the thermo-mechanical performance of drum brakes with various cooling groove designs (solid, straight-grooved, and slant-grooved) using a numerical method based on Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in ANSYS Workbench. The analysis was conducted in a transient manner, both thermally and structurally, to evaluate temperature distribution and total deformation for each design. The results show that the slant-grooved drum brake design yields the lowest temperature distribution and total deformation values, especially at high braking speeds, with a temperature distribution of 56.899?°C and total deformation of 17.67?×?10?³?mm. These findings indicate that groove design significantly affects the heat dissipation and structural deformation performance of the brake system. The study concludes that the slant-grooved design is superior in reducing heat and deformation, thereby offering the potential to improve braking safety and efficiency.

Abstract

Abstract - Curriculum evaluation is essential for ensuring the relevance, quality, and sustainability of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in response to technological advancement, industrial transformation, and evolving workforce demands. However, existing studies primarily focus on individual evaluation models or specific institutional contexts, resulting in fragmented evidence. This study aims to identify curriculum evaluation models implemented in TVET, analyze their implementation practices, compare their characteristics, and synthesize current trends and future directions. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines using the Scopus database. The review process included identification, screening, eligibility assessment, quality assessment, and thematic synthesis, resulting in 12 eligible studies published between 2015 and 2025. The findings identified seven categories of curriculum evaluation models, namely Formal Evaluation, Quality Assurance Evaluation, Industry-Based Evaluation, Stakeholder-Based Evaluation, Competency-Based Evaluation, Future-Oriented Evaluation, and Assessment/Comparative Evaluation. The synthesis indicates a paradigm shift from traditional administrative evaluation toward more collaborative, evidence-based, competency-oriented, and industry-responsive approaches. Furthermore, the selection of evaluation models is influenced by national TVET policies, institutional priorities, and the level of industry collaboration, suggesting that no single evaluation model is universally applicable across different contexts. This study contributes a conceptual synthesis of curriculum evaluation models and highlights the importance of integrating multiple evaluation approaches to support continuous curriculum improvement, providing theoretical insights and practical guidance for curriculum developers, educational institutions, policymakers, and industry partners. Keywords : Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Curriculum Evaluation, Vocational Education, Systematic Literature Review, PRISMA 2020, Thematic Synthesis.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive longitudinal analysis of the evolution of Educational Data Mining (EDM) research from 2014 to 2024, with a particular emphasis on learning analytics and student success prediction. We have developed and implemented the Temporal Semantic Flow Networks with Attention-based Topic Evolution (TSFN-ATE) methodology, which reconceptualizes the evolution of scientific discourse as continuous semantic flows. This framework integrates multi-scale temporal attention mechanisms and dynamic network representations to analyze Scopus-indexed keyword data from 436 EDM articles. The analysis identified significant transformations within the discourse of EDM, with a 333% increase in research intensity related to predictive modeling and an unprecedented 2,650% growth in the application of deep learning from 2014 to 2024. Deep learning attained the highest semantic flow score (0.94), signifying its successful integration across various EDM subfields, while machine learning emerged as the central methodological bridge, exhibiting the strongest network centrality (0.74). Multi-scale temporal attention analysis revealed differential patterns across time scales, with machine learning receiving the highest recent attention (0.85 at a 1-year scale), whereas learning analytics demonstrated sustained long-term influence (0.75 at a 5-year scale). Concept drift detection identified four major paradigm shifts, with the 2018-2019 deep learning integration representing the most significant conceptual disruption (semantic stability index 0.45). Collectively, these four identified paradigm shifts — from traditional machine learning through deep learning integration to the emergent ethical turn — reveal that EDM is not simply accumulating methods but undergoing continuous conceptual reorganisation; understanding and anticipating these shifts is therefore essential for researchers, institutions, and policymakers seeking to align educational technology development with evolving scientific and societal priorities.
