Abstract

Enhancing students’ activity and science concept mastery using guided-inquiry based practical manual. This quasi-experimental research aimed to understand the effectiveness of guided-inquiry based practical manual for improving students’ activity and concept mastery of science. Sixty students from SMP Negeri 1 Natar were selected as research samples in this study. This research used two types of data that is quantitative data (pretest, postes, and n-gain) and qualitative data (learning observation and student activity). The results showed that high n-gain score (0.70) for both experimental class 1 and 2. In addition, the assessment of student activity in experimental classes 1 and 2 is also quite good with the score is 86.44% and 85.84%, respectively. Therefore, the use of guided inquiry based practical manuals is highly recommended to improve students’ learning activities and mastery of the science concept. Keywords: Practical manual, guided inquiry, students’ activity, science concept master DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v8.i1.201801

Abstract

Islamic-Based Leadership in Education: A Literature Review. From an Islamic perspective, leadership issues receive considerable attention, because in Islam leadership is considered the most important instrument for the realization of an ideal society. Objectives: This article aims to examine the urgency of leadership in Islam, the concept of Islamic-based leadership in education and the implementation of Islamic-based leadership in education from various literature. Methods: This article uses a literature review method to find answers to scientific questions posed to help achieve the article's objectives by searching databases from Google Scholar and ScienceDirect with literature for the last 10 years regarding Islamic-based leadership, resulting in 27 international and national articles. Findings: The research results show that leadership is an important element in the core of Islam. Islam has provided special guidelines for selecting leaders and guiding leaders so that they can carry out their mandate to achieve the blessing of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. Islamic leadership is leadership based on the Al-Qur’an and hadith. In its implementation in education, Islamic leadership emulates the characteristics of the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam with the main characteristics, namely: shiddiq, amanah, tabligh and fathanah. Abstract

Factors Affecting the Work Readiness of Vocational School Students: A Systematic Literature Review. Objectives: This study aims to comprehensively identify and analyze the factors affecting the work readiness of vocational school students, employing a systematic literature review approach. It seeks to provide comprehensive insights into individual, educational, and contextual elements that shape students' preparedness for transitioning into the workforce. Methods: The research employs a systematic literature review methodology, analyzing relevant academic articles and reports published between 2015 and 2024. Sources were selected based on predefined criteria emphasizing their relevance to vocational education, work readiness, and factors shaping students' transition to employment. Key themes were identified and synthesized to construct a comprehensive understanding of the topic. Findings: The study identifies three principal dimensions influencing work readiness. First, individual factors, including motivation, interpersonal skills, self-efficacy, self-regulation, and soft skills, are crucial in equipping students to adapt successfully to professional environments. Second, the learning process, including experiential activities like internships and teaching factories, enhances students’ technical and non-technical skills by bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Third, contextual factors—such as socioeconomic status, regional disparities, and social support systems—substantially impact students’ access to resources and opportunities, thereby shaping their career preparedness. Additionally, regional disparities in school-industry partnerships underscore the need for localized interventions to address these gaps. Conclusion: Work readiness among vocational school students is a multifaceted construct shaped by individual characteristics, practical learning experiences, and contextual influences. Developing targeted strategies, such as integrating industry-relevant practical learning models and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, can significantly enhance students’ preparedness for entering the workforce. Policymakers and educators are encouraged to address resource and opportunity disparities to ensure equitable outcomes for all students. Keywords: contextual factors, individual factors, systematic literature review, vocational school students, work readiness.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024124

Abstract

STEAM Approach in Renewable Energy Education: Global Trends and Future Research Direction. Renewable energy education is an alternative to reducing fossil energy consumption at the school level in which students are hoped to save the energy in their living environment by playing a role in behavior in dealing with energy crises. Many studies regarding the use of STEAM approach to educate students on renewable energy have sharply grown. Objectives[LS1] ; This[LS2]  recent research aims to find the novelty of those previous studies regarding renewable energy education using STEAM approach for future researches. Method; a systematic review using bibliometric analysis was performed to carry out this research whereby 16 literatures indexed by Scopus and published in 2015 – 2021 were involved as the data. Several analyses, such as co-word, performance, citation, and co-authorship were used to analyze the data promoted by VOSviewer software. Fundings; the Results of this recent study showed that publication trend of renewable energy education studies involving the STEAM approach slightly increased in the period of 2015 – 2021 while citation trend sharply decreased. Several documents and lots of authors coming from some countries in each continent contributed most to the studies of STEAM approach in renewable energy education. Conclusion; some main themes such as country’s participant, environment, renewable energy, awareness, sustainability, education, learning approach, and competence also emerged to synthesize the prospectively new direction of future researches in renewable energy education using the STEAM approach. Keywords: bibliometric, renewable energy education, STEAM approach.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202492
