Abstract

Curriculum integration between Islamic Boarding Schools and Islamic Universities is an important issue in the context of Islamic education in Indonesia, the diversity of Indonesian culture requires a more inclusive and adaptive educational approach as an anticipation of the risk of losing students' social competence and as a solution to improving the character of religious and cultural values as an effort to enhance the success of educational quality. This study aims to explore the dynamics of collaboration between Islamic boarding schools and universities in carrying out the process and the positive implications of integrating an educational curriculum that teaches religious knowledge, worldly skills, and multicultural values. Using a qualitative approach, data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis related to both institutions' curricula and learning activities. The study results show that the formal and non-formal collaboration process between universities and Islamic boarding schools has succeeded in producing a curriculum that combines Islamic values, general skills, and cross-cultural knowledge, facilitating the exchange of experiences that enrich students' perspectives. The impact of this integration includes increasing attitudes of tolerance, respect for diversity, and deeper understanding; the quality of social interactions between both becomes more harmonious and open to differences. These findings highlight the importance of teaching multiculturalism in Islamic education, which is theoretical and applied in everyday life. The novelty of this study lies in the ability of Islamic educational institutions to integrate multicultural values relevant to the pluralistic Indonesian context and contribute to the development of more adaptive and moderate student characters. This study recommends developing cross-institutional programs to strengthen curriculum integration and increase social impact.

Abstract

The independent curriculum is a curriculum that emphasizes learning flexibility and strengthening the Pancasila and Rahmatan lil Alamin Student Profiles. A comprehensive understanding can maximize its application in madrasas. In an effort to support the implementation of this curriculum, community service activities were held in the form of workshops for madrasa teachers under the auspices of the LP Ma'arif NU Blitar Regency. This workshop aims to provide a theoretical basis and practical skills in implementing the Independent Curriculum. This workshop activity was carried out through three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation involving 200 participants from various levels of education ranging from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs), to Madrasah Aliyah (MA). The evaluation results showed an increase in participants' understanding in compiling the operational curriculum of madrasas, differentiated learning, the Rahmatan lil Alamin Student Profile Strengthening Project, and compiling teaching modules. With this workshop, it is hoped that madrasas will be able to apply the Independent Curriculum effectively, so that it can improve the quality of education in madrasas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of Sufi values contained in Kitab al-Ḥikam al-‘Aṭā’iyyah by Ibn ‘Aṭā’illah al-Sakandari as a spiritual foundation for fostering harmony within the multicultural society of Singkawang City. This research is motivated by the social reality of Singkawang, a city marked by ethnic, cultural, and religious pluralism, which necessitates a strong moral and spiritual basis to reinforce social cohesion. This study employs a qualitative approach within a socio-cultural framework. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing. Kitab al-Ḥikam al-‘Aṭā’iyyah by Ibn ‘Aṭā’illah al-Iskandarī is a seminal work in Islamic mysticism that guides humans toward closeness to God while shaping noble social ethics. Values such as sincerity (ikhlāṣ), humility (tawāḍu‘), patience (ṣabr), asceticism (zuhd), and love (maḥabbah) serve as moral compasses that are highly relevant in a multicultural society like Singkawang. These teachings foster spiritual awareness that nurtures tolerance, strengthens social solidarity, and instills virtuous character in education. Al-Hikam thus becomes a source of transformative values that cultivate harmony, peace, and appreciation for diversity.

Abstract

Abstract The rapid transformation of local cultural traditions in the modern era has raised concerns regarding the preservation of indigenous values and their integration with Islamic teachings. As one of the agrarian traditions maintained by Javanese Muslim communities, the Wiwitan harvest thanksgiving tradition reflects the acculturation between local culture and Islamic educational values in social life. This study aims to explore the implementation of the Wiwitan tradition, identify the Islamic values embedded within it, and analyze the internalization of Islamic educational values through the harvest thanksgiving tradition in Sumberejo. This research employed a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively to understand the socio-religious meaning of the tradition. The findings reveal that the Wiwitan tradition practiced by the community has undergone a process of Islamization in line with the dominance of Islamic orthodoxy in Javanese society. The tradition embodies both divine values (ilahiyyah) and humanistic values (insaniyyah), including gratitude, charity, kinship, and tolerance. The internalization of Islamic educational values is carried out through the stages of projection, introspection, identification, habituation, reflection, and value evaluation. These findings indicate that the Wiwitan tradition functions not only as a cultural ritual but also as a medium for strengthening Islamic educational values and social harmony within the community.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, science is dominated by the West, while the contribution of Muslims is often considered minimal. SMA Trensains Tebuireng 2 Jombang integrates the Qur’an and science into the curriculum to improve students’ religiosity and intellectual intelligence. This study aims to examine the verses of the Qur’an, the process, and the science integration model to enhance graduates’ quality. With a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show integration based on verses such as QS. Al-Syu’ara: 4, QS. Al-Rum: 25, and QS. Al-Insan: 17, which discusses creation and natural phenomena. The process involves a thematic curriculum, an approach to scientific interpretation, and discussion-based learning and presentations. Supporting factors include laboratories, libraries, and institutional support, although constrained by limited human resources and media. This integration model is efficacious in improving intellectual intelligence and religiosity, producing superior graduates based on Islamic values.

This article aims to examine and uncover the existing reality, around the relationship between kiai and students through a case study at the Ainul Yaqin Campus Islamic Boarding School, University of Islam Malang. The research was carried out with direct observation, documentation and in-depth interviews with administrators and students. The results of the study show that the leadership style of the kiai in this Islamic boarding school is democratic and not based on heredity, while the relationship between kiai and students is built on the basis of science, example, and spiritual awareness. Practices such as solemnity and respect for students do not reflect the dominance of power, but the value of education that is rooted in Islamic manners and traditions. Therefore, social relations in this Islamic boarding school cannot be categorized as feudal, but as part of an education system that is full of moral and religious meaning.
