Abstract

This study focuses on the impact of capital structure on the level of profit in the cosmetics and family products sector listed on the IDX. Capital structure is explained through several financial indicators, such as the current ratio, debt to equity ratio, and debt to asset ratio, while profitability is presented by return on equity. The research uses multiple linear regression to analyze data by utilizing company financial reports during a certain period. The findings show that the current ratio does not make a significant contribution to return on equity, while the debt to equity ratio has a significant positive impact. On the other hand, the debt to asset ratio does not show a significant negative effect on return on equity. It is hoped that the results of this research can help company management in preparing capital structure strategies and serve as a guide for investors to strengthen the company's financial performance.

Abstract

The development of financial technology has encouraged changes in financial behavior, especially among students as active users of digital services. One of the rapidly growing services is paylater, which offers transaction convenience through deferred payment systems. However, uncontrolled use of paylater may create personal financial risks such as consumptive behavior and debt accumulation. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, financial technology, and locus of control on the use of paylater among students at Universitas Balikpapan from a financial risk management perspective. This study uses a quantitative method with data collection techniques through questionnaires distributed to students of Universitas Balikpapan. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling approach. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The results are expected to show that financial literacy, financial technology, and locus of control significantly influence the use of paylater. This study implies that financial understanding, technological convenience, and self-control are important factors in minimizing financial risks arising from the use of digital credit services. This research is expected to serve as an evaluation material for students to be wiser in using paylater services and to increase awareness of personal financial risk management.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of risk management as a mediating variable in the relationship between financial inclusion and SME performance. The study employed a quantitative approach using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with Smart-PLS version 4. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 150 SME owners and managers in Balikpapan, Indonesia, selected using purposive sampling. The findings reveal that financial inclusion does not have a significant direct effect on SME performance. However, financial inclusion has a positive and significant effect on risk management, while risk management significantly improves SME performance. Furthermore, the study confirms that risk management significantly mediates the relationship between financial inclusion and SME performance. These findings indicate that access to formal financial services alone is insufficient to improve SME performance unless supported by effective risk management practices. The study contributes to the literature by highlighting the strategic role of risk management as an important mechanism through which financial inclusion can enhance business performance. Practically, the findings suggest that policymakers and financial institutions should complement financial inclusion programs with risk management training and managerial assistance for SMEs to ensure sustainable business growth and resilience.

Abstract

This study explores the economic implications of adopting digital dental technologies, particularly intraoral scanners and 3D printing, in enhancing cost efficiency and productivity within dental practices. The research addresses the central problem of understanding how digital innovation in dentistry contributes to broader macroeconomic efficiency and value creation in the healthcare sector. Guided by the Digital Dental Economic Model (DDEM), this paper employs a conceptual and analytical macroeconomic approach that integrates theories of endogenous growth, cost-efficiency analysis, and value chain transformation to assess the long-term economic effects of digitalization in dental services. The findings reveal that digital adoption significantly improves operational efficiency by reducing variable costs, minimizing manual errors, and increasing treatment throughput. These micro-level gains transmit into macroeconomic productivity growth, consistent with the Solow model of technological progress. However, the study also identifies asymmetric adoption patterns and labor substitution effects, particularly affecting small clinics and dental technicians, indicating the need for targeted innovation policies and re-skilling programs. Furthermore, the digital transformation of dentistry reshapes its value chain, generating new forms of interconnected economic relationships but raising ethical and data governance concerns. The analysis concludes that digital dental technologies serve as a dual catalyst for economic efficiency and structural change within healthcare systems. To sustain this transformation, policymakers should prioritize inclusive innovation, financial accessibility, and ethical digital governance. Future research should employ empirical modeling and cross-country comparative analyses to quantify digital adoption’s macroeconomic impact and evaluate policy responsiveness across healthcare economies.

Abstract

Advancements in digital technology have compelled the banking industry to undergo continuous business transformation. This strategic shift aims to improve service quality, optimize operational efficiency, and boost corporate competitiveness. Conversely, digital adaptation also introduces novel risks that require effective mitigation through the framework of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). This study evaluates the implementation of ERM alongside digital transformation at PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk from 2021 to 2025, while exploring their correlation with corporate performance. Utilizing data extracted from the annual reports of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk spanning 2021–2025, this research employs a descriptive qualitative approach integrated with case study and content analysis methods. The findings demonstrate that Bank Mandiri consistently strengthens all eight pillars of ERM risk dimensions, which include credit, market, liquidity, operational, legal, compliance, strategic, and reputational risks throughout the observation period. Simultaneously, the bank’s digital breakthroughs are executed through key initiatives, namely Livin' by Mandiri, Kopra by Mandiri, Smart Branch, Digital Ecosystem Development, and the Integrated Digital Platform. The synergistic integration between ERM and digital transformation significantly drives corporate performance. This positive impact is evidenced by a substantial surge in net profit, climbing from IDR 28.03 trillion in 2021 to IDR 56.29 trillion in 2025, alongside an asset expansion from IDR 1,726 trillion to IDR 2,830 trillion.

Abstract

The rise of remote work has prompted renewed interest in understanding the factors influencing employee performance. This study investigates the direct and indirect effects of workload on employee performance, with work-life balance and job satisfaction as mediating variables. Utilizing a quantitative research design, data were collected from 160 remote employees across major Indonesian cities and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that workload positively and significantly affects employee performance, both directly and indirectly through job satisfaction. However, work-life balance does not significantly mediate this relationship. Job satisfaction emerged as a crucial psychological mechanism that amplifies the effect of workload on performance. These results suggest that intrinsic factors, such as meaningful job experiences and satisfaction, are more influential than external balance mechanisms in driving remote employee productivity. The study contributes to the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) literature by clarifying the role of motivational versus strain-related mediators in remote work settings. Organizations are advised to focus on enhancing job satisfaction through recognition and meaningful task assignment, rather than relying solely on work-life balance initiatives.
