Abstract

A marketing strategy is needed by Program Studi Diploma III Usaha Perjalanan Wisata (PS D-III UPW) of Jember University, in order to increase more students. Since the last few years, the students of PS D-III UPW has been decreased. This study has the objective to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of PS D-III UPW, and formulate the marketing strategy, by using analysis method of IFAS, EFAS, SWOT and QSPM. The result of IFAS and EFAS identify that PS D-III UPW has 16 factors of strength, 14 factors of weakness, 6 factors of opportunity and 3 factors of threat. The result of SWOT identifies some alternative strategies, which are technology information, student motivation, cooperation within tourism industry, promotion, facilities, competitive product, learning system, quality of human resource, and involvement of the students at Jember tourism events. The QSPM identifies that improvement of promotion as the first priority strategy.

Abstract

The Kertalangu Cultural Village, located just north of Sanur beach, was established in 2007 and meant to be an alternative tourist attraction in Denpasar. Initially, this cultural village had developed as planned, but later on it faced a phase of decline. This article evaluates the  implementation of Kertalangu Cultural Village development program seen from the aspect of context, input, process and product. Data were collected by interviewing and distributing questionnaires. The total number of respondents was 97, determined using the Slovin formula, with the disproportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were analyzed by Evaluation Theory, Theory of Sustainable Tourism Development and Tourism Regional Development Theory. The results show that the implementation of Kertalangu Cultural Village development programs is still not running optimally. The constraints that faced are the management is not optimal, the limited budget allocated to the development of tourism potential and the lack of good coordination between the manager and the manager at the Kesiman Kertalangu Village.

Abstract

Waturaka Village, East Nusa Tenggara Province, has a rich tourist attractions, but they have not been managed optimally. Thi article analyses the village tourism potential and set strategies to develop tourist attarctions of the village. Data collection was conducted through observation, interview, and documentation study. Interview was conducted with as many as 25 people and was divided into four categories including representative of government o cers, NGO activists, members of tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis), and villagers. Data were analyzed by using SWOT techniques (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, Threat). The results shows that the main potential tourist attractions are Murukeba Waterfall and agro- tourism and the development is in the involvement stage. S-O strategy (Strength-Opportunities) is applied by using strength to take advantage of opportunities. ST Strategy (Strength- Threat) is applied by utilizing strength to overcome the threat. WO (Weakness-Opportunities) strategy is applied to minimize the weaknesses to take advantage of opportunities. WT strategy (Weakness-Threat) is conducted to minimize weaknesses to avoid threats.

Abstract

This article analisys tourism development strategy of Talaud regency, North Sulawesi Province. This regency has a great tourism potential but faces vaious problems. Its tourism potentials is evidenced from the diversity of the natural, culture, and man made tourism attractions. The great tourism potential has not been able to make Talaud widely known by tourists. As the outermost regions, the problems of accessibility are the main obstacles faced by the region of Talaud Islands. Other obstacles such as limited electricity and telecommunication access, and the lack of supporting facilities of tourism activities, have an impact, on the slow development of tourism potential in Talaud. Stages in the research were: described the potentials of tourism, then explained the obstacles that hinder the potential, and finally formulated strategies for the development of tourism potentials. SWOT matrix analysis is used to find the strategies to develop the tourism potential in Talaud. S-O strategy includes the development strategy of attraction. S-T strategy is the institutional strategy. W-O strategy includes the development strategy of public facilities and the supporting facilities at each tourist attraction. W-T strategy includes the making of programs intended for the community participation.

Abstract

Indonesia has many areas with the various tourism potentials but faces obstacles in the management, one of them is Suranadi Tourism Village in Narmada District, West Lombok Regency. This research aimed to analyze 1) the potential and tourism management system in Suranadi Tourism Village; 2) internal and external factors affecting the development of Suranadi Tourism Village; 3) the development strategy of Suranadi Tourism Village. This research applies some theories such as tourism destination development theory by Cooper (1993), irridex theory by Doxey (1976), and tripartite attraction design theory by Gunn (1972). This research used qualitative approach with descriptive method. Data obtained through interviews and observation. The method of data analysis in this research is by qualitative data analysis and SWOT analysis. The results showed that the potential of Suranadi Village as a cultural tourism village that is the potential of nature and culture. The various of potentials in the Suranadi Tourism Village as a whole has not managed professionally and optimally so that economic benefits are not fully felt for local community. The results of SWOT matrix analysis showed that there are four alternative strategies generated such as SO strategy (Strengths-Opportunities), ST strategy (Strengths-Threats), WO strategy (Weaknesses-Opportunities), WT strategy (Weaknesses-Threats). Kesuluruhan spirit uraian dalam buku ini ibaratmencari jalan ke luar dari paradoks dua kutub. Apakah fungsi dan peranwarisan budaya dari masa lalu untuk kehidupan masa kini? Abstract

Heritage tourism is a tourism that utilizes heritage or historical heritage as tourist attractions. The existence of heritage for Denpasar is regarded as the theme of tourism development in the future. Nowadays, the existence of heritage sites are more neglected and abandoned due to the modernization effect. In fact, if it is managed and organized properly, it will contribute many positive benefits. This research analyses two research problems focusing on the existing condition of Denpasar city as heritage tourism. Besides, it is by planning the heritage tourism model in Denpasar city. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The informants were chosen by base informants and snowball technique. Concepts used in discussing this research are the development model of tourism concept, urban tourism concept, and the heritage tourism concept. The theories used for this research is destination area life cycle. According to the results of the discussion, it can be concluded that, the existence of cultural heritage in Denpasar city is started to be explored and improved along with the objective and benefits owned by each heritage. The development model of heritage tourism which is now planned in Denpasar city comprises daily activity heritage tour.

Abstract

Film merupakan sebuah promosi pariwisata yang potensial sebab simbol dan makna dalam film memiliki kemampuan mempengaruhi respon penonton dan memotivasi mereka untuk mengunjungi lokasi yang ditampilkan. Indonesia juga telah mendapatkan manfaat promosi pariwisata sebagai hasil dari popularitas sebuah film, namun, kajian di bidang ini belum mendapatkan banyak perhatian. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mempelajari promosi pariwisata melalui film dengan menganalisis simbol dan makna dalam film ‘Eat Pray Love’ yang menghadirkan daya tarik rasional, emosional, dan moral. Analisis dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan menerapkan teori semiotika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa atmosfer Bali ditangkap dengan baik dalam film, sehingga memberikan beberapa petunjuk mengenai Bali sebagai tempat tujuan wisata yang baik. Petunjuk-petunjuk ini terdiri dari daya tarik rasional, emosional, dan moral. Daya tarik rasional dalam film berhubungan dengan manfaat sensorik, keamanan, kebersihan, dan aksesibilitas yang baik. Daya tarik emosional memberikan pandangan Bali sebagai destinasi yang menenangkan, indah, romantis, dan ramah. Daya tarik moral memperlihatkan dorongan untuk datang ke Bali untuk menemukan bimbingan menuju keseimbangan spiritual.

Abstract

Foreign tourists realize that health is as important as the need to travel, therefore travel health should be one important factor in supporting tourism in Bali. This study aimed to analyze the perception of foreign tourists to the performance of health services in BaliMe?d Denpasar Hospital in terms of ve categories of services that cover all aspects of the form of direct, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, as well as to determine the service indicator most dominant in uencing tourist satisfaction over the performance of health services provided. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires and interviews to the foreign tourist who came for treatment or hospitalization at the BaliMe?d. The result of the study shows that the perception of tourists to medical services is in the category of satisfactory and should be maintained, while the relationship between indicators of health services in this hospital in terms of the expectation value of foreign tourists to the perception of health services is very strong.

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate (1) CSR program conducted at Nihiwatu Resort, (2) factors that drive the implementation of CSR, and (3) implementation impact of CSR in ecotourism development in West Sumba Region. Data analysis was done descriptively qualitativeby applying stakeholder theory, theory of legitimacy, theory of corporate citizenship and impact theory. The results showed that CSR activities run by Nihiwatu Resort were not only incidental CSR but a sustainable one.The driving factors of CSR were as a form of moral obligation, to improve the company image, and to gain pro t. The social impacts were gaining government support and publicacceptance, proximity to health services; and easy access to clean water. Economic impacts include creating employment opportunities and improving economic structures. While the ecological impacts of the CSR programs are the the minimization of energy consumption generated through the use of vernacular concepts in all existing properties.
