Abstract

Resilience is a crucial element in helping teachers manage various pressures and demands stemming from dual roles as educators and homemakers. This study aims to examine the influence of self-efficacy and religiosity on resilience, as well as to test the moderating role of religiosity in the relationship between self-efficacy and resilience. The study involved 167 female teachers from state madrasahs in Medan City as respondents. Data collection was conducted through a survey using online questionnaires employing three measurement tools: the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), the Short Muslim Belief and Practice Scale (Short-MPBS), and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale-25 (CD-RISC-25). Data analysis was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). This research offers novel insights into understanding resilience among female madrasah teachers by introducing religiosity as a moderating variable. The findings indicated that: 1) there is a positive relationship between self-efficacy, religiosity, and resilience; 2) religiosity does not moderate the relationship between self-efficacy and resilience. This study reveals that although religiosity serves as spiritual support, the dominance of self-efficacy highlights the importance of tangible actions in overcoming challenges. The study underscores the significance of building self-efficacy and provides new insights into developing support strategies for female madrasah teachers. Field data support the hypotheses.

Abstract

This study evaluates the impact of group counseling on addressing learning difficulties in Arabic among students at STAI As-Sunnah Tanjung Morawa. With its complex morphology and syntax, Arabic poses significant challenges for learners, particularly within Islamic education contexts. The research employs a pretest-posttest control group design to assess whether group counseling can improve students' proficiency in Arabic. Data collected through pretests, post-tests, and qualitative observations reveal that group counseling substantially improves students' Arabic skills. The average percentage of correct answers increased from 68.89% in the pretest to 97.22% in the post-test. These results suggest that group counseling is an effective intervention for overcoming difficulties in learning Arabic and enhancing language proficiency. The study highlights the importance of incorporating group counseling into educational practices to support students in mastering Arabic and achieving better learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine Islamic counseling therapy to increase the happiness of broken home children in class X. The research approach used is quantitative, the type of research used is guidance and counseling (PTBK). The research instrument that researchers use to obtain the results of Islamic counseling therapy to increase the happiness of broken home children in students is by distributing questionnaires to research subjects, namely class X students of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Jam'iyatul Wasliyah Medan Tembung. After getting the results of distributing the questionnaire to students, the researcher can proceed to the stage of applying the Islamic guidance and counseling model in the form of prayer therapy, and dhikr & al-Qur'an therapy to students who experience broken homes who are at a high category level which is called a group experiment. Based on the results of the researchers' findings that the school has implemented the same thing as will be researched and conducted research at the school, but this cannot run conducively and does not match the expectations of the school because of a lack of seriousness and still a lack of control from the teacher as well as from the students. Students at the Madrasah Aliyah Al-Jam'iyatul Wasliyah Tembung school follow the hours that have been set for the prayer schedule and they all follow it properly and regularly but when carrying out the Al-Qur'an reading process there are still some students who are not good at all reading the Qur'an and for dhikr they can do it smoothly and well. So it can be concluded that Islamic counseling therapy to increase the happiness of broken children can increase the happiness of broken home children in students.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of mental coaching participation on subjective well-being and character strength among the wives of Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) soldiers. Employing a quantitative research design, the study involved a sample of 330 participants selected through purposive sampling. The level of participation in mental coaching was categorized into active and rarely active groups. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA to assess differences between these groups. The results revealed no significant difference in subjective well-being (F = 0.287, p = 0.593) or character strength (F = 0.980, p = 0.323) between the two participation levels. The mean subjective well-being scores were 47.55 for the active group and 47.14 for the rarely active group, while character strength scores were 54.31 and 55.06, respectively. These findings suggest that mental coaching, as currently implemented, does not significantly impact either subjective well-being or character strength among the studied population. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on military spouses a group often overlooked in psychological well-being research and in evaluating the effectiveness of structured mental coaching within a non-clinical setting. Practically, the findings indicate a need to re-evaluate the content and delivery of mental coaching programs to enhance their relevance and effectiveness. This study contributes to the literature on psychological interventions by highlighting the limited impact of generalized coaching programs on targeted psychological constructs within specific social groups.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services using positive self-talk techniques to reduce phubbing behavior among junior high school students. This research employs a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research participants consisted of 8 students from class VIII-7 of SMP Negeri 1 Bilah Hulu with high phubbing scores based on pretest results. The intervention was carried out through 4 group counseling sessions for 45 minutes per session. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test analysis showed that all participants experienced a significant decrease in phubbing behavior scores, with a Z value of -2.536 and an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) significance of 0.011 (p < 0.05). All data fell into the category of negative ranks, meaning no participants had scores that remained the same or increased. The results of this study indicate that group counseling services using positive self-talk techniques have been proven to be very effective in reducing phubbing behavior among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Bilah Hulu. The positive self-talk technique can help participants increase self-awareness of their phubbing habits, manage the urge to misuse smartphones, and improve direct communication skills with friends or family. Therefore, group counseling services with positive self-talk techniques are recommended for guidance teachers as an optimal and sustainable intervention strategy to reduce phubbing and improve self-control and the quality of students' social interactions in the digital era.

Abstract

Body image dissatisfaction is a significant issue affecting adolescents’ mental health, including lowered self-esteem and increased anxiety. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of group guidance using the self-affirmation technique in reducing body image dissatisfaction among ninth-grade students at MTsS Mandurana Tanjung Botung, Padang Lawas Regency. A quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. Eight students were selected purposively based on high to very high levels of body image dissatisfaction. The intervention consisted of four group guidance sessions using self-affirmation techniques over two weeks. Data were collected using a validated body image dissatisfaction scale and analysed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with SPSS 26. The results showed that prior to the intervention, 88% of students were in the very high category and 12% in the high category. After the intervention, all students (100%) fell into the very low category. Statistical analysis indicated a significance value of 0.012 (<0.05) with an effect size of -0.89, categorised as large, indicating a very strong impact. In conclusion, group guidance with the self-affirmation technique is effective in reducing adolescents’ body image dissatisfaction and can be applied in school counselling services. This study provides a basis for developing psychological interventions for adolescents that integrate group support and self-affirmation.
