Abstract

This research seeks to explore the perspectives of the Acehnese community regarding Rohingya refugees, emphasizing the contrast between compassion and animosity. The study utilizes a content analysis approach, drawing on secondary data from local Acehnese online media and relevant literature concerning refugee matters in Indonesia from 2022 to 2024.The findings reveal two predominant perspectives: sympathy driven by humanitarian compassion and Islamic solidarity, and hostility arising from concerns over socio-economic burdens and anti-immigrant sentiments. Sympathy is reflected in calls for aiding war victims, while hostility is linked to fears of resource competition and cultural tensions. The implications of this research are twofold. First, it highlights the necessity for culturally sensitive interventions to address misconceptions and fears that foster hostility. Second, it emphasizes the importance of public education campaigns and community engagement to strengthen values of compassion and solidarity. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and humanitarian organizations to develop strategies that balance humanitarian assistance with sustainable socio-economic policies, ensuring harmonious coexistence between host communities and refugees.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of organizational learning culture and self-efficacy on students' academic performance, considering motivation as an important mediator. Using quantitative methods and a survey of students at Airlangga University, data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling techniques (SEM-PLS). The findings show that motivation has a significant positive impact on academic performance. Although organizational learning culture does not have a significant direct effect, self-efficacy proves to be a strong factor. Motivation emerges as an important mediator in the relationship between self-efficacy and students' academic performance. Limitations of this study include a sample limited to Airlangga University, which may not represent the entire student population, and a focus on a few factors without considering other potential variables. Based on these findings and limitations, further research with a larger and more diverse sample is recommended. Future studies can explore other factors influencing academic performance, such as learning environment, social support, and psychological elements. A deeper understanding of organizational learning and self-efficacy on academic performance can make a significant contribution to the educational literature.

Abstract

This study explores the transformative potential of creating creative cities based on the concept of mashlahah mursalah, which aims to address economic challenges, inequality and achieve sustainability. The emergence of creative cities, originally coined by Charles Landry in 1995, is gaining momentum globally, with UNESCO establishing the Creative Cities Network in 2004 to identify cities with vibrant creative sectors. The research emphasises the importance of creative environments, cultural assets, and community participation in fostering creativity. In Indonesia, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has been actively promoting creative cities, with UNESCO recognising Ambon, Bandung, Jakarta, and Pekalongan. The Pentahelix model involving government, community, academia and business was identified as critical for sustainable innovation. While the findings are positive, it recognises limitations such as direct data still being a limitation. Overall, this research underscores mashlahah mursalah as a strong foundation for realising creative cities that focus on economic justice, equality, and sustainability through collaborative efforts among stakeholders.
