Abstract

Insomnia is a common health problem that interferes with quality of life. This study examines the potential of a combination of herbal ingredients in overcoming insomnia, including Valerianae Radix, Myristicae Semen, Eleuthroginseng Radix, and Polygalae Radix. Each ingredient has active components that contribute to its pharmacological effects. The results of the study show that this combination can be an effective and safe alternative to the treatment of insomnia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the potential for the development of indigenous Indonesian medicines based on traditional medicinal plants. Herbal medicine has been used for generations in Indonesia and has great potential to be developed into more standardized and modern products. This study covers various aspects ranging from product name, content, class, composition, efficacy claims, empirical data, standardization of raw materials, preclinical tests, toxicity tests, to clinical trials. The results of the study show that with proper processing and standardization, Indonesian traditional medicine can compete with modern pharmaceutical products.

Abstract

Background: Betel leaf (Piper betle L.) is a plant that contains many important secondary metabolite compounds, one of which is the flavonoid group. empirically in the community, especially in South Kalimantan, who use these leaves as a mixture of cold powder using young betel leaves as protection against sunlight.Objective: To determine the total flavonoid content of the young betel leaf extract fraction (Piper betle L.) and the sun protection factor (SPF) value in the distilled water and ethyl acetate fractions.Methods: The experimental method with a posttest-only control group design involved qualitative analysis using thin layer chromatography (TLC) and quantitative data using UV-Vis spectrophotometry to determine total flavonoid levels and sun protection factor (SPF) values using the Mansur method.Results: The TLC analysis confirmed the presence of flavonoid compounds. Quantitative analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometry showed total flavonoid content of 14.4 mg EQ/g (1.44%) in distilled water and 16.4 mg EQ/g (1.64%) in the ethyl acetate fraction. The highest SPF value was 17.29 at 600 ppm in the ethyl acetate fraction (ultra protection), while the lowest was in the distilled water fraction at 200 ppm (minimum category).Conclusion: The young betel leaf extract fractions showed that the distilled water fraction contained 14.4 mg EQ/g (1.44%) flavonoids, while the ethyl acetate fraction had 16.4 mg EQ/g (1.64%). The highest SPF value of 17.29 (ultra protection) was found in the ethyl acetate fraction at 600 ppm.

Abstract

Background: One of the typical Kalimantan plants that can be used as a source of medicine and can be used as an herbal ingredient is the Bangkal Plant. On the leaves there are various compounds such as alkaloids, steroids, tannins and flavonoids. Compounds that have a strong pharmacological effect and have a role as an antioxidant are flavonoid compounds.Objective: This study aims to determine the levels of flavonoids and antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of Bangkal Leaf (Nauclea subdita (Korth).Methods: This study uses an extraction method using 70% ethanol solvent and is soaked for 3 × 24 hours, the viscous extract produced is carried out a qualitative test with the identification of metabolite compounds and a quantitative test with the determination of flavonoid levels and antioxidant activity.Results: The results of the identification of metabolite compounds using color reagents obtained ethanol extract of Bangkal Leaf (Nauclea subdita (Korth) containing alkaloid compounds, steroids, tannins and flavonoids. The flavonoid level is 9.524 mgQE/g. The antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of Bangkal Leaf (Nauclea subdita (Korth) showed an IC50 value of 3.424 ppm.Conclusion: Based on the results of research that has been carried out, public knowledge relates to the rational use drugs for toothache. The need for information and education related to the use of drugs for tootchache rationally

Abstract

Background: This environmental exposure triggers the formation of free radicals, also known as reactive oxygen species (ROS). Apart from being caused by exogenous factors, free radicals are also formed naturally through physiological cell metabolism. Free radicals that are not handled will have a negative impact on humans, including abnormal changes that affect certain genes in the body that cause cancer. Carinate leaf extract is also qualitatively proven to contain flavonoid compounds based on Thin Layer Chromatography results which have potential as antioxidants.Objective: This study generally aims to determine the total flavonoids and antioxidant activity in carinate leaf extract (Rubus moluccanus L) leaf extractMethods: This research method is a laboratory experiment with a true-experimental research design using a post test only control group design. The control group in this study was quercetin (DPPH) and variations in the concentration of ethanol extract of carinate leaves as the treatment group.Results: The results explained that carinate leaf extract has a total flavonoid content of 143.8 mg/Qe/g with an average IC50 value of 1,32 ppm which means the antioxidant activity of carinate leaves is very strong and better than quercetin with an average IC50 value of 2,19 ppm. T Independent Sample analysis results obtained of 0.000 which that there is a significant difference in antioxidant activity between carinate leaves and quercetin.Conclusion: Carinate leaves have very strong antioxidant activity so that carinate leaves can be utilized as antioxidants.

Abstract

Propionibacterium acnes merupakan bakteri anaerob yang sering ditemukan pada jerawat. Jerawat pada kulit wajah akan menimbulkan ketidaknyamanan karena dapat mengurangi rasa percaya diri seseorang. Alternatif dalam mengatasi permasalahan jerawat, salah satunya dengan memanfaatkan bahan alam. Daun mahang telah digunakan masyarakat sebagai pengobatan jerawat. Daun mahang mengandung fenol, tanin, alkaloid dan flavonoid serta memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengidentifikasi aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak daun mahang (Macaranga triloba (Thunb.) Mull. Arg) terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah True Experimental dengan desain penelitian Posttest-only Control Group. Hasil aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak daun mahang memiliki zona hambat dengan rata-rata 16,45 mm. Nilai KHM terdapat pada konsentrasi 75% dan tidak memiliki nilai KBM. Hasil analisis Kruskal wallis sebesar 0,007 dan Mann whitney sebesar 0,025 dengan nilai signifikan p<0,05 yang menyatakan terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara variasi konsentrasi ekstrak daun mahang terhadap Propionibacterium acnes.

Abstract

Mahang (Macaranga triloba (thunb.) Mull Arg.) merupakan tanaman yang banyak digunakan dalam pengobatan tradisional, khususnya bagian daun. Salah satu senyawa aktif yang terdapat pada daun mahang adalah flavonoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan flavonoid total dan profil gugus fungsi pada fraksi air ekstrak daun mahang. Daun mahang diekstraksi metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%, kemudian ekstrak difraksinasi menjadi fraksi air. Penentuan kadar flavonoid total fraksi air ekstrak daun mahang diperoleh dari data spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Analisis gugus fungsi menggunakan spektroskopi FTIR. Panjang gelombang maksimum yang digunakan adalah 400 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kandungan total flavonoid adalah 1.211 ppm yang ekuivalen dengan senyawa kuersetin. Gugus fungsi yang teridentifikasi adalah alkohol, alkana, amida I, amina, dan alkohol primer.

Abstract

This community service aims to enhance the capacity of health cadres in Kindingan Village in blood pressure measurement using digital sphygmomanometers. The main problems faced by the service partners are the cadres' low understanding of sphygmomanometer usage, normal blood pressure limits, and pulse monitoring. This activity was conducted in several stages, namely theoretical training, practical training, and evaluation. The team provided grants in the form of 10 units of digital sphygmomanometers and 5 units of infant and adult weighing scales to support their role in community health monitoring. The training results showed a significant increase in the cadres' understanding and skills in accurately measuring blood pressure. The cadres are now able to understand normal blood pressure limits and utilize the pulse feature on the sphygmomanometers, and it is expected that this will improve the overall quality of community health monitoring, especially in the early detection of hypertension.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major health problem that requires continuous management, especially in areas with limited access to health services, such as Sungai Rangas Ulu Village. Limited public knowledge and a lack of health cadre skills in monitoring blood pressure are challenges in hypertension control. This community service activity aims to optimize the role of cadres in preventing hypertension. The training involved five cadres from toddler integrated health posts (posyandu) and five cadres from elderly integrated health posts (posyandu), with methods that included theoretical delivery on hypertension and its risk factors, as well as practical use of sphygmomanometers. The training results showed that 89% of cadres experienced a significant increase in knowledge and skills. Overall, this program successfully increased cadre capacity in blood pressure monitoring and health education, which is expected to contribute to more effective hypertension control in Sungai Rangas Ulu Village. Continued mentoring is needed to ensure program sustainability and long-term positive impact.

Abstract

Penggunaan obat tradisional umum dilakukan oleh masyarakat di negara-negara berkembang. Selain itu, masyarakat desa juga masih memiliki tradisi yang kuat dalam praktik pengobatan tradisional khususnya pemanfaatan tanaman atau bagian tanaman sebagai obat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendokumentasikan pengetahuan tradisional tentang tanaman obat yang digunakan untuk menyembuhkan berbagai penyakit dan mengubah pengetahuan lisan tentang penggunaan tradisional tanaman obat menjadi laporan ilmiah tertulis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif. Alat yang digunakan adalah kuesioner. Responden penelitian sebanyak 20 orang dari desa sungai rangas ulu. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan sebanyak 29 jenis tanaman telah digunakan oleh masyarakat, dengan bagian tanamannya berupa akar, batang, biji, buah, daun, dan rimpang. Tanaman terbanyak berdasarkan nilai Use Value adalah daun salam.
