Abstract

The development of the Mandalika Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is still running. Fluctuated economic and politic condition is in line with the changing national situation regarding policies of this SEZ. Being a new magnet of tourism, The Mandalika SEZ has demonstrated its role for coastal areas development in West Nusa Tenggara province. The sustainable development of this SEZ in the future are highly influenced by numerous action scenarios setting by stakeholders in multiple different layers. This research was aimed at analyzing a sustainable policy strategy for the Mandalika SEZ development in Central Lombok, Indonesia. It was conducted on October 2019 to March 2020. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and field observation. The MULTIPOL (a multicriteria-based policy analysis software) was used in seeking sundry possible implemented scenarios, policies, and actions. This research focused on establishing three scenarios, five policies, seven actions, and eleven evaluative criteria in analyzing the sustainability of the Mandalika Tourism SEZ. These numbers of scenarios, policies, actions, and criteria are established based on this research. The results of this research indicate the development of Mandalika Tourism SEZ currently can be conducted by integrating investment and local capacity empowerment (Blend-Based Scenario). The range values of this scenario starting from 12.2 (local-entrepreneurship policy) to 14.2 (man-made policy). This scenario accommodates policies both, developing local potency policies (local-entrepreneurship, and culture-tourism) and policies possibly opening investment (man-made, transportation-infrastructure, and adoption of information-communication-technology). The attention on balancing programs on either investment or empowering local capacity needs to be looked after by stakeholders in multi-level institutions. Abstract

This study evaluates the economic impact of the Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Rail (JB-HSR) project, a key strategic initiative for promoting balanced and sustainable regional economic growth in Indonesia. We analyze four major regional indicators: Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), investment, open unemployment, and poverty levels. Employing a Difference-in-Differences (DID) approach with panel data from 2013 to 2023, our findings reveal that the JB-HSR 's presence significantly increased GRDP and investment, and contributed to a decline in open unemployment within the directly affected regions. However, the project has not yet led to a statistically significant reduction in poverty, indicating uneven distribution of economic benefits across population segments. A spatial analysis further highlights substantial land-use changes around JB-HSR stations, reflecting the potential for future Transit-Oriented Development (TOD). These insights underscore the necessity for integrated spatial planning between central and regional governments, enhancement of local workforce capacities, and the implementation of inclusive investment and social policies to ensure the long-term sustainability and equitable distribution of JB-HSR project benefits.

Abstract

Tourism development was a national priority in Indonesia, as outlined in the National Tourism Development Master Plan 2010–2025. Labuan Bajo, designated as one of the “New Bali” destinations, was prioritized for its rich marine biodiversity and high tourism potential. This study examined the key factors that influenced the sustainable development of the region’s marine-based tourism economy. Primary data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) using the “World Café” method, involving stakeholders from various sectors. The data were analyzed using the Matrix of Cross Impact Multiplications Applied to a Classification (MICMAC), which mapped the interrelationships among variables. The analysis identified five primary driving factors: participation, infrastructure, regulation, human resource development, and training and education. Governance and conflict were categorized as relay variables, while coordination and information and communication technology were classified as output variables. Welfare, disparity, and income generation were considered autonomous variables. Infrastructure and participation demonstrated a strong indirect influence on income generation. These findings provided strategic insights to guide policymakers and stakeholders in developing integrated and sustainable tourism strategies for Labuan Bajo.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the use of the marriage contract (sighat) in Islamic marriages in Indonesia, based on John Langshaw Austin's speech act theory. The study used a qualitative method, collecting and analysing data from relevant written sources. The results of the study show that the kalimat akad (sighat) in Islamic marriages in Indonesia is significantly effective in creating marriages that are legally and socially valid. Analysis using Austin's theory of speech acts shows that the marriage contract has a strong performative function, i.e. it can perform the action of marriage and bind the two parties. However, the study also found that there are some challenges in the use of marriage contracts in Islamic marriages in Indonesia, such as a lack of understanding of the meaning and function of marriage contracts among Indonesian Muslim communities. Therefore, this study recommends efforts to increase public awareness and understanding of the meaning and function of the marriage contract (sighat) in Islamic marriages in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing severity of environmental problems requires higher education institutions to play an active role in implementing sustainable policies, one of which is Green Transformational Leadership (GTL). This study aims to analyze the effect of GTL on environmental performance (EP) based on student perceptions at state universities in Surabaya, with a focus on the mediating roles of environmental knowledge sharing (EKS) and green organizational culture (GOC). The study employs a quantitative, explanatory research approach. Data were collected via questionnaires from 179 students and analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method to test the direct and indirect effects of the variables. The results showed that GTL contributes directly to EP, and then EKS mediates the influence of GTL on EP. GOC also mediates the influence of GTL on EP. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the role of GTL in higher education, as well as improve organizational culture and collaboration in sharing environmental knowledge, to support sustainable EP.
