Abstract

The Indonesian government launched the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program that offers students diverse learning opportunities beyond the classroom. This study aims to investigate the implementation of the MBKM program in State Islamic Higher Education Institutions in Aceh. The study utilized a qualitative case study research method, conducted at three PTKINs in Aceh. It involved UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh, IAIN Lhokseumawe, and IAIN Langsa. Data were collected through observations and interviews and then analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal that implementing the MBKM program includes curriculum integration, experiential learning, student mobility, community service, research, and digital platforms. Efforts to achieve these involve partnerships, curriculum reform, digital innovation, faculty capacity building, experiential learning, and a quality assurance mechanism. Further, the success factors comprise institutional synergy, effective socialization, well-defined policies, adequate resource allocation, and student motivation. Conversely, the implementation faces challenges such as insufficient data reporting and inconsistent credit recognition. Given the study’s limited scope, future studies should broaden their focus to enhance generalizability and explore institution-specific challenges in greater depth.

Abstract

Essentialism is a school of educational philosophy that emphasizes the importance of core values in the educational process. This school emerged as a response to progressivism, which was considered too flexible and less stable. From an Islamic perspective, essentialist education has a strong relevance because it emphasizes the inheritance of noble values, discipline, and stability in learning. Islamic education itself is based on the Qur'an and Hadith, which emphasize the importance of science as well as moral and spiritual character building. This research uses the literature review method to analyze the relationship between the concept of essentialism and Islamic education. The results show that the principles of essentialism can be applied in Islamic education by balancing religious and general sciences. The curriculum must be designed to produce students who are not only academically intelligent, but also have good morals and are able to face the challenges of the times. The role of teachers is very important in guiding students to understand knowledge deeply and apply it in life. Thus, the integration of essential education in Islamic education can produce individuals who are knowledgeable, noble, and ready to contribute to society.

Abstract

Islamic and character education learning among urban Muslim students is facing serious challenges, such as low digital literacy, limited access to devices and the internet, as well as a scarcity of media suitable for the characteristics of digital generation. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a relevant and interactive flipbook-based digital module with Islamic character values to enhance the effectiveness of learning in the technological era. SMA Negeri 13 Banda Aceh was used because the Senior High School implemented Islamic law not found in other schools in Indonesia. The method applied was consistent with the Alessi and Trollip model, which included planning, design, and development. Additionally, this developmental study comprised learning module, in digital format, produced using Flip PDF Corporate Edition Version 2.4.10.3 in line with the Merdeka curriculum. Digital module was considered very feasible, with a percentage of 88.20% based on evaluations from material and media experts. According to the assessment of teachers and students, module was also very practical, with a rate of 91.59%. The results showed that development of digital-based Islamic and character education learning in Banda Aceh City secondary schools, in the form of digital module at SMA Negeri 13 Banda Aceh, was feasible and practical for use in learning. Digital module solved student learning problems in urban Muslim society by providing access to relevant, easy-to-use, and contextual materials to address the challenges of religious life in urban areas. Moreover, the results report the distinction of Islamic education by emphasizing the integration of values in the context of modern life through an adaptive and contextual digital method.

His model emphasizes the unity of religious and secular knowledge, the role of teachers as moral exemplars, and the holistic formation of students. Notably, this study highlights Al-Abrasyi’s practical educational strategy that combines classical Islamic values with progressive methodschallenging the dominant secular paradigm. The research contributes to Islamic educational theory by reaffirming the urgency of value-based curricula and offers a practical framework for reforming education in response to contemporary moral crises. Abstract

This article discusses the concept of fitrah according to Ibn Khaldun and compares it with three theories of human development in educational psychology: Nativism, Empiricism, and Convergence. In Ibn Khaldun's view, humans are created with basic potentials that allow them to develop through education and social interaction. This potential, or fitrah, includes the ability to think, learn and build civilizations.Nativism emphasizes that human development is entirely determined by innate factors, while Empiricism holds the view that humans are born without any special potential and develop entirely from experience. Convergence combines both approaches.Through a qualitative approach and a literature study of Ibn Khaldun's Muqaddimah and educational psychology sources, this article shows that Ibn Khaldun's views are most in line with Convergence theory. He recognizes the existence of basic human potential (fitrah) as well as the importance of education and environment in actualizing this potential. With this analysis, this paper provides a cross-cultural understanding of human nature and opens a space for dialogue between classical Islamic thought and modern psychology

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of technology-based Islamic education policies at SMAN 4 Kuala Nagan Raya, focusing on the challenges and opportunities in utilizing Canva as a learning medium. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results of the study reveal three main findings: Limited infrastructure, such as unstable internet access and a lack of digital devices, hinder the optimization of technology-based learning; Low digital competence of teachers in using Canva and other educational platforms due to lack of training; Student behavior that is not yet fully adaptive to digital learning, indicated by the dominance of gadget use for entertainment rather than learning. However, this study also identifies opportunities for development, such as the enthusiasm of young teachers for technological innovation and the potential for collaboration with digital service providers. Further analysis shows the gap between national policies (such as Merdeka Belajar) and implementation at the local level, which requires a context-based approach and ongoing support. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of improving infrastructure, practical teacher training, and cultivating digital literacy to encourage effective transformation of Islamic education in the digital era.
