Abstract

Understanding of complex biology material requires students' ability to select, process, interpret, and evaluate information from various sources on the internet, so that digital literacy is needed by students. This study aims to find out how students' digital literacy abilities are in biology learning at school. This research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study were all students of SMA Negeri 11 Makassar, while the research sample consisted of 105 students selected by random sampling. The research instrument used was a student digital literacy questionnaire consisting of 24 statement items with five answer choices, namely strongly disagree (STS), disagree (TS), have no opinion (TB), agree (S), and strongly agree (SS). Data was collected by distributing questionnaires to students using Google Forms. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive analysis by making percentages which were then interpreted based on the percentage categories of students' digital literacy scores. The research results show the percentage of each student digital literacy indicator, namely the finds indicator is 42,54% in the medium category, the use multiple sources indicator is 40,95% in the medium category, the selects indicator is 36,76% in the low category, the evaluates indicator is 35% in the low category, the considers source, message effect indicator is 34,7% in the low category, and the uses to produce original work indicator is 36,1% in the low category. The average percentage of students' digital literacy for all indicators is 37,68%, which shows that students' digital literacy in biology learning is in the low category.

Abstract

Digital literacy is important for every student to have. Digital literacy needs to be trained and learned to form a young generation that is digitally literate so that they are ready to participate in the digital community with confidence in communicating, sharing and distributing knowledge in a useful and efficient way, provides readiness to adapt successfully to a changing work environment and increasing self-control as a solution to the spread of false information that continues to repeat itself and is increasing in number. This research aims to measure students' digital literacy at SMAN 1 Kesesi. The methods used were filling out questionnaires and conducting interviews. Seventy-six eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Kesesi, Pekalongan Residence, Central Java, Indonesia, and two biology teachers were selected as the research sample in this study. The research results showed the following aspects: Firstly, the student's digital literacy questionnaire is 71%, which is classified as moderate in digital literacy indicators including finding, using sources, selecting, evaluating, considering sources, message effects, and using data to produce work; secondly, some of the things that teachers do to train these two skills are by inviting students to search for information via Google/search engines and video searches to support the teacher's explanations and using Canva to make some presentation. Unfortunately, teachers do not train them on how to search using appropriate keywords and trusted sources. Finally, teachers must be more active and innovative in maximizing the wise use of digital media to improve students' digital literacy.

Abstract

Investment efficiency is a critical indicator of how well firms allocate capital to value-adding projects. Beyond traditional performance metrics, the credibility of financial reporting shapes investors’ beliefs and, in turn, real investment decisions. This study examines whether earnings management (EM) influences investment efficiency (IE). The sample comprises 315 Indonesia-based firms observed over 2019–2023 drawn from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) database using a purposive sampling method. This is a quantitative study, EM is measured using performance-adjusted discretionary accruals (Kothari et al., 2005), while IE is proxied by the deviation of actual investment from its “normal” level (Biddle et al., 2009). Data analysis includes classical assumption tests, descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that EM has a negative and significant effect on IE. These findings are consistent with signaling theory, which posits that low-credibility, low-cost signals such as earnings manipulation heighten information asymmetry, weaken the linkage between investment and fundamentals. Practically, firms should strengthen reporting governance and align managerial incentives with long-term performance to curb EM and improve capital allocation. Future research is encouraged to expand the scope to the ASEAN region and incorporate using ownership structure as moderating factors to better explain the EM and IE relationship. This study is limited to the Indonesian context and further research across ASEAN countries is needed to enhance generalizability.

Abstract

The application pattern of downstream strategies for oyster mushroom derivative products as rice substitute food is an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing the value of oyster mushrooms as an alternative food source. This study examines the process of processing oyster mushrooms into various rice substitute products, such as mushroom flour, mushroom rice, and other processed products. The methods used include technical training, product trials, and market analysis. The results show that oyster mushroom derivative products have high potential as a healthy and nutritious food alternative. The potential and problems in the field were identified through the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method. Meanwhile, the implementation pattern consists of market identification and analysis, product development, production and operations, distribution and logistics, marketing strategy, and continuous evaluation & development. Collaboration between government, academics and the private sector is very important in supporting the development of the oyster mushroom industry and its derivative products. The implementation of this downstream strategy is expected to positively impact the welfare of oyster mushroom farmers and the sustainability of the local food industry.

Abstract

Nutrition education is a method used to enhance knowledge and improve attitudes and practices regarding nutrition. Although studies prove its effectiveness among school students, there is a lack of evidence showing the effect of nutrition education implemented among university students, moreover those in non-health fields. This article examined various nutrition education programs designed for non-health university students in Indonesia to improve their nutritional knowledge, attitudes, and practices. The literature search was conducted using Google Scholar and Research Gate databases with the keywords in Bahasa Indonesia "edukasi gizi”, “intervensi gizi”, “pendidikan gizi”, and “mahasiswa non-kesehatan”, focusing on studies published between 2019 and 2024. Out of the 13 studies identified, 7 reported an increase in knowledge, 4 showed improvements in both knowledge and attitudes, 1 showed positive changes in knowledge, behaviour, and eating habits, and 1 indicated an increase in nutritional knowledge but the level of behavioral change was not consistently achieved.

Abstract

The enhancement of students’ health literacy represents a pivotal element in preparing them to confront contemporary health challenges. Accordingly, this study evaluates the impact of a combined problem-based learning and collaborative mind mapping (pbl-cmm) framework on improving students’ capacities for health literacy. Conducted with 110 senior high school students in Parepare, Indonesia, this quasi-experimental study employed a pretest–posttest non-equivalent control group design focused on the excretory and reproductive system topics in biology. Three groups were compared: PBL-CMM, PBL only, and conventional learning. Health literacy was measured through the Biology-Related Health Test (BRHT) and the Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLQ), which were developed based on four literacy dimensions: access, understand, appraise, and apply. The ANCOVA results revealed that students in the PBL-CMM group achieved significantly higher health literacy scores (corrected mean = 77.70) than those in the PBL (65.09) and conventional groups (56.20), p < .05. Similarly, the BRHT scores showed consistent patterns (PBL-CMM = 78.17; PBL = 70.26; Conventional = 65.95). The findings suggest that the PBL-CMM model is effective in fostering comprehensive health literacy through collaborative, problem-centered learning strategies. Future research is recommended to apply this model across diverse educational contexts, larger student populations, and different subject areas to examine its broader applicability and long-term impact on students’ critical thinking and decision-making in health-related issues

Abstract

Abstract

Budgetary slacks are individuals behavior in company may deviate from the budget by projecting a higher budget for spending and a smaller budget for revenue. The individual's goal in performing budgetary slacks is to facilitate the achievement of the desired targets. The aims of this study are to investigate the effect of organizational commitment and organizational culture on budgetary slack and environmental uncertainty as a moderating variable. The samples are selected by purposive random sampling. The selected samples are the nine of Stated-Owed Company (SOC) in Palembang City's with 60 respondents. The moderating regression analysis is used to answer the research questions. The data are collected by the questioners that distribute to respondent. The research finding indicated that organizational commitment has a negative impact on budgetary slack and organizational culture has a positive impact. Environmental uncertainty is lowers the impact of organizational culture and strengthens the impact of organizational commitment on budgetary slack. SOC must build a good organizational commitment and organizational culture, and also consider environmental uncertainty, as these three variables influence the likelihood of budget slack behavior. The limitations of this study are (1) the questionnaire used was closed, ensuring that respondents' responses matched the answer options; (2) the budgetary slack is only explained by commitment and organizational culture; other variables are not examined; and (3) the research was limited to SOC cluster industry in Palembang City's.
