Abstract

The background of this research is the low value of the results of the ability to read the Koran for students in the Nur Akbar Al-Qur'an Education Park in Kampung Sawah, which is suspected to be due to the poor Iqra method used in carrying out the learning process. This study aims to describe the relationship between the Iqra method and the ability to read the Koran for students in the Nur Akbar Al-Qur'an Education Park, Sawah Village, Lubuk Basung District, Agam Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational type. The population in this study is all students who are in groups into juz amma and Al-Qur'an. Sampling was done by using cluster random sampling. Data collection techniques using questionnaires as well as knowledge tests and skills tests. Data analysis technique using the rank order correlation formula. The results showed that the Iqra method that had been implemented was still classified as not good, the ability to read the Qur'an of the santri participants was still relatively low with a poor category, and there was a significant relationship between the Iqra method and the ability to read the Al-Qur'an of the santri participants in Nur Akbar Al-Qur'an Educational Park, Kampung Sawah, Lubuk Basung District, Agam Regency. This means that the use of the Iqra method can have an influence on improving the ability to read the Al-Qur’an. Suggestions in this study are that the ustad/ustadzah pay more attention to and also increase the application of the Iqra method in the implementation of learning carried out, it is hoped that the santri participants will be able to improve their ability to read the Al-Qur'an so that it can be even better, it is hoped that future researchers can deepen this research with a more complete variable. Keywords:  iqra method, reading ability Al-Qur’an

Abstract

This paper describes the effectiveness of the ARCS model approach in improving the critical reading skills of elementary students at the basic process skills level. The research used a pre-experimental design method of one group pretest-posttest type with the research subjects of sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 107397 Cinta Damai in Deli Serdang. Data on students' critical reading skills were collected using a previously validated critical reading test instrument. The research results indicate that applying the ARCS model approach in learning critical reading can improve elementary students’ critical reading skills at the basic process skills level. There is a significant improvement in students' skills to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize the information they read and it provides a basis for developing more effective learning approaches. The implications include the integration of the ARCS model in curriculum design and teacher training as well as further research with larger sample populations and broader contexts. It is expected that the application of the ARCS model can enrich teaching at the primary level and advance students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Philosophy is an inseparable component of education, because philosophy is the foundation of education itself. During its development, there were various framework of philosophy, one is behaviorism. However, various opinions dicredit the use of behaviorism philosophy as a view that is not relevant to the education nowadays. In fact, behaviorism thought has many strengthen among its weakness. This thought is based on the view that education is a change in behavior, which can be changed through direction from educators by repetition of behavior in learning. The advantages of this thinking can be used in various learning materials, one of which is in the subject of biology, because this activity covers the competence of students as a whole. Educators must be selective in using behaviorisme thinking in appropriate learning, in order to optimize the strengths and minimize the weaknesses.
