Abstract

This article analyzes the dynamics of the socio-religious movement of the Salafiyah Islamic Boarding School (Majelis Pesantren Salafiyah--MPS) in Banten in fighting for institutional recognition. Using the perspective of resource mobilization theory and framing analysis, this research explores the forms of resistance and negotiation carried out by MPS in response to marginalization by government policy. Research findings show that MPS mobilizes cultural resources based on religious values and the identity of Salafiyah Islamic boarding schools as a strategy to fight against discrimination in educational policies. Through the formation of formal organizations, collective action, and policy advocacy, MPS succeeded in influencing the birth of Regional Regulation No. 7 of 2012 concerning the Implementation of Education in Banten, which includes Salafiyah Islamic boarding schools within the framework of recognized educational institutions. This research contributes to an understanding of how Islamic boarding school-based religious social movements strive for institutional recognition through a combination of cultural resistance and political negotiation strategies.

Abstract

This study analyzes how the sea fence phenomenon on the north coast of Banten is framed differently by national online media (Republika) and local online media (Kabar Banten). Through Robert Entman's framing perspective and social movement theory, this research explores how the two media represent the phenomenon as a manifestation of social movements, religious movements, or a combination of both with eco-theological dimensions. Using a qualitative content analysis approach to 12 news articles published in January 2025, the research found significant differences in framing strategies: Republika tends to construct narratives with moral-religious and ecotheological dimensions attached to social movements, while Kabar Banten emphasizes socio-economic aspects and local community solidarity without explicit religious dimensions. These framing differences not only reflect the media's editorial orientation, but also manifest ideological contestation in representing the relationship between religion, ecology, and social movements in Indonesia. The case of the sea fence illustrates how local environmental resistance is interpreted through distinct ideological lenses, shaped by each media outlet's institutional identity and target audience. Republika’s ecotheological framing not only moralizes environmental activism through Islamic values but also seeks to legitimize community action within a broader spiritual discourse. In contrast, Kabar Banten grounds its reporting in the immediate socio-economic struggles of coastal residents, highlighting the pragmatic and communal aspects of resistance. This juxtaposition reveals the dynamic interplay between national and local narratives in constructing meaning around ecological and religious activism. Ultimately, this study contributes to an understanding of the role of media in shaping public perceptions of ecotheology-based socio-religious movements and demonstrates how media discourse influences community solidarity and environmental consciousness in the digital era.

Abstract

Critical analysis of the challenges of science in Islamic education in the 4.0 era, the goal is to realize superior knowledge in Islamic education, especially in the era of disruption (4.0), so that in this study etymologically it is necessary to uncover and explore the views of the reformers. Islam in responding to challenges in Islamic education in the 4.0 era. This research concludes that in realizing superior knowledge in Islamic education, especially in the era of disruption (4.0), the solution is, the knowledge needs to be adapted to the current developments, this is because science is 1) unraveling, 2) assist (supporters), in realizing the development of superior Islamic Education through the arguments contained in the Qur'an and Hadith. The real example is the establishment of formal schools, from elementary school (elementary school) to Islamic boarding school-based universities that exist in Indonesia. In addition, in order to develop superior science, it can be done through an alternative paradigm of integralism, which is integrated through religious sciences with non-religious sciences which can be done by Islamic boarding school-based institutions. As a result, the relevance of the views of Islamic reformers to the challenges of science in Islamic education in Era 4.0 is relevant, where this can be implemented through the development of superior Islamic education through the arguments contained in the Qur'an and Hadith. In addition, in forming a complete generation and competitive superior human beings, the concept of Islam demands to always think, be innovative, have character, be independent, and religious in facing Era 4.0, where humans are required to be fast, precise, effective and efficient in carrying out life activities.

Abstract

The ability to read the Quran is a fundamental skill in religious education for students in schools. Co-curricular programs can play an important role in improving this ability. This study aims to explore the implementation of co-curricular programs in improving the ability to read the Quran in primary schools. This study used a qualitative approach with an analytical description design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, students, and parents, as well as observation of learning activities. The research subjects consisted of 30 students who participated in the co-curricular Quran reading program for one semester. The results showed that the implementation of this co-curricular program contributed positively to the improvement of students' Quran reading skills. Teachers reported significant improvements in students' Quran reading proficiency, as shown through increased evaluation scores. In addition, parents' involvement in supporting the program was also a determining factor in the success of students' improvement. This study indicates that a well-designed co-curricular program can be an effective solution in improving Quran reading skills. The findings emphasize the importance of collaboration between teachers, students and parents in creating a supportive learning environment. Recommendations for future research include the development of a more structured program as well as a long-term evaluation of the sustainability of improving Quran reading skills.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze critical theory and constructivism as well as the Islamic perspective on these two things. This library research uses various references and references from existing books, national and international journals. The data obtained is then processed with data analysis techniques through the stages of collecting data on critical theory and constructivism through various sources and literature, understanding and analyzing the substance of critical theory and constructivism, and finding comparisons between the two, analyzing the Islamic perspective on critical theory and constructivism, and carry out verification and inference. The results show that critical theory invites us to realize that it is possible for a certain ideology to deliberately take advantage of the opportunity to make us neglect, then exploit, and take oppressive actions. While the constructivism paradigm presents an alternative in finding the truth about social reality, it also raises a shift in the rationality model in finding and establishing rules to a practical rationality model that emphasizes the role of examples and mental interpretation. In Islamic epistemology it is believed that humans not only know physical objects, but also non-physical objects. Muslim scientists use scientific methods that differ significantly from western scientists. Muslim scientists use the observation method (bayani) which comes from the senses, the logical or demonstrative method (burhani) which comes from the mind, and the intuitive method (irfani) which comes from the heart. Keywords:

Abstract

This study aims to explore the development and conceptual direction of Digital Islam through a Systematic Literature Review and Bibliometric Analysis. Data were collected from Scopus (2020-2025) with an exclusive focus on the primary keyword “Digital Islam” to provide a more specific and in-depth perspective. Of the 561 articles collected, only four were included in the review analysis stage. The results indicate that academic interest in the study of Digital Islam remains relatively low; however, the topic is steadily increasing, suggesting that this field remains a significant and rapidly growing area of research. Geographically, the research is dominated by contributions from Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, the United States, and Morocco. These findings demonstrate that countries with Muslim-majority populations do not solely dominate the issue of Digital Islam. In addition, Digital Islam, developed from four published studies, presents an integrative framework that links religious authority, digital media, identity, gender, economic transformation, and socio-cultural issues. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of a conceptual foundation for future studies of Digital Islam. Practically, the results offer valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and religious institutions to navigate the ethical challenges and opportunities of the digital era

Abstract

Study of the development of Islamic Educational Psychology understands how Islamic principles interact with modern educational theory and practice. In terms of the philosophy of science, Islamic Educational Psychology is not only considered a branch of science oriented towards learning behaviour, but also a discipline that has a distinctive ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundation in accordance with Islamic values. This study aims to analyse development of Islamic Educational Psychology from the perspective of the philosophy of science and the history of Islamic education in order to understand how the integration of spiritual values, scientific rationality, and human educational needs is carried out within the framework of Islamic science. The method used is a literature review with a historical-philosophical approach, which examines classical and contemporary sources related to Islamic education and psychology. The results of the study show that Islamic Educational Psychology has undergone significant development from classical to contemporary times, with major contributions from Muslim thinkers such as Al-Ghazali, Ibn Sina, and Ibn Khaldun, who emphasised the balance between spiritual and intellectual aspects in the educational process. From a philosophical perspective, Islamic Educational Psychology seeks to develop an integrative scientific paradigm, combining empirical and spiritual dimensions in understanding human behaviour. Keywords – Philosophy, Psychology, Integration, Islamic Education.

Abstract

Gender equality in Islamic education is becoming increasingly significant in the context of the Industrial Revolution 5.0. This study examines how values exemplified by Indonesia’s Muslim heroines, like R.A. Kartini, Dewi Sartika, and Nyai Ahmad Dahlan, can inspire innovative approaches to promoting and supporting women’s roles in education. Through a qualitative library study, this research examines Islamic teachings alongside the contributions of these heroines, highlighting core values of justice and social responsibility. Its argues that the Islamic educational principles championed by these female role models can significantly contribute to advancing women's leadership capabilities, enhancing their digital literacy, and expanding their access to education. This study addresses challenges such as limited access to higher education, societal expectations, and cultural norms. It also highlights specific initiatives, including leadership programs, digital learning platforms, and family education. The findings suggest that the teachings and values of Indonesia’s Muslim Heroines have the potential to help overcome these barriers, it is possible to create supportive environments that empower women to take on leadership roles and actively participate in education.
