Abstract

In order to enhance problem-solving abilities, this study intends to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of student worksheets based on problem-based learning models. Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation are the five stages of the ADDIE development paradigm, which is used for development research. Class VIII pupils from Medan State's 4 MTs Preparation for the academic year 2022/2023 served as the study's subjects. The findings revealed that: 1) problem-based learning worksheets for students were deemed valid with an average value of 4.06; 2) problem-based learning worksheets for students were deemed practical based on experts and the implementation of learning with the implemented category good; and 3) problem-based learning worksheets for students were deemed effective based on: a) classical completeness which reaches 84.00%, b) student response to learning is 93%, and c) increasing problem solving abilities based on N-Gain values of 0.50 is in the middle range.Keywords: Student Worksheets, Problem Based Learning Models, Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Model Pembelajaran Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) tentang topik aritmetika sosial untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi dan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Pengembangan model pembelajaran dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development or production, Implementation and Evaluations). Keefektifan model pembelajaran RME yang dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan komunikasi dan berpikir kritis matematis siswa telah memenuhi kriteria efektif. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh tujuan pembelajaran tercapai, ketuntasan belajar siswa secara klasikal dari hasil kemampuan komunikasi dan berpikir kritis matematika yaitu 52%. Uji coba II terlihat bahwa ketuntasan belajar siswa secara klasikal dari hasil kemampuan komunikasi dan berpikir kritis matematika yaitu 72%.

Abstract

This study investigates the distribution and characteristics of the Adversity Quotient (AQ) among junior high school students in Kisaran Timur, Indonesia, within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes character education. AQ, based on Stoltz’s CORE model—Control, Ownership, Reach, and Endurance—reflects students' capacity to respond to academic and personal challenges. Regional data on AQ in semi-urban settings remain limited, hindering context-specific educational interventions. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, involving 1,046 Grade VII students from four public junior high schools. Data were collected using a culturally adapted and validated version of the Adversity Response Profile questionnaire. AQ profiles were analyzed using descriptive statistics based on both categorical classification (Climber, Camper, Quitter) and CORE indicators. Findings revealed varying AQ profiles across schools. SMPN 7 had the highest percentage of Climbers (60%), while SMPN 3 had the highest percentage of Quitters (25%). Across all schools, Control and Endurance scores were relatively high, while Ownership and Reach were consistently lower, indicating weaker skills in accountability and limiting the impact of adversity. School-level factors—such as teaching style, peer support, and access to guidance—emerged as influential. The data highlight that student resilience is shaped not only by individual traits but also by the school environment. These findings support the integration of AQ data into targeted character education strategies. AQ-informed interventions such as mentoring, teacher training, and reflective practices can enhance students' resilience and support the goals of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa buku cerita anak berbasis PMR pada materi matematika kelas IV SD untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang telah teruji validitasnya oleh validator ahli, kepraktisannya oleh guru kelas dan peserta didik dan efektivitas berdasarkan ketuntasan hasil belajar klasikal dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah serta hasil observasi guru kelas. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan atau R&D Dengan menggunakan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari beberapa tahap yaitu analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Buku cerita anak berbasis PMR pada materi matematika kelas IV SD ini dikembangkan lalu diuji kevalidan oleh ahli materi, ahli bahasa, dan ahli media kemudian dilanjutkan uji kepraktisan serta efektivitasnya. Hasil uji kevalidan skor validitas materi yang diperoleh adalah 83% dengan kategori “valid”, hasil uji validitas Bahasa 75% dengan kategori “valid”, dan hasil uji validitas media 87.5% dengan kategori “sangat valid”. Hasil kepraktisan ditinjau dari hasil analisis angket. Dari hasil analisis tersebut diperoleh rata-rata skor total kepraktisan 83,11% oleh dua guru kelas dengan kategori “praktis”. Ditambah lagi dengan uji kepraktisan oleh peserta didik sebanyak 27 orang dengan rata-rata skor kepraktisan 76,58% dengan kategori “praktis”. Sementara itu, hasil uji keefektifan ditinjau dari dua penilaian yakni: 1) hasil ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal yaitu 85,19%. Hasil telah memenuhi syarat karena telah melampaui batas minimal yaitu 85%. 2) Peningkatan kemampuan masalah dari hasil N-Gain berada dalam kategori “sedang” yaitu 0,62%. Sesuai dengan kriteria ketuntasan hasil belajar yang dijadikan acuan yaitu minimal 85% siswa yang mengikuti tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah mampu mencapai skor ≥75. Disimpulkan bahwa buku cerita anak berbasis PMR pada materi matematika kelas IV SD untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dinyatakan layak, praktis, dan efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji: (1) perbedaan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw denganbentuk STAD untuk meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematika siswa, (2) perbedaan penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif Model tipe Jigsaw dan STAD tentang peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi matematika siswa, (3) Untuk mengetahui interaksi penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dan STAD untuk penalaran dalam hal pengembangan kapasitas dan peningkatan komunikasi matematika siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan semi-eksperimental. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XI siswa SMA di Binjai. Secara acak, satu sekolah dipilih sebagai subyek penelitian, yaitu SMAN 7 Binjai Tahun 2012. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi: tes kemampuan penalaran matematika dan matematika komunikasi uji kemampuan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis varians (ANOVA). Hasil utama dari penelitian ini adalah keseluruhan siswa belajar dengan tipe pembelajaran kooperatif Jigsaw secara signifikan lebih baik dalam meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematika dan komunikasi matematika daripada siswa yang belajar dengan tipe kooperatif STAD.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze undergraduate students’ mathematical creative thinking abilities (MCTA). This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, with the research subjects being Mathematics Education Study Program students. Tests and interviews were the instruments used for mathematical creative thinking ability. The results of the research show that students' mathematical creative thinking abilities vary, as many as 20% are in the low category (CCTA < 33%), 60% are in the medium category (CCTA between 33% and 67%) and 20% are in the high category (CCTA > 67 %). Understanding mathematical concepts, learning experiences, and motivation all have an impact on students creative mathematical thinking skills. It is hoped that the results of this research can be considered when designing learning that can develop students' mathematical creative thinking abilities.  Keywords: analyze, mathematical creative thinking abilities, undergraduate students’

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology currently demands a transformation in the education assessment system, especially in Vocational High Schools (SMK). One of the challenges faced is the limited facilities and infrastructure such as computer laboratories that are not comparable to the number of students, so that the implementation of computer-based test (CBT) is less than optimal. The aim is to develop an Android-based CBT assessment system that is integrated with the Case Method in the Business Economics subject in SMK. This innovation is designed so that students can take exams anytime and anywhere, without being constrained by limited computer devices or internship schedules. The ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development method with the Waterfall Development Model approach to build the system. The developed system was validated by material and media experts, followed by small-scale and large-scale trials on class XI students of SMK Negeri 14 Medan. This Android-based CBT system is effective and feasible to use. In terms of usability, this system received a positive response from students, with high scores on indicators of ease of use, speed of access, and time efficiency. The integration of Case Method- based questions has also been shown to improve students' understanding in solving real problems in the field of Business Economics. The CBT system based on Android integrated with Case Method is able to be an effective solution to overcome the limitations of facilities and infrastructure in vocational schools. The implications provide significant contributions in supporting the digitalization of education and improving the quality of learning evaluation in schools.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to produce a valid, practical, and effective Mathematics Learning Module Based on Project-Based Learning Using Augmented Reality to Improve Conceptual Understanding Ability, specifically for the topic of Quadratic Equations and Functions. The research employs a development research approach with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects of this study are 34 students from class X-12 at MAN 1 Medan. The object of this study is the Mathematics Learning Module Based on Project-Based Learning Using Augmented Reality. The instruments used include material and media validation questionnaires, teacher and student response questionnaires, and tests to assess students' mathematical conceptual understanding abilities. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The validity of the learning module, based on expert assessments of material and media, received scores of 87.41% and 82.97% respectively, categorized as very valid; (2) The practicality of the learning module, based on teacher assessments, was 93%, categorized as Very Practical, while the practicality score based on student assessments was 81%, also categorized as Very Practical; (3) The effectiveness of the learning module, measured by the classical student learning completion rate, was 97%, with an average conceptual understanding ability score of 92.65%, and the learning time used did not exceed that of normal lessons; (4) The improvement in students' Mathematical Conceptual Understanding Ability after learning using the developed Learning Module showed a significant progress, with an n-gain value in the High category, averaging 0.7.Based on the results of this study, the Module Based can be considered and categorized as valid, practical, and effective. The learning module can serve as an alternative for teachers in their teaching activities and as a guide for other researchers in developing learning modules that align with the characteristics of the application of Project-based Learning. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of Systems of Two-Variable Linear Equations (SPLDV). The research subjects were 20 twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan, using a quantitative descriptive approach and a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research instrument consisted of an achievement test based on cognitive indicators C4 (analysis), C5 (synthesis), and C6 (evaluation). The results show a clear improvement in students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of PBL. The average pretest score of 16.55 increased to 25.1 on the posttest, while the N-Gain score of 0.63 falls into the medium category. The distribution of learning outcome categories also shifted positively: in the pretest, 7 students were in the low category, 10 in the medium category, and 3 in the high category; whereas in the posttest, no students remained in the low category, 5 were in the medium category, and 15 were in the high category. These findings indicate that the implementation of PBL can enhance students’ analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and conceptual understanding of SPLDV more deeply, making it an effective instructional model for improving the quality of mathematics learning processes and outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penerapan pembelajaran berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi pecahan di kelas VII SMP Methodist 9 Medan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pra-eksperimen dengan desain One Group Pretest–Posttest. Sebanyak 21 siswa diberikan instrumen tes berbasis HOTS pada tahap pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar yang sangat signifikan, ditandai dengan kenaikan rata-rata skor dari 15,48 pada pretest menjadi 72,14 pada posttest. Analisis kesalahan juga mengungkapkan penurunan drastis pada kesalahan konseptual (dari 17 menjadi 4 siswa) dan kesalahan prosedural (dari 15 menjadi 3 siswa), sedangkan kesalahan perhitungan masih muncul pada beberapa siswa dan memerlukan perhatian lanjutan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis HOTS mampu memperkuat pemahaman konseptual siswa, meningkatkan kemampuan analitis, serta memperbaiki proses berpikir logis dalam pemecahan masalah matematika. Secara keseluruhan, pembelajaran berbasis HOTS terbukti efektif dan direkomendasikan untuk diterapkan sebagai strategi pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan matematika, khususnya pada konsep pecahan yang membutuhkan pemahaman mendalam.
