Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to produce a valid, practical, and effective Mathematics Learning Module Based on Project-Based Learning Using Augmented Reality to Improve Conceptual Understanding Ability, specifically for the topic of Quadratic Equations and Functions. The research employs a development research approach with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects of this study are 34 students from class X-12 at MAN 1 Medan. The object of this study is the Mathematics Learning Module Based on Project-Based Learning Using Augmented Reality. The instruments used include material and media validation questionnaires, teacher and student response questionnaires, and tests to assess students' mathematical conceptual understanding abilities. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The validity of the learning module, based on expert assessments of material and media, received scores of 87.41% and 82.97% respectively, categorized as very valid; (2) The practicality of the learning module, based on teacher assessments, was 93%, categorized as Very Practical, while the practicality score based on student assessments was 81%, also categorized as Very Practical; (3) The effectiveness of the learning module, measured by the classical student learning completion rate, was 97%, with an average conceptual understanding ability score of 92.65%, and the learning time used did not exceed that of normal lessons; (4) The improvement in students' Mathematical Conceptual Understanding Ability after learning using the developed Learning Module showed a significant progress, with an n-gain value in the High category, averaging 0.7.Based on the results of this study, the Module Based can be considered and categorized as valid, practical, and effective. The learning module can serve as an alternative for teachers in their teaching activities and as a guide for other researchers in developing learning modules that align with the characteristics of the application of Project-based Learning. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of Systems of Two-Variable Linear Equations (SPLDV). The research subjects were 20 twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan, using a quantitative descriptive approach and a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research instrument consisted of an achievement test based on cognitive indicators C4 (analysis), C5 (synthesis), and C6 (evaluation). The results show a clear improvement in students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of PBL. The average pretest score of 16.55 increased to 25.1 on the posttest, while the N-Gain score of 0.63 falls into the medium category. The distribution of learning outcome categories also shifted positively: in the pretest, 7 students were in the low category, 10 in the medium category, and 3 in the high category; whereas in the posttest, no students remained in the low category, 5 were in the medium category, and 15 were in the high category. These findings indicate that the implementation of PBL can enhance students’ analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and conceptual understanding of SPLDV more deeply, making it an effective instructional model for improving the quality of mathematics learning processes and outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penerapan pembelajaran berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi pecahan di kelas VII SMP Methodist 9 Medan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pra-eksperimen dengan desain One Group Pretest–Posttest. Sebanyak 21 siswa diberikan instrumen tes berbasis HOTS pada tahap pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar yang sangat signifikan, ditandai dengan kenaikan rata-rata skor dari 15,48 pada pretest menjadi 72,14 pada posttest. Analisis kesalahan juga mengungkapkan penurunan drastis pada kesalahan konseptual (dari 17 menjadi 4 siswa) dan kesalahan prosedural (dari 15 menjadi 3 siswa), sedangkan kesalahan perhitungan masih muncul pada beberapa siswa dan memerlukan perhatian lanjutan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis HOTS mampu memperkuat pemahaman konseptual siswa, meningkatkan kemampuan analitis, serta memperbaiki proses berpikir logis dalam pemecahan masalah matematika. Secara keseluruhan, pembelajaran berbasis HOTS terbukti efektif dan direkomendasikan untuk diterapkan sebagai strategi pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan matematika, khususnya pada konsep pecahan yang membutuhkan pemahaman mendalam.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Pancasila Education learning evaluation in relation to the achievement of elementary school students' competencies, specifically regarding norms in grade V of SDN 060933 Medan Johor. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach involving homeroom teachers and students as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed inductively. The results indicate that Pancasila Education learning evaluation activities have covered three aspects of assessment: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. However, implementation in the field remains uneven. Assessment still predominantly focuses on the cognitive aspect, while attitudes and skills have not been systematically measured. Factors influencing student competency achievement include learning strategies, media use, and active student participation during the learning process. Therefore, the development of a more authentic and comprehensive evaluation system is needed so that Pancasila Education learning outcomes can reflect the development of students' character and understanding of citizenship comprehensively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' numeracy skills in fractions. The study used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The subjects were 20 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 106205 Pasar Baru who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a test in the form of six essay numeracy questions, which covered three cognitive processes of numeracy: understanding, application, and reasoning. Before being used, the instrument was first tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminatory power of the questions. The trial resulted in all questions being categorized as valid, having very high reliability, moderate difficulty level, and having good discriminatory power. The results showed that students' numeracy abilities were most dominant in the application category, with a percentage of 87.5%, followed by understanding at 47.5% and reasoning at 15%. Thus, it was obtained that fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 106205 Pasar Baru were more able to apply the concept of fractions in routine situations, but still had difficulty in understanding the concept in depth and reasoning in numeracy. Common mistakes students make when solving numeracy problems include rushing to determine the answer, not understanding the question's intent, and not following the steps correctly. Abstract

The implementation of the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) within the Independent Learning policy aims to transform students' critical reasoning through reading literacy. However, the reality on the ground shows that elementary school students' literacy skills are still classified as moderate, especially in understanding textual information. Based on this problem, this study aims to describe in depth the level of reading literacy skills of fourth-grade students at Tiara Private Elementary School in solving AKM questions based on informational texts and identify specific challenges faced by students. This quantitative descriptive study involved 30 fourth-grade students as the research sample. Data collection was carried out through documentation and a reading literacy test in the form of an essay that has been verified as valid and reliable. The results of the study indicate that student literacy levels vary across cognitive processes. At the information-finding level, 25 students (84%) reached the "Proficient" category, and at the interpretation-integration level, 21 students (70%) reached the "Proficient" category. However, at the evaluation-reflection level, 17 students (57%) remained at the "Basic" level, characterized by weak critical argumentation. The main obstacle identified was students' difficulty synthesizing information between paragraphs and connecting text content with personal experiences. This finding underscores the need for innovative learning strategies to strengthen higher-order cognitive processes in elementary school students.

Abstract

Quadratic equations are an essential topic in mathematics education because they contribute to the development of students’ analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. However, many students still experience difficulties when solving quadratic equation problems. These difficulties are often related to limited conceptual understanding, challenges in interpreting mathematical problems, and mistakes in applying algebraic procedures. This study aims to identify the difficulties encountered by students in solving quadratic equations and to examine the role of a problem-solving learning model assisted by Student Worksheets (LKPD) in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. This research employed a literature review method by systematically identifying, selecting, and analyzing relevant studies published in academic journals. The results indicate that students frequently struggle to understand problem contexts, translate problems into mathematical representations, and apply systematic solution strategies. Furthermore, the integration of a problem-solving learning model supported by LKPD can facilitate structured learning activities, strengthen conceptual understanding, and improve students’ mathematical problem-solving competence.

Abstract

The problem in this research lies in the lack of students' spatial literacy skills in the material "knowing maps" especially in understanding symbols, distance, and determining location. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe in depth how students' spatial literacy skills in the material "knowing maps" in grade IV SDN 060921 Medan. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach method, involving grade IV teachers and grade IV students. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the modelMiles and Huberman.The results of the study showed that the average spatial literacy ability in the map recognition material was 63.75, or had not yet reached the Learning Objective Completion Criteria (KKTP). This was because students found it difficult to read symbols, indicate directions, and determine the location of an area. Furthermore, teachers focused solely on map images in textbooks, so students felt they lacked understanding. The solution to this problem is to teach map material slowly, connect it to students' real lives, and create digital map media.. To realize this solution, the fourth-grade teacher sought resources to support the creation and use of the designed media. Furthermore, the teacher committed to teaching the material slowly and connecting it to the students' real lives.

Abstract

Reading literacy is an essential competency that must be mastered by elementary school students, especially in facing the demands of 21st-century learning. However, students’ reading literacy skills in Indonesia are still relatively low, particularly at higher-order cognitive levels. This study aims to analyze the reading literacy skills of fifth-grade students based on cognitive process levels, namely finding information (L1), interpretation and integration (L2), and evaluation and reflection (L3) in descriptive texts. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects were 19 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 060886 Kota Medan. Data were collected through a written test consisting of reading literacy questions developed based on learning objectives and cognitive processes. The results showed that students achieved high performance at the level of finding information (L1), with percentages reaching up to 100%. However, their performance tended to decrease at higher cognitive levels, particularly in interpretation and integration (L2) and evaluation and reflection (L3). Some students still experienced difficulties in connecting information, understanding implicit meanings, and providing critical responses to the text. These findings indicate that students’ higher-order thinking skills in reading literacy have not yet developed optimally. Therefore, it is necessary to design more systematic learning and assessment strategies to improve students’ critical reading skills.

Abstract

Elementary school students often experience difficulties in solving literacy problems based on reading texts. These problems indicate that students still struggle to understand text content, answer questions, and interpret information from reading passages. This study aims to analyze the factors causing these difficulties among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 060886 Medan. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects were fourth-grade students. Data were collected through essay tests to assess students’ comprehension of reading texts. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ difficulties were influenced by several factors, including low reading ability, limited comprehension of text content, limited vocabulary, and low reading interest. In addition, external factors such as lack of variation in teaching methods and limited literacy practice also affected students' abilities. The most dominant factor was students’ low reading comprehension ability.
