Abstract

Aloe vera has a compete nutrition which has function as natural antioxidant. The objectives of this study are (1) to know the business prospect in market aspect and raw material supply, (2) to evaluate financial feasibility, (3) to evaluate business management in the management aspect and production technology, (4) to average business development strategy of PT. Libe Bumi Abadi. The method of analysis used were (1) descriptive method which was used in collecting data of raw material, market prospect, financial statement, selling volume, income and cost, and strategic competitor; (2) feasibility investment method; (3) analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) and Internal-External (IE) matrix. The result of the study showed that the business processing of Aloe vera needed investment cost Rp. 687.750.000 and average of operational cost Rp.1.997.400.000 per year. It was a proper business because it resulted Net Present Value (NPV) Rp.383.606.492, Internal Rate Return (IRR) 34.39%, Pay Back Period (PBP) during 3.6 years, Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) 1.558 (> 1) and Break Event Point (BEP) 30,385.41 or 42.20% from used production capacities. The sensitivity analysis showed that the investment was susceptible with the decreasing of selling price 5% but it was still defend in the increasing of raw material 5%. Based on the SWOT analysis, some alternative strategies that are SO, ST, WO and WT. The strategy which recommended to PT. Libe Bumi Abadi is WO strategy; they are (1) minimal benefit and production, (2) finding the new partnership as a the fund resource. The result of the analysis IE matrix showed PT. Libe Bumi Abadi in quadrant V, which is growth. It showed that it passed through horizontal integration or consolidation by defending of selling level and profit

Abstract

One of model Micro Finance Institution (MFI) which in this one decade expand fast relative is Shariah MFI, the institutionthat more knowledgeable with Baitul Maal Wat Tamwil (BMT).Considering strategicvalue (BMT) and fact that assessment of performance of health BMT not yet done in this time, hence be conducted by this study/research at BMT Bina Umat Sejahtera (BUS) Lasem Rembang of Central Java. The aim of this study is know how the finance ratio influence performance of BMT BUS, that is factor of strength and its feebleness, also defining strategy needed in developing capacity of BMT BUS.This study conducted by (1) taking secondary datafrom financial statement of BMT BUS, literatures, journals, bulletins, and seminar paper, (2) direct observation at BMT checked, (3) and interview. Quantitative data analysis is done by blend analysis of finance performance assessment, a kind of CAMEL (Capital, Assets, Management, Earning, and Liquidity) for banking with ratio of efficiency and rentability from ratio sum up staff approach.So that this component assessment consists of capital structure ratio, solvabilitas, productive asset quality, liquidity, efficiency, rentability, independency and sustainability. The result depicted in radar chart graph. To sharpen analysis used with Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis. Result posed in this study is that Healthy Performance BMT Bina Umat Sejahtera in the year 2006 inclusive of category of  well enough, with its strength component ( score 4) in stories; level of financing risk of a period of to small, very efficient in optimalise of Account Officer staff ( AO) in serving customer financing, very able to activate society for funding and optimalise in portfolio financing, very self-supporting in operational cost, and very able to manage outstanding financing with existing AO staff. There is factor of feebleness of BMT BUS (score 1) there is [at] abolition reserve of risk financing smaller thanrisk financing which owning, alocate too high asset fixed asset, and its ability get net profit very minimize compared to by a asset and or the capital managed its.

Abstract

Packing made from wood is one of the choices in transporting commodity to protect a product effectively.  In 2002, FAO determined the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measure (ISPM) which is the standard that arranges the quarantine of plants for wood packing used in international trade. In Indonesia ISPM is done by Badan Karantina Pertanian (Barantan). The objectives of this study are to evaluate the feasibility of its Palembang branch, to arrange a suitable marketing strategy and to asses its possible development to become a single entity firm (separate from the main office). The analysis of the study in Palembang showed that this branch office is feasible, with an NPV positive of Rp 928,99 million and an IRR of 26,93% (higher than the capital interest of 14%), and a PBP for 3 year 1 month PBP (shorter than the 4-year credit term).  The IE matrix used shows that the company is in the first matrix position; therefore, the strategy of growth is used. From the SWOT analysis there are 4 alternative strategies such as S-O, W-O, S-T and W-T.  These strategies are formulated into the  marketing  strategy that can be applied based on mixed marketing: (1) product strategy: maintenance of product quality and innovation in the design of production system, to accelerate the production process and to improve productivity using skilled labor; (2) the price strategy: reducing price based on BEP calculation and applying cost efficiency; (3) the location strategy: closer to market and raw material resources and maintaining relationship with distribution channels; (4) the promotion strategy: introducing the company to  potential customers.

Abstract

After the economy crisis, there were 42.4 million unit of UKM os SMEs (Small and Medium Scale Enterprises) in 2003 or increase of 9.5%, compared to 2000 with a labor of 79 million. At the same time, (1) Syariah banking found its momentum again to grow, known as the negative spread, and (2) The Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) prohibits bank interest. The market share of Syariah banking is 1.20% and the financial distribution per November 2003 is Rp5,466.04 billion, dominated by Murabahah financing as much as Rp3,893.1 billion (71,2%). In general, the syariah financing is based on profit sharing and margin. The most common profit sharing in Syariah banking are musyarakah and mudharabah. The method of margin is done in the form of sales contract. The most developed in Syariah banking are murabahah, salam and istishna.  This objectives of this research are to study the characteristics and behavior of SMEs that influence the method of financing, to study the constraints in applying the profit sharing method, to determine the most suitable financing method most suitable to the characteristics of SMEs, and to determine the strategy of BNI Syariah to increase market share, and to compete in the Syariah banking industries. The analysis was done by using the qualitative descriptive, crossed tabulation, chi squared (χ²), and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT). Based on the analysis of χ², and the result frequency, it shows that the characteristic and behavior of UKM that agree with the murabahah financing system is highly significant, while those that agree with the Syariah banking system is significant, and that agree there are constrains in applying profit sharing method is significant. Based on the SWOT analysis, the strategies are (1) SO, by opening new branches to increase market share, changing perception towards bank interest, cooperating with Islamic Development Bank (IDB); (2) WO, by improving quality of services, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and technology, recruiting experts in Syariah banking and developing products, (3) ST, by using corporate image as institutional positioning, improving skills, simplifying procedures and processes, (4) WT, by cooperating with competitors, increasing product promotion and authority in financial decision. Opening new BNI Syariah branches in potential areas and improving products according to the consumers need, such as foreign currency, is the most possible thing to do. Key words:Islamic banking, profit sharing, SMEs, strategic

Abstract

Kuningan District where agriculture is the inhabitant main livelihood, has the potential for agro based industry sectors. One of Small Industries (SI) which sustain to grow since the 1960's in the Kuningan District is Tofu industry. The purpose of this study were to analyze business performance, to analyze the needs and feasibility of business development and to formulate a strategy in business development of Tofu SI. Data collection methods used were field surveys and in-depth interviews with related experts. Information obtained from the District Government and KOPTI. Data processing technique was using Friedman test and the AHP. Feasibility analysis of business development  of tofu small industry obtained NPV of Rp395.696.655, IRR of 38,72%, B/C ratio of 3.10, PBP of 1.19 years and BEP value of 260.304 units. All these criteria show that further business development  is feasible. Tofu business development strategy based on AHP analysis covers aspects of product manufacturing processes, waste management and business financing. Priority strategies to improve the quality of products is by training human resources such as scheduling techniques relating in utilization of raw materials, raw material selection, division of work, techniques for preparing SOP and also supervision and quality control of products. Priority strategies for waste water treatment efforts is the training of waste water treatment into biogas, producing nata de soya and biofilter. Abstract

Due to the rapid growth of the global business, the establishment of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which has highly competitiveness is necessary to be conducted. One of several important factors that influence the building of the SMEs mentioned above is the ability of innovation and technological capabilities, where the SMEs due to lack of access to technology. One of the reason why the SMEs do not have the updated technology is because they do not have the access to the Research and Development (R&D) Institutions which create the updated and the appropriate technology. In this instance, the SMEs is solely as the users of technology. In this concept of innovation systems, it is attempted to build an institution which has its role and function, as an intermediate actor between the R & D institutions and the SMEs.  This research was chosen one LI, that is the Technology Incubator Center (BIT) at Puspitek Serpong, which aims (1) to identify the characteristic and conditions of BIT, (2) to identify the factors that influence the successes of BIT as LI, (3) to formulate a strategy and feasibility of developing BIT.  Matrix IFE, EFE, IE, SWOT, and QSPM were used for processing and data analyses. Factors that influenced the successes of BIT performance were the number of human resources, fund availability and financial services, infrastructure, networking, appropriate services and serious/strong commitment for tutoring and helping tenants (SMEs). Based on analysis of functional feasibility, BIT has fulfill the requirement as a good organization, as an intermediary institution and as a business incubator. Based on the determination of QSPM matrix, there were three main strategies to be implemented to BIT are: (1) To increase the utilization and the use of existing human resources to enlarge  the number and to enhance the competitiveness of assisted SMEs; (2) To maintain and to enhance the quality and the quantity of technology services for SMEs assisted, via utilization technology produced by R & D institutions; (3) To maintain and to enhance the quality and the quantity of market access services to acquire bigger share of  market for assisted SMEs's  products

Abstract

Challenges facing companies in the era of globalization characterized by the occurrence of free trade. This study describes the competencies to create individual performance for the company to grow and to develop by using SEM to investigate the factors influencing the individual competencies at go public agroindustry. Data collection was performed according to the variables in this study by the number of 202 respondents in the sample with stratified random sampling. Respondents include employees at the level of general manager, manager, superintendent and supervisor. The results showed that there are five factors effecting competency, namely commitment, conceptual thinking, operational, achievement and influence. In order for optimal achievement of individual performance in the company's agroindustry, it is to be supported other characteristics, namely motivation, job satisfaction and engagement. The findings from this study are expected to be useful in the assessment of competencies of human resources, especially in the agroindustry companies to be used in the process of recruitment, placement, promotion and compensation to employees in a fair, effective way to support the corporate strategy

Abstract

Salon Kecantikan Keraton that was  established in 2007 is  required to improve services in order to compete in facing the competition of growing salon business. Since Salon Kecantikan Keraton was established, there is a number of customers decreased significantly, so the researcher is trying to conduct a study  in order to increase the number of customers and increase the  profitability of the Salon Keraton. The methods used in this research are descriptive analysis, reliability and validity test, chi-square, cross tabulation, IPA, CSI and SWOT analysis. Customer characteristics of Salon Kecantikan Keraton majority are women aged 26-35 years worked as employees whose income of Rp1-3 million. In general,  customers  get information from the banner that is placed in front of the salon. Based on the relationship between customers and the level of performance characteristics can be concluded that female customers, especially those who are  over the age of 40 years and customers who have income above Rp8 million more sensitive and requires more attention to handle.Employee and entrepreneur are easier to understand and comprehend the type of care provided, the frequency of visits depends on the services during the first visit can lead to good impression on customers, sources of information with a banner that is placed in front of the Salon Kecantikan Keraton’s staff are very helpful in providing information the type of care and price of Salon Kecantikan Keraton. The main priority of repairs need to be done about strategic accelerate Salon Kecantikan Keraton performance repaired relevate with cost and benefit and Salon Kecantikan can achieve optimum goals and easy for implementation.

Abstract

Healthy lifesyle with the slogan “Back to Nature” has become a new trend of the society. Directorate of Processing and Marketing, Ministry of Agriculture in Indonesia has initiated the program "Go Organic 2010" to improve the quality of life and the natural environment of Indonesia and to encourage the development of organic farming and sustainable competitiveness. Supply Chain Management (SCM) has represented overall management of agricultural activities which involved of processing, distribution, marketing, until the desired product to consumer. The Objectives of study included: (1) Identify the characteristics of the vegetables, the supply chain actors, and descriptive analysis of the environmental conditions in Pangalengan; (2) Identify internal and external factors; (3) The formulation of the strategy with the matrix SWOT; (4) Selection of priority strategy. The data was collected through purposive sampling technique which involving 10 respondents and 3 experts. The data used was primary and secondary data by direct interviews, questionnaires and literature study. Selection of strategic alternatives conducted using AHP. The result showed that the supply chain actors of vegetables in Pangalengan were seed suppliers, farmers, traders/collectors, the company, the seller/exporter, foreign markets, traditional market and retail/supermarket. The study showed that the safety of vegetables to consumer (score 0.336) was the main strength and the main weakness organic farming in Pangalengan was limited of financial (score 0.127). Futhermore, supporting of government was the major opportunity (score 0.127) and the major threat was uncertain of climate and weather which affected in production (score 0.144). Based on the formulation of strategic, the study obtained 7 strategy. The first and the second priority strategic related of the marketing, were expanding market/distribution to bussines partnerships (score 0.205) and researching of development in the organic vegetable’s market (score 0.180). The third alternative strategic was supporting of government (score 0.157) which retaled to supervision strategy. Moreover, the fourth and the fifth alternatives related to strategy of financial, were monitoring and overseeing prices (0.156) then strengthening of financial aspects (score 0.114). The sixth and the seventh alternatives related to production management strategy, were planning a better farming (0.107) and improving the quality, quantity and continuity of production (score 0.081).

Abstract

An ironic thing that Indonesia as maritime country have insufficiency salt problem. Salt is strategic commodities that can be easily produced by evaporation of sea water and policy salts have been issued since the Dutch colonial era. In 2011 the Government of Indonesia make toward self sufficiency salt policy. This research was aimed to analyze the implementation efectivity of Salt Business Empowerment Program (Pemberdayaan Usaha Garam Rakyat or PUGAR). The research design used purposive and snowball sampling to select 70 respondents in Losarang Village at Indramayu. The data were analyzed by using Quantitative Analysis, Qualitative Analysis, SWOT and MAHP. The result showed PUGAR in Losarang, Indramayu implemented with effectiveness. This is indicated by salt production target achieved and increasing the salt farmer welfare. Implementation PUGAR make salt productivity in Losarang 90,43 ton/ha, increasing salt farmer income, empower 17 the People's Business Group Salt (Kelompok Usaha Garam Rakyat or KUGAR) with the amount of 170 salt farmers, give technological innovation and quality salt production and give job for 778 peoples as salt farmers, farm workers and transport workers. Obtained result IFE of salt bussiness is 2,608 and EFE is 2,673. Moreover the research calculate salt business feasibility that known from B/C ratio > 1, business profit margin, appropriate salt area owned by farmers, business gap analysis of salt and break even analysis. Break even analysis to determine the selling price of the large volume of salt and salt production business people to reach the point of no profit and no loss (break even).
