Abstract

Ornamental fish is a fish that is much favored by the public because it has a beautiful color. The demand for ornamental fish is increasing every year both in the domestic and international markets, based on data from the KKP in 2018 the export value of hyacinth reached USD 32.23 million and in 2020 Indonesia targets to produce 1.8 billion ornamental fish. One of the ornamental fish that is much favored by the public is Betta fish (Betta sp). From an economic point of view, male betta fish cultivation is less profitable because of its poor body color and morphology. Male betta fish are more popular than female fish, because they have advantages in terms of color and morphology. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the highest male sex presentation of betta fish was in treatment P4 with a total of 91.11% followed by treatment P5 with a total of 73.33% treatment P3 78.89% to treatment P2 58.89% male and followed by male sex presentation the lowest was found in treatment P1 with a total of 35.56%.

Abstract

Catfish is a freshwater consumption fish that is most widely cultivated in Indonesia, occupying the top position in total production, catfish has contributed more than 10% of the national aquaculture production with a growth rate of 17 to 18%. Catfish has a fairly high protein content and is very competent to improve human nutrition, because it is classified as a high quality food and its uniqueness is a must. Due to the high density of cultivation, a technology is needed that supports the maintenance of oxygen content, namely microbubble. This research was conducted for 50 days by observing the growth of catfish in 3 different conditions, namely without aerator, with conventional aerator and microbubble. The results showed that the absolute weight and absolute length without aeration were 5.2 g and 3.5 cm. then with a conventional aerator it produces 5.3 g and 3.5 cm. and on Microbubble it is 9.2 g and 7.2 cm. Judging from some of the parameter test results, it shows that raising catfish using microbubble increases the growth rate and productivity of catfish.

Abstract

Catfish (Clarias sp.) is one of the economically important freshwater fish that has been widely cultivated both traditionally and intensively. Catfish has many advantages such as fast growth, resistance to disease, and can live in water conditions that are low in oxygen content. The use of microbubble technology is expected to support the performance of catfish farming with a biofloc system. With the application of this technology, it is hoped that the oxygen supply from micro-sized air bubbles will increase. Because the diameter of the air bubble is less than 50 µm, it is expected to last a long time in the water and can spread horizontally so that it can be utilized optimally by catfish and biofloc. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of microbubble technology on the growth performance of catfish. The research method used a completely randomized design, with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The variables measured during the study included survival rate, length and weight growth, specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and water quality including temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, ammonia (NH3), nitrite (NO2-), nitrate (NO3-), oxygen consumption rate (OCR), and total organic matter (TOM).

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that has the largest archipelago area in the world. Indonesia's vast territorial waters also present major challenges in terms of environmental management. One problem that is getting worse is plastic waste. Over time, plastic waste scattered in the environment will degrade into small particles which are usually called microplastics. Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is one of the economically and ecologically important freshwater fish species. This fish is not only an important source of protein for humans, but also plays a role in the balance of the marine ecosystem. Exposure to microplastics in fish can occur in various ways, including through contaminated feed. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of exposure to polystyrene (PS) microplastics in feed on the blood profile of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The treatments given were P1 without exposure to microplastics, P2 with 0.01 mg/0.75 g, P3 with 0.1 mg/0.75 g, and P4 with 1 mg/0.75 g. The parameters measured in the study were blood profiles, including hematocrit, hemoglobin, erythrocytes, leukocytes, leukocyte differential and survival rate. The results obtained in this study were that hematocrit levels and survival rates had an effect on fish growth, while erythrocyte, leukocyte and leukocyte differential values had no significant effect on the blood profile of Nile fish exposed to polystyrene microplastics.

Abstract

The presence of microplastics in the waters is due to plastic garbage that is difficult to decompose. Tilapia that live in the water has a high tolerance for polluted environments, thus making them vulnerable to microplastic contamination. The most common type of microplastic found in water is polyvinyl chloride. The study aims to investigate the effects of microplastic exposure on Tilapia growth and survival. The research plan used a complete random design (CRD) with four treatments and three repetitions. Exposure to microplastics in fish is carried out through feeding, with doses: without microplastic addition; addition of 0.01 mg per 0.75 g of feed; addition of 0.1 mg for 0.75 g of feeding; and addition of 1 mg for every 0.75 grams of feed. The mixed microplastic feed was given three times a day at a dose of 5% of the fish's body weight. Growth and survival data are analyzed using Anova; if there is any real impact, then further testing is done using Duncan. The study's findings showed that adding microplastics to specific weight growth, absolute weight, absolute length, feed conversion ratio, and survival at a dose of 1 mg per 0.75 g of feed was significantly different from treating the animals without adding microplastics. Therefore, we can conclude that a dose of 1 mg per 0.75 g of feed will impact the growth and survival of tilapia.

Abstract

Ekas Bay is a semi-enclosed bay and estuary in the southern part of Lombok Island. Ekas Bay has an area of 5,312.68 hectares, although it is not very wide, this bay has its own uniqueness and is relatively protected from waves because it is located inland. In Ekas Bay itself, two river estuaries are found, namely the Awang River Estuary and the Kelongkong River Estuary. The existence of these two river estuaries has a negative impact on the condition of the waters of Ekas Bay because residue from household activities is carried away by the river current, one of which is plastic waste. The presence of microplastics on ocean coasts has a negative impact on sea water quality and the life of marine biota, microplastics cannot evaporate or degrade by themselves, microplastics will accumulate in sea water and the body parts of marine biota. This research aims to identify the type and abundance of microplastics in the Ekas Bay floating net cage area and the results obtained in water samples were that the abundance of microplastics at point A was 49.44 par/L, point B was 55.76 par/L and point C was 40.40 par /L. The abundance of microplastics in sediment samples at point A was 12.25 par/L, point B was 10.8 par/L and point C was 11.01 par/L.

Abstract

The increase in vaname production is carried out to meet market demand which continues to increase from year to year, so that various strategies are carried out in vaname cultivation. Besides of feed quality and disease prevention, water quality management is an effort to regulate and manipulate environmental conditions so that optimal range can supports shrimp growth, until good shrimp quality is obtained. Location of the activity at PT Bumi Harapan Jaya where has produced a lot of shrimp with the best quality, so it is necessary to know how water quality management is applied there. The method is carried out descriptively, namely describing what is done according to conditions in the field. The results of activities in managing water quality are starting from the preparation of ponds, seeds and good water sources. Water quality management during vaname shrimp rearing activities applies measurements of physical, chemical and biological parameters, where physical parameters such as temperature and brightness are maintained in the range of 27-30°C and 30-45 cm. In addition, the pH remains in the normal range of 7.7-8 and salinity 30-34 ppt. Carrying out regular water quality checks is the key to good water quality management, in addition to that, regular siphoning is also necessary to avoid high ammonia content in the culture water.

Abstract

Silver pompano is a high-value fish, yet the cost of commercial feed is a major challenge for fish farmers. This study explores the addition of turmeric extract to commercial feed as a potential strategy to improve feeding efficiency and reduce production costs. Conducted at the Lombok Marine Aquaculture Center, the 50-day experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatment levels (control, 10 ml, 15 ml, and 20 ml of turmeric extract per kg feed) and three replications, totaling 12 experimental units. Parameters measured included growth performance indicators like specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), protein and fat retention, and water quality. Data was analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan tests to assess treatment effects. Results showed that turmeric extract significantly improved SGR, FCR, protein retention, and fat retention, although it had no significant impact on absolute weight, length, survival rate, or feeding efficiency. The optimal treatment was 20 ml/kg of turmeric extract, yielding an SGR of 4.92%, FCR of 2.48, protein retention of 18.64%, and fat retention of 22.37%, likely due to the presence of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, terpenoids, and phenols.
