Abstract

This study explored the shifting perceptions of Gen Z pre-service teachers regarding the characteristics of effective EFL teachers and their expectations of ideal teaching styles at Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM). The research employed a qualitative approach, utilizing semi-structured interviews with five pre-service teachers. The findings revealed that Gen Z values student-centered learning, the integration of technology, and the empathy demonstrated by teachers. They expressed a preference for teaching methods that foster active student participation and collaborative learning, in contrast to more traditional teacher-centered models. Additionally, the study highlighted the importance of adaptability in teachers, as well as their ability to address diverse student needs. These results suggest that teacher education programs must adapt to Gen Z's expectations by integrating technology, focusing on empathy, and fostering student-centered approaches in teacher training curricula.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the philosophical meaning and cultural values contained in the Balalap Api Dance, a unique cultural heritage of the Dayak Deah community in Halong Village, Balangan Regency, South Kalimantan. Using a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, this study combines literature studies, participatory observations, and in-depth interviews with dancers, traditional figures and community members. The result shows that the Balalap Api Dance has a complex philosophical meaning, including the relationship between humans and nature and the spiritual world, the concept of cosmic balance, and the representation of human toughness and resilience. This dance alsp functions as a medium of communication with ancestors and a symbol of the cultural identity of the Dayak Deah. Despite facing the challenges of modernization, the Balalap Api Dance is still preserved as a valuable cultural heritage, reflecting the local wisdom and spirituality of the Dayak Deah community.

Abstract

Abstrak. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi dasar siswa dalam bidang Teknik Alat Berat melalui pelatihan pengoperasian dan pemeliharaan alat berat di SMK Negeri 3 Gowa. Kompetensi tersebut menjadi bagian penting dalam menyiapkan lulusan yang siap kerja dan mampu bersaing di dunia industri. Pelatihan dilaksanakan selama tiga hari dan mencakup dua pendekatan utama, yaitu pemberian materi teori dan praktik langsung di bengkel teknik alat berat sekolah. Materi yang disampaikan meliputi pengenalan alat berat, prinsip kerja sistem mesin dan hidrolik, serta teknik pemeliharaan dasar dan keselamatan kerja. Metode pelatihan dilakukan melalui ceramah interaktif, demonstrasi, simulasi, dan praktik langsung dengan pendampingan instruktur. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test, observasi praktik, serta kuesioner kepuasan peserta. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa secara signifikan, dengan seluruh peserta menyatakan kegiatan ini bermanfaat, di antaranya 71% menilai sangat bermanfaat. Kegiatan ini juga menghasilkan modul pelatihan sebagai bahan ajar berkelanjutan di sekolah. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini efektif dalam mendukung penguatan kompetensi siswa sekaligus memperkuat sinergi antara institusi pendidikan dan kebutuhan industri.Kata Kunci: Kompetensi siswa, Teknik Alat Berat

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan kebiasaan belajar kosakata bahasa Inggris secara mandiri di kalangan siswa MTs Aisyiyah Sungguminasa melalui pengembangan dan implementasi Vocabulary Improvement Book (VIBOOK), sebuah buku tantangan 30 hari yang dirancang dengan pendekatan pembiasaan berbasis teori Atomic Habits oleh James Clear. Kegiatan ini dilakukan selama tiga hari uji coba dengan tiga strategi utama: identity-based habit, set a clear time and place, dan use visual cues. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR), yang melibatkan siswa dan guru dalam seluruh proses perencanaan hingga pelaksanaan. Refleksi harian peserta dianalisis secara tematik untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas strategi pembiasaan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan habit-forming dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan kesadaran siswa dalam belajar kosakata secara konsisten. VIBOOK berpotensi menjadi media pembelajaran yang relevan, aplikatif, dan mampu mendorong budaya belajar mandiri dalam konteks sekolah dengan keterbatasan fasilitas.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has transformed administrative processes in the education sector, driving the need for modern and efficient solutions. At SMA Negeri 2 Bungku, tuition payment (SPP) management was previously conducted manually, posing risks such as data inaccuracy, loss, and delays in reporting. This study introduces an innovative web-based tuition payment information system developed using the CodeIgniter framework and the Waterfall development model, encompassing stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The proposed system offers a significant shift from manual to automated financial administration, enabling real-time data recording, transparent transaction histories, and automated report generation. A key innovation lies in the integration of features such as digital receipts, printable transaction summaries, and centralized student data management, all accessible through a user-friendly web interface. Evaluation results show a marked improvement in administrative efficiency, user satisfaction, and data accuracy. This system not only streamlines school financial operations but also sets a practical example for other educational institutions seeking to digitize their administrative services. The research contributes to the development of scalable and adaptable digital solutions in the education sector, enhancing transparency, accountability, and service quality.

Abstract

This study examines the role of polysemy awareness of the verbs get and make through learning podcasts in improving EFL students’ collocational speaking ability. The basis of this study is the finding that the meaning variation of polysemous words often causes collocational errors in spoken language. At the same time, podcasts provide rich audio contexts that facilitate semantic comprehension. The study's objectives were to test the effectiveness of increasing polysemy awareness of collocational speaking accuracy and fluency and to explore the learning mechanisms of participants. The Mixed-Methods Sequential Explanatory Method was applied through a quantitative phase, pre-test and post-test of speaking collocations on 60 EFL students randomly divided into experimental and control groups, followed by a qualitative phase in the form of stimulated-recall interviews with 10 participants. The collocation assessment instrument showed high inter-rater reliability (α = 0.87). The quantitative results indicated a significant increase in accuracy (p < 0.05; d > 0.8) and a 20% increase in fluency scores in the experimental group. The qualitative findings revealed that participants utilized audio context clues to distinguish polysemous meanings before selecting collocations, shifting from a rote strategy to a contextual approach. In conclusion, integrating polysemy awareness in podcast materials effectively improves speaking collocational ability and strengthens the theory of contextual semantic learning. The implications of this study include the development of audio modules focused on polysemy semantics, teacher training, and further research on long-term retention and adaptation of materials based on proficiency.

Abstract

Nilai-nilai karakter di kalangan mahasiswa saat ini menunjukkan gejala pelunturan yang signifikan, ditandai krisis moral seperti penyalahgunaan narkoba, tawuran pelajar, serta merosotnya semangat nasionalisme. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai kejuangan Pangeran Hidayatullah dan mengkaji efektivitas penerapan model keteladanan dalam proses internalisasi nilai pada mahasiswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif-analitis dengan pengumpulan data meliputi studi dokumentasi, observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, angket/kuesioner serta pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga nilai utama kejuangan Pangeran Hidayatullah yang relevan untuk dijadikan contoh teladan, yaitu nilai keberanian, religiusitas, dan solidaritas. Penerapan model keteladanan terbukti mampu meningkatkan pemahaman dan aktualisasi nilai kejuangan mahasiswa dalam aktivitas akademik dan non-akademik. Simpulan penelitian bahwa model keteladanan berbasis nilai-nilai kejuangan Pangeran Hidayatullah efektif sebagai strategi pendidikan karakter di perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

Penguatan kompetensi guru dalam menyusun instrumen evaluasi pembelajaran menjadi kebutuhan penting dalam menghadapi tuntutan kurikulum abad ke-21. Salah satu tantangan yang dihadapi guru STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), khususnya guru Matematika, Biologi, Fisika, dan Kimia, adalah keterbatasan dalam menyusun soal berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) serta minimnya pemahaman terhadap pendekatan computational thinking (CT). Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam merancang soal evaluasi yang mengintegrasikan prinsip HOTS dan CT secara sistematis dan kontekstual. Pelatihan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 26–27 Mei 2025 di SMP dan SMA Al Biruni dalam bentuk workshop interaktif yang melibatkan pemaparan materi, studi kasus, diskusi kelompok, dan praktik penyusunan soal. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test, yang menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata skor peserta dari 58 menjadi 83. Selain itu, hasil angket kepuasan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta merasa sangat puas dengan relevansi dan efektivitas pelatihan. Hasil penyusunan soal menunjukkan bahwa peserta mampu mengintegrasikan elemen HOTS dan CT dalam soal yang berbasis konteks dan menuntut pemikiran kritis. Kegiatan ini berhasil menjawab kebutuhan guru akan peningkatan kompetensi evaluatif dan memberikan dasar bagi replikasi program serupa di sekolah lain.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh pembelajaran Teaching Factory terhadap kemampuan praktik kerja siswa SMK Negeri 3 Gowa pada Program Keahlian Teknik Alat Berat. Metode yang digunakan adalah regresi linear sederhana dengan sampel 40 siswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran Teaching Factory berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kemampuan praktik kerja siswa dengan kontribusi sebesar 44,6%. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa model Teaching Factory efektif meningkatkan keterampilan praktik siswa sehingga lebih siap menghadapi tuntutan dunia industri. Rekomendasi diberikan untuk pengembangan berkelanjutan kolaborasi sekolah dan industri dalam pembelajaran kejuruan.

Abstract

At the micro or local level, many Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs are beneficial to communities. Most CSR initiatives focus on the economic aspect through income-generating activities. Previous researchers have extensively discussed the implementation processes and benefits of CSR programs for communities. However, a common challenge in the implementation of these programs is the difficulty faced by organizers in engaging target groups, due to factors such as family communication and internal references. This issue has attracted researchers to explore how communication influences decision-making regarding participation among beneficiaries or target groups of CSR programs, particularly in ensuring that the economic objectives set for target families can be successfully achieved. This study employs a qualitative method, utilizing structured interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) involving 120 informants from CSR target groups considered representative. The findings indicate that the head of the household, as the primary target of the CSR program, communicates with his spouse and extended family when making decisions. The involvement of individuals outside the extended family is based on considerations of trust. The outcomes of these communication processes—among the head of the family, spouse, extended family, and trusted individuals—are significant in shaping a family’s decision to participate in a CSR program. Understanding who serves as a source of influence and inspiration in encouraging families to engage in CSR activities can enhance participation and interest among target communities, ultimately contributing to the success of the program.
