Abstract

Gender equality is a fundamental element of Human Rights and an important aspect of modern society today. However, gender stereotypes remain a significant obstacle to achieving social justice, creating a noticeable gap between the principles outlined in the constitution and the social realities faced by women and gender minority groups. This research aims to examine the protection of fundamental rights and the principle of gender equality, focusing on the role of the constitution in supporting gender equality, as well as identifying the obstacles and challenges in implementing the constitution that ensures gender justice and human rights protection in Indonesia. The methodology used is a normative legal approach through an in-depth and comprehensive literature study to thoroughly identify the research problems. The study found that although gender equality is recognized as a fundamental human right in the Indonesian Constitution, many obstacles hinder its implementation. Therefore, collaboration between various parties, including the government, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and NGOs, is necessary to ensure that gender equality can be effectively implemented and women's rights can be protected in Indonesia.

Abstract

The background highlights observed issues in PPKn learning, where students perceive the subject as boring, leading to passive participation and unconducive classroom conditions. The purpose of writing this article is to identify the problems in Civics learning and to examine the impact of applying the Teams Game Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model in Civics education. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with case study analysis, and data collection methods included observation, literature study, and visual analysis. The subjects of this research were students of class 7B at SMP Negeri 1 Mlati. The results showed that there was a problem in learning Civics subjects, namely that students were less active and considered Civics boring, with a lack of learning motivation. However, the application of the Teams Game Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model in Civics learning made students more focused, active, varied, creative, and enthusiastic. The learning process became interactive, educational, fun, and conducive. Classroom conditions improved, and students were able to be responsible, cooperate, and compete fairly during the learning process. The implications suggest that innovative learning models like TGT can revitalize PPKn education by making it more student-centered and dynamic, aligning with national education goals.

Abstract

This study analysed critical discourse on digital citizens' comments regarding the Ridwan Kamil-Lisa Mariana case and interprets the concept of digital citizenship. This study used a qualitative approach with Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (text, discourse practice, and socio-cultural practice). Data was collected using netnography techniques from 4,289 comments on the YouTube platform from six news and entertainment channels. The data was processed with NVivo 15 and visualised through matrix coding queries and word clouds. The results of the study show: 1. Critical discourse analysis on the text dimension shows that digital citizens' comments often use religious and moral diction such as ‘adultery’, ‘sin’, ‘mistress’, ‘cheap’, which function as labelling and symbolic punishment. The discourse practice dimension shows that comments easily spread following viral trends, so that emotional opinions are more quickly accepted than clarifications, resulting in moral activism turning into collective surveillance. The socio-cultural dimension is related to religious culture and social control in Indonesia, but in the digital space, these values have changed into mass pressure and digital vigilantism. 2. The shift from activism to bullying occurs due to virality, accompanied by negative labelling and religious undertones. Digital citizens tend to ignore four crucial elements related to digital citizenship, such as ethics, law, literacy, and rights and responsibilities. Therefore, these four elements need to be strengthened so that online participation does not turn into bullying.

Abstract

This study was conducted to (1) identify the content of ecological citizenship in the Pancasila and Citizenship Education subject textbook and (2) describe the development of ecological citizenship as teaching material in Pancasila and Citizenship Education subjects at the secondary education level. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis methods. Data collection was carried out through reading, observing the contents of the book, and taking notes with careful analysis of the ecological citizenship content contained in the textbook. The unit of analysis in this study was the content of ecological citizenship in the form of text, material descriptions, pictures, tables, and student competency test assignments containing material about the environment. The data were analyzed by examining the content on each page of the book, which consisted of several stages which are (1) data collection; (2) recording; (3) reduction; (4) conclusions; (5) description of study results. The results showed that thematically there was no material content that focused and specifically discussed ecological citizenship in the Pancasila and Citizenship Education subject textbook at secondary education. Limited content of the new environment was presented via pictures and short descriptions. The development of ecological citizenship in the Pancasila and Citizenship Education subject was carried out by developing core competencies and basic competencies of Pancasila and Citizenship Education which emphasize the formation of knowledge, skills, character of ecological citizenship competencies

Abstract

Many Civic Education courses in higher education suffer from low student engagement, primarily due to passive learning models that limit motivation and collaborative interaction. Although cooperative learning strategies have been widely studied in primary and secondary education, their integration into civic-oriented university courses remains underexplored. This study investigates the application of the Group Investigation (GI) model to improve university students’ learning motivation and collaboration in Civic Education. Employing a participatory action research approach in a higher education setting, the study was conducted in two cycles involving 68 undergraduate students enrolled in a general education course. Data were collected using observation sheets, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired-sample t-tests, while qualitative data were examined through thematic analysis. The results showed a statistically significant improvement in students' learning motivation (from M = 73.7 to M = 84.2, p < 0.001) and collaborative character (from M = 71.4 to M = 83.6, p < 0.001). These findings suggest that the GI model supports both the affective and cognitive aspects of learning by promoting student autonomy, inquiry-based dialogue, and mutual responsibility. Theoretically, this study contributes to the literature on cooperative learning in higher education and the design of democratic learning environments in Civic Education. Practically, it offers an adaptable model for educators seeking to develop soft skills through group-based inquiries. The research implies that integrating cooperative methods into civic education may offer a viable pathway for developing character and motivation in future professionals.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the implementation of problem-based learning (PBL) in increasing student learning participation in Pancasila and Citizenship Education subjects. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. The study was conducted in class VIII C of SMP Negeri 1 Mlati, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The results show that the problem-based learning model is able to increase student learning participation, with the highest score reaching 76.7%. This result meets the criteria for the "high" category in student participation achievement. Problem-based learning encourages students to discuss, collaborate, ask questions, express opinions, provide input, make presentations, and become more active and creative. The implication of this study is that PBL can be effectively implemented as a student-centered learning strategy to address low participation in civic education, particularly in classroom settings where passive learning has been prevalent. After implementing problem-based learning, students experienced many positive changes in their learning behavior and engagement
