Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of the research is to provide an overview to educators regarding the practice of implementing direct interactive learning strategies, in which errors considered common often occur. In this case, they are not believed to be mistakes, whereas they are not implemented by the theory, such as the absence of implementation of clarification in the learning process. Methods – This research is qualitative type. Therefore, the data is collected by observation. Observations were carried out in the classrooms of students of the 5th semester Islamic Religious Education study program at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta. The data analysis used is the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of steps for data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Findings – The results of this research indicate that the implementation of interactive learning strategies in the classroom contains a sequence of steps by theory, commencing with goals and establishing a set, explanation or demonstration of knowledge, guided practice, checking understanding and providing feedback, as well as extended practice and expanding transfers. Nonetheless, the two steps are combined into one by the educator who implements them.Research Implications – This research is limited to the application of interactive direct learning strategies. In this case, the obstacle in this strategy is the difficulty in generalizing several steps in the learning strategy since there are steps combined into one. The researcher hopes that this research can be a guide for educators in implementing interactive direct learning strategies in the classroom.

Abstract

Community service activities carried out by the community service team for teachers aim to share knowledge and skills about developing a Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS)-based learning model. The direct benefit of this community service activity is to increase the knowledge, skills, and experience of school-mobilizing teachers in developing HOTS-based learning models. This community service activity is conducted as training by providing materials and practices for developing HOTS-based learning models. The target audience for this community service activity was 30 teachers in Grobogan Regency. The methods used in this activity were lectures, question-and-answer sessions, discussions, and practice, as well as a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach that involved teachers in problem identification and training planning, enabling them to actively contribute to their own development and improve the quality of education. The results showed significant improvements, including increased teacher participation in discussion forums, from 40% to 80%, and that 60% of teachers were able to apply new teaching methods after the training. The evaluation included aspects of knowledge, skills, activeness, and attendance, reflecting the positive impact of the training. The impact of this activity includes a significant increase in teachers' knowledge and skills in developing HOTS-based learning models, which, in turn, can support improvements in learning quality in schools and sustainably enhance teacher professionalism.

Abstract

Improving the quality of Sharia higher education is a strategic necessity in the face of the increasingly complex dynamics of globalization and scientific transformation. This research aims to analyze how the implementation of field studies can serve as an instrument to enhance the academic and professional quality of the Master of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. In particular, this study examines the relevance of field experience, learning outcomes, and quality assurance systems implemented in the postgraduate environment. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The results showed that field studies nationally and internationally is able to strengthen three main dimensions of education quality: (1) academic competence, which is shown through the ability of students to integrate Islamic education theory with practice in the field; (2) social competence, through cross-cultural collaboration and institutions that enrich scientific perspectives; and (3) improvement of the internal quality assurance system, where the results of FS are used as reflective materials for the improvement of curriculum and learning methods.

Abstract

The life of the Prophet Muhammad SAW in Mecca, before and after being appointed as an Apostle, were the early stage that would determine the Prophet's da’wah journey. With the historical approach, through library research and authoritative literature sources, this paper tries to discuss the history of Islam in Mecca period, a period which is an important foundation for the process of spreading Islam in the world. For 13 years, the Prophet preached in Mecca, inviting people to worship and believe in Allah SWT. Initially, preaching was done secretly and was still limited to the Prophet's family and relatives, until a verse was revealed instructing the Prophet to preach openly. The Prophet and his companions faced various trials and challenges, some of which came from members of his own family. However, the Prophet remained steadfast, and his companions remained firm in their faith, a tangible result of the early period of preaching, which focused on instilling and strengthening aqidah.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital algorithms has significantly changed the way knowledge is produced, distributed, and legitimized in the digital era. This situation raises ethical and epistemological challenges, particularly in religious contexts, where the truth and authority of information have a strong moral dimension. This study aims to formulate an integration between the principle of Qur'anic tabayyun with the concept of algorithmic ethics to build a more critical, transparent, and responsible approach to the use of AI. This study uses a literature study approach by analyzing scientific articles obtained through the Publish or Perish and Elsevier databases, with a publication range of 2015-2026. The analysis process was carried out through the stages of identification, selection, and synthesis of research relevant to the focus of the study. The results show that the integration of the concept of Qur'anic tabayyun into the algorithmic ethics framework is relevant to ensure the process of verification, caution, and responsibility in the management of information generated by AI. This research is expected to provide a conceptual contribution to the development of a technology ethics framework based on Qur'anic values while enriching the discourse on the transformation of the authority of religious knowledge in the era of artificial intelligence.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of using the Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) on students' learning independence and conceptual understanding of evolution at the senior high school level. The research uses a quantitative approach with a weak experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population consists of Grade XII Science students at a public senior high school in Tangerang, Indonesia. A random sample of 70 students formed the experimental group. Data collection used non-test methods, such as questionnaires for learning autonomy and essay tests for conceptual understanding. The average learning independence score was 79.1, indicating high independence. The average concept understanding score was 57.9, categorized as sufficient. Data analysis for learning independence used the Paired-Samples Test, while concept understanding was analyzed with the nonparametric Wilcoxon test. Results showed the use of BLAST had a significant effect on improving students' learning independence and conceptual understanding, with a p-value of 0.001 0.05.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence (EQ) has emerged as a critical dimension of human functioning, often exerting a more substantial influence on personal and professional success than intellectual intelligence (IQ), as emphasized in the work of Daniel Goleman. EQ encompasses the ability to identify, regulate, and express one’s own emotions, as well as to perceive and respond appropriately to the emotions of others. This study explores the concept of emotional intelligence through the lens of Goleman's theoretical framework and investigates its correspondence with ethical and spiritual values found in the Qur’an. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach, the research focuses on three core components of EQ as outlined by Goleman, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills, and analyzes these constructs in relation to Qur’anic teachings. The findings reveal that the Qur’an embodies principles of emotional intelligence through narratives and moral exhortations, such as persistence in adversity (istiqamah), compassion toward others, emotional restraint, and respectful interpersonal communication. Prophetic stories and ethical injunctions provide illustrative models of emotionally intelligent behavior aligned with spiritual development. This study demonstrates that integrating modern psychological theories with Qur’anic values offers a rich and culturally grounded framework for character education and personal growth. It also underscores the potential of Islamic teachings to contribute meaningfully to contemporary discourses on emotional intelligence and moral development.
