Abstract

This study explores and identifies the precise measurement of perceived sacredness of Indonesian tourist’s perceived sacredness on their pilgrimage journey. Indonesia is a unique country which is having more than five major religions adopted by its population, thus we suggested they have a different perception of sacredness on spiritual destination. The methodology used in this study are using culture-based construct design to identify the items and indicators that could measure the Indonesian tourist’s perceived sacredness. Thirteen items were identified, but only eight items were accepted as a valid and reliable measurement of the Indonesian tourist’s perceived sacredness. Three indicators could be built from the items, they are (1) Spiritual Attractiveness, (2) Historic Spiritual Value, and (3) Spiritual Activities. The finding(s) on this research could be used for future research, especially to examining the relationship between perceived sacredness toward the Indonesian tourist’s behavior.

Abstract

The development of the digital economy has created a complex business ecosystem, demanding a rapid response from various parties, including accounting management. In this era, digital transformation is not just about adopting new technologies, but also a paradigm shift in financial information management. Technologies such as cloud accounting, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence are becoming an urgent need to ensure companies remain competitive. However, the implementation of these technologies faces challenges such as data security, workforce readiness, and high investment costs. In addition, digital transformation requires the ability to transform financial data into strategic insights, where accounting plays a role as a partner that can add value through predictive analysis and data-driven decision-making. This shift also requires accounting management to maintain a balance between information transparency and personal data security. Using a descriptive-analytical qualitative method, this study explores how companies adopt digital technology in accounting management and its impact on strategic decision-making. The results show that although digital transformation presents great opportunities, challenges such as data security, workforce training, and harmonization of accounting standards with technological developments must be managed well to create an efficient and sustainable accounting system in the digital era.

Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of neoliberal policies on social welfare in developing countries, focusing on the implementation of free market principles, privatization, deregulation, and a reduced role of the state in the economy. While these policies aim to improve economic efficiency and growth, this research finds that neoliberal implementation in developing countries often exacerbates social inequality and reduces the poor's access to basic services such as health, education and social protection. The research identifies negative impacts such as public sector privatization that increases costs for low-income earners, deregulation that makes workers more vulnerable to exploitation, and social budget cuts that reduce the quality of services for marginalized groups. Although some countries experienced economic growth as a result of these policies, the unequal distribution of economic benefits led to increased social inequality. This article suggests the need for more inclusive and sustainable economic policies that can mitigate the negative impacts of neoliberalism, as well as strengthen social security and access to basic services in developing countries.

Abstract

The rapid proliferation of the coffee shop industry, coupled with the high mobility and exploratory nature of Generation Z students, presents a critical challenge for Kopitiam businesses in maintaining customer retention. Grounded in Service-Dominant Logic (SDL), this study aims to analyze the influence of personalized experience and food and beverage quality on customer loyalty, with brand trust serving as a mediating variable. This explanatory quantitative research collected data through a purposive sampling technique from 150 Generation Z university students in Malang City who had visited a Kopitiam at least twice within the last six months. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The findings reveal a distinct dichotomy where personalized experience has a significant direct effect on enhancing customer loyalty, whereas food and beverage quality does not directly influence loyalty but is fully mediated by brand trust. This indicates that in a saturated market, product quality functions merely as a hygiene factor, while brand trust acts as the pivotal psychological axis for Generation Z customer commitment. The novelty of this study lies in positioning brand trust as a bridge between functional product value and relational experience within the Kopitiam cultural ecosystem. These findings imply that Kopitiam operators must shift their focus from mere menu innovation to "relationship engineering," prioritizing organic personal interaction and consistent operational standards to ensure long-term loyalty.

Abstract

The enhancement of students’ sustainability competencies remains a critical challenge in higher education. While project-based learning approaches have been effective in improving students’ problem-solving and collaboration abilities, their capacity to address complex environmental and sustainability issues is still limited. To overcome these limitations, this study developed and validated a Project-Based Environmental Education (PjBEE) model that integrates project-based learning with sustainability-oriented education. Employing a Research and Development (R&D), this study aimed to determine the model’s validity, practicality, and effectiveness in enhancing students’ sustainability competencies. The PjBEE model was implemented in environmental education courses and structured around six stages: Inquiring, Collaborating, Decision Making, Digital Action Planning, Creating Artifacts, and Action. Research instruments included expert validation sheets, observation sheets, student response questionnaires, and sustainability competency tests. The validation results confirmed that the PjBEE model met the criteria of high validity, feasibility, and practicality. Implementation findings demonstrated positive student engagement and significant improvement in sustainability competencies particularly in systems thinking, collaboration, strategic planning, and problem-solving. Therefore, the PjBEE model can serve as a pedagogically sound and empirically supported framework for integrating sustainability education into higher education curricula, particularly in biology teacher education programs.

Abstract

Advances in technology and information have compelled the education sector to undergo continuous transformation. These developments present new challenges, as educational systems are required to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to respond to an increasingly dynamic world. Such competencies are strongly influenced by students’ learning motivation; however, empirical evidence indicates that students’ learning motivation remains relatively low. The present study seeks to examine the effectiveness of an augmented reality–assisted problem-based learning model integrated with local potential in enhancing students’ learning motivation. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was employed. Data on learning motivation were collected using the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire. The results of the ANCOVA analysis revealed a significant effect on students’ learning motivation (p < 0.05), indicating that the local potential–based AR-PBL model was effective in improving learning motivation. The Partial Eta Squared value of 0.605 indicates a large effect size, accounting for approximately 60% of the variance. Furthermore, the corrected mean score of learning motivation in the experimental group (87.93) was higher than that of the control group (80.64). These findings demonstrate that the local potential–based AR-PBL model is more effective in enhancing students’ learning motivation than the PBL model alone.

Abstract

Country-of-Origin Image (COI) has been recognized as a possible factor to influence the image of product especially toward international products. COI occurred due to the consumer's behavior which uses the nation image on some international products to consider the quality before they build a bearing on the products. The better the country's image in some products, the greater influence and impact will be given to their products image. Many previous studies have been done on COI toward foreign products, focused on the intention behavior. The intention behavior in this study is including a purchase intention or intention to try a product. However, research about its impact in the term of tourism is limited. Moreover, the use of international food as an object is limited as well. This study addressed an insight of tourism impact about Indonesian intention to visit Japan which influenced by image of Japanese food, which given by country's image (Japan). The results showed that the image of Japanese food perceived after they consumed it, significantly influence an intention to visit Japan. Therefore, marketing and promotions of a countries as one entity should focus to use their traditional food (international product for other people from other countries) to promote their country as tourism destination. Keywords: Country of Origin Image (COI), Intention to Visit a Country, International food.
