Abstract

The Data Pokok Pendidikan (DAPODIK) system serves as the primary foundation for educational data management and policy decision-making in Indonesia. However, persistent institutional challenges continue to affect the accuracy and reliability of the data. This research aims to identify and analyze the institutional obstacles that hinder the effective implementation of DAPODIK. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the study explores three key dimensions: infrastructure, institutional structure, and human resources. The findings reveal that (1) inadequate internet connectivity and unstable electricity disrupt data entry and synchronization; (2) weak policy integration, limited budgets, and inconsistent leadership commitment impede effective data governance; and (3) insufficient training for school operators reduces technical competence, thereby compromising data validity. These findings highlight the need for a comprehensive reform strategy that strengthens digital infrastructure, enhances institutional governance, and develops human resource capacity to ensure reliable education data management.

Abstract

This study examines how Generative AI tools, specifically ChatGPT and Gemini, can enhance English for Specific Purposes (ESP) learning and education. Drawing on the UTAUT2 model of technology acceptance and recent discussions on AI-mediated learning, we examine the roles of baseline ability, perceived usefulness, and satisfaction as mediating factors in ESP classrooms. Data were collected from 50 vocational students across five departments using pre- and post-tests, AI usage logs, and Likert-scale surveys. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, paired t-tests, ANOVA with Tukey adjustment, correlation, reliability tests, and predictive modeling (OLS and LASSO) in SAS Studio. Results show a mean learning gain of 24.42 points, with Nursing and IT students benefiting most. AI usage hours strongly correlate with post-test scores but not directly with learning gain, suggesting that perceived usefulness and satisfaction (both rated 4.4/5 with ? = 1.00) mediate the outcomes. Baseline competence remains the strongest predictor, highlighting persistent disparities in skill distribution across vocational fields. These findings suggest that the effective integration of Generative AI in ESP requires scaffolding and domain-specific alignment, rather than simple exposure. The study offers a novel framework for AI-supported ESP instruction, providing practical guidance for educators and policymakers in Indonesia and similar contexts.

Abstract

Civic Education (PKn) plays an important role in shaping students' character, especially in instilling democratic values and tolerance from an early age. At the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) and Elementary School (SD) levels, PKn teaching aims to equip students with an understanding of the rights and obligations of citizens and the importance of respecting differences. This study aims to analyze how civic education can instill democratic values and tolerance in MI/SD students. The method used is library research, which examines various literature related to the implementation of civic education. The results of the study indicate that PKn learning can be implemented well through a discussion-based approach, group work, and simulation of democratic life, which helps students to understand these principles directly. However, the implementation of this education faces several challenges, such as limited supporting facilities and unequal understanding among educators.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of a Gamified Project-Based Learning (PjBL) strategy in enhancing students’ collaboration and creativity skills at SMP Al-Islam Krian Sidoarjo. Although PjBL has been widely implemented to foster 21st-century competencies, challenges remain in sustaining student motivation and engagement during project activities. Gamification through point systems, badges, levels, rewards, and leaderboards offers a potential solution by integrating game elements that stimulate student participation and intrinsic motivation. This study employed a mixed-methods approach with a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design. A total of 35 respondents were divided into two groups: an experimental group receiving gamified PjBL and a control group receiving conventional PjBL. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test instruments (using a Likert scale of 1–5), observation sheets, student interviews, and rubric-based project assessments. The findings demonstrate a significant increase in collaboration and creativity among students in the experimental group. Quantitative results reveal large effect sizes for both collaboration (d = 1.42) and creativity (d = 1.57), with p 0.001. In contrast, the control group showed only marginal improvements. Qualitative evidence from observations and interviews further indicates heightened engagement, stronger team communication, and increased idea generation among students exposed to gamified PjBL. The study contributes theoretically by enriching the discourse on the integration of gamification in PjBL environments and practically by offering empirical insights for secondary schools seeking to develop more interactive, student-centered pedagogical strategies. The findings underscore the potential of gamified PjBL as a transformative instructional model for cultivating essential 21st-century skills in Indonesian middle schools.

Abstract

Red physic nut leaves (Jatropha gossypifolia L.) and butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea L.) are medicinal plants known to contain various secondary metabolites with potential applications in the pharmaceutical field. Secondary metabolites such play an important role as natural bioactive compounds. This study aimed to determine the presence of secondary metabolite compounds in the extracts of red physic nut leaves and butterfly pea flowers through phytochemical screening tests. This research was an experimental laboratory study. Samples of red physic nut leaves and butterfly pea flowers were dried, powdered, and extracted using the maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent for 3 × 24 hours with periodic stirring. The filtrate obtained from maceration was filtered and evaporated to obtain a thick extract. The extracts were then qualitatively analyzed using phytochemical screening methods to detect alkaloids (Mayer, Wagner, and Dragendorff reagents), flavonoids (Shinoda test), saponins (foam test), tannins (FeCl₃ test), as well as steroids and terpenoids (Liebermann–Burchard test). The phytochemical screening results showed that the extracts of red physic nut leaves and butterfly pea flowers were positive for several groups of secondary metabolites. Both extracts were identified to contain flavonoids, saponins, and tannins, while alkaloids, steroids, and terpenoids showed varying results in each extract. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that red physic nut leaves and butterfly pea flowers have the potential to serve as sources of natural bioactive compounds for further natural product–based research.

Abstract

The research problem in this study is that the development of Islamic Education teachers has not yet been optimal in integrating technology, resulting in low learning effectiveness and limited digital competence. The purpose of this study is to analyze teacher development and the influence of technology on the effectiveness of Islamic Education learning, and to formulate an effective development model. The research used an exploratory sequential design: a qualitative case study with 15 teachers (interviews, observations, and documentation), followed by a quantitative correlational stage with 50 students (Likert-scale questionnaires analyzed with SPSS). The results show that technology-based teacher development has a significant effect on the effectiveness of Islamic Education learning. Qualitatively, teachers experienced improvements in lesson planning, the use of varied teaching methods, and the utilization of digital media such as videos, applications, and online learning platforms, making learning more interactive, engaging, and student-centered. Quantitatively, instructional development (X1) contributed 47.4%, technology-based value-added development (X2) contributed 57.4%, and simultaneously, both contributed 59.6% to learning outcomes. The data were tested for normality and found to be valid and reliable. The study concludes that technology-based teacher development significantly and measurably improves the effectiveness of Islamic Education instruction. The significance of this research lies in producing a technology-based teacher development model as a foundation for policy development and modern Islamic education training.
