Abstract

This research is aimed at fostering students’ reflective efforts by providing self- and peer-assessment approaches during the process of learning how to write creative writing about Indonesian narrative stories. The implementation of this instructional method promotes students' writing proficiency, critical thinking abilities, and autonomy. The objective of this research is to introduce, explore the advantages of, and evaluate students' reactions to self-and peer assessment in a writing course. A case study design was employed, focusing on tenth-grade EFL students in SMAN 8 Denpasar. They were chosen by purposive random sampling. The research utilized various methods such as open-ended questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The analysis of the data reveals the positive outcomes associated with peer- and self-assessment. The findings suggest that English teachers should employ this instructional approach to enable students to fully engage in the writing process and enhance their writing skills.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, particularly generative tools like ChatGPT, has significantly reshaped how language learning is approached in higher education. However, while much has been said about the potential benefits of AI, there remains a lack of empirical research on students’ actual experiences. This study investigates the user experience (UX) of 110 English Language Education (ELE) students at Universitas in Bali using ChatGPT to support their English learning. The User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) was employed to measure six key dimensions: Attractiveness, Perspicuity, Efficiency, Dependability, Stimulation, and Novelty. The results indicate that students perceived ChatGPT positively across all dimensions, especially in terms of ease of use, emotional engagement, and learning efficiency. Validity and reliability tests confirmed the robustness of the instrument. The findings highlight ChatGPT’s potential not only as a functional educational tool but also as a motivational and user-friendly platform. However, the study also underscores the need for digital literacy and ethical guidance to ensure responsible use. This research contributes to a more nuanced understanding of AI in language education and provides insights for educators and policymakers aiming to integrate AI meaningfully into curriculum design.

Abstract

This research aimed to explore the development process and evaluate the quality of English supplementary materials integrated with global culture. This study followed a developmental research approach guided by Branch (2009), which consists of five key stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The participants of this study consisted of 25 fifth-grade students and an English teacher. A total of 25 students and one teacher were purposefully selected using a purposive sampling technique. To gather comprehensive data, the study employed a combination of content analysis, interviews, and surveys. The development of the English supplementary materials integrated with global culture for fifth-grade students followed a multi-step process from designing a blueprint outlining topics, learning objectives, and activities that combined English skills with global knowledge, cultural behaviors, and artifacts. The materials were created using Canva to produce a colorful, engaging layout with visual elements and a friendly character named Squirrel as a guide. The content was adapted from the fifth-grade primary English textbook, My Next Words, and enriched with global cultural elements. The developed English supplementary materials integrated with global culture were effectively implemented in the classroom and received positive feedback from students, teachers, and experts. The user and expert judgments further confirmed the quality of the materials, with an average rating of 4.36, classifying them as “good” in terms of relevance, design, and global culture integration. These results indicate that the developed supplementary materials are effective, engaging, and beneficial in supporting students’ English learning and cultural awareness in the classroom setting

Abstract

The rapid growth of AI-based tools in education, particularly the increasing use of ChatGPT, has created an urgent need to understand how students perceive and engage with this technology to ensure its effective integration into English language learning. This research explores university students’ acceptance and enjoyment of using ChatGPT in English language learning among English Education students at Ganesha University of Education. The study employed a sequential explanatory mixed-methods approach. Quantitative data were collected through a survey consisting of 281 students, while qualitative data were collected from semi-structured interviews with 9 students selected through purposive sampling to capture more in-depth perspectives from active ChatGPT users. In the quantitative phase, students’ acceptance levels were examined using the modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) which included Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Behavioral Intention, and Perceived Enjoyment. The results showed that students’ acceptance was categorized as high level, with an average score of 75.1, indicating that students generally accept ChatGPT as part of their English language learning. Qualitative results further revealed the psychological factors, particularly enjoyment, that significantly influenced students’ acceptance of ChatGPT. The students’ enjoyment was shaped by individual factors, learning environments, and the influence of lecturers. Overall, the findings highlight that students’ acceptance and enjoyment of ChatGPT are intertwined. Students’ willingness to integrate ChatGPT is also reinforced by positive and enjoyable learning experiences. These results suggest educators and institutions should design AI-assisted learning environments that are engaging, interactive and emotionally supportive. Creating such environments can enhance students’ technology adoption.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education, particularly post-COVID-19, has accelerated a major shift towards online learning. While it offers flexibility, this transition has also had significant impacts on students' mental health, including stress, anxiety, and digital burnout due to intense virtual interactions. This study aims to examine the relationship between cyber pedagogy, digital burnout, and students' mental health in the context of online learning. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, this research collected and analyzed 11 articles published between 2015 and 2025 through the Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases. The analysis process was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines, focusing on the relationship between cyber pedagogy and its impact on students' mental health. The results show that digital burnout and mental health disorders are significant challenges often overlooked in digital learning design. Cyber pedagogy, with proper management, can help reduce the psychological gap between students and the learning environment, while also improving students' well-being. This study emphasizes the importance of a more responsive and humanistic pedagogical approach in designing digital learning, which not only focuses on technical aspects but also supports students' mental health sustainably.

Abstract

Introduction: Equitable and high-quality health education serves as a crucial foundation for ensuring fair healthcare services in Indonesia. Faced with geographic challenges and significant disparities in educational infrastructure, the utilization of technologies such as e-learning and tele-education emerges as a strategic alternative to expand access to health education, particularly in 3T regions (frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped areas). This article analyzes the benefits, challenges, and implementation strategies of these two approaches in the context of higher health education in Indonesia. E-learning offers flexibility in time and space, cost efficiency, and access to global learning resources. Meanwhile, tele-education facilitates continuous training and real-time cross-regional collaboration. However, barriers such as limited digital infrastructure, low technological literacy, and underdeveloped regulations remain significant challenges. This article proposes several strategic recommendations, including infrastructure enhancement, human resource training, regulatory strengthening, and the development of a national tele-education platform. Through a holistic and collaborative approach, e-learning and tele-education can serve as key catalysts in realizing inclusive, equitable, and sustainable health education in Indonesia.
