Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between poverty and environmental damage in Indonesia. This study consists time series data covering the period from 2000 to 2023, and utilized the vector error correction model. The short-run findings reveal that economic inequality exacerbates CO2 emissions, as affluent groups exploit resources and disadvantaged community resort to unsustainable practices. This is compounded by political and economic power weakening environmental regulations. Conversely, CO2 emissions exacerbate poverty, especially in rural areas reliant on natural resources, making them vulnerable to environmental shocks. A strong positive correlation exists between ecological footprint per capita and CO2 emissions, driven by resource consumption and fossil fuel reliance, though renewable energy adoption shows promise in mitigating emissions. In the long run, our findings align with the Environmental Kuznets Curve theory, suggesting that economic growth, supported by clean energy and sound environmental policies, ultimately leads to reduced environmental impact. These findings underscore the critical need for balanced strategies that simultaneously address poverty alleviation and promote ecological sustainability through inclusive policies and a transition to renewable energy.

Abstract

Natural product-based noise-absorbing composite can be an alternative to replace synthetic fiber because of its advantages of high strength, toughness, low price, and abundance to reduce noise. The materials used were pineapple leaf fibers with paper waste. This research aims to study the advantage of natural products to reduce noise by analyzing the coefficient of sound absorption and impact strength to evaluate the absorbing composite. The composites were tested with the Charpy method with ISO 11654 standard and ASTM E23 for sound absorption and impact strength. Sound absorption was carried out using an impedance tube at a frequency range of 250 – 3000 Hz. The volume fraction of pineapple leaf fibers, paper waste, and resin epoxy concentrations were 20% : 30% : 50%, 25% : 25% : 50%, and 30% : 20% : 50%. The thickness for the sound absorption coefficient was 2 cm and 3 cm, while the thickness of the impact strength was 0.5 cm. The highest sound absorption coefficient of pineapple leaf fibers composite for 30% : 20% : 50% volume fraction was 0.788 for sample 2 cm. The highest impact strength for 20% : 30% : 50% volume fraction of the thickness of 0.5 cm was 3.527 J/mm2. The results of the sound absorption coefficient will increase if used more pineapple leaf fibers but it will decrease the impact strength. Based on this research, the pineapple leaf fibers will improve the quality of the composite that can be used as a sound-absorbing material as well. These materials possess the promising potential to decrease waste and are used in industries for a low cost.

Abstract

The development of solid-state electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and structural stability is crucial for advancing secondary battery technologies. Solid electrolytes play a critical role in facilitating ion transfer between electrodes, directly impacting battery efficiency. Solid electrolyte polymer membranes can be manufactured for use in secondary batteries as electrical energy storage devices. In batteries, solid electrolytes act as a medium for ion transfer. The polymer membrane was modified by incorporating Zinc Oxide (ZnO) into the chitosan/LiOH polymer membrane using the solution casting method. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) tests were conducted. The FTIR analysis of the polymer membrane revealed the presence of functional groups such as OH stretching, -NH stretching, -NH bending, -CO stretching, -CH stretching, and -ZnO stretching. The EIS results demonstrated that the ionic conductivity of the 3% chitosan/LiOH/ZnO membrane was higher at 1.4821 x 10-6 S/cm compared to the 2% chitosan/LiOH/ZnO membrane at 3.6893 x 10-7 S/cm. This study suggests that chitosan/LiOH membranes doped with Zinc Oxide (ZnO) are a promising option for solid electrolyte membranes in secondary batteries

Abstract

Divorce is widely viewed as a means of resolving marital conflict; however, it has the potential to negatively affect adolescents. For adolescents, parental divorce is one of the most stressful life events, often associated with long-term emotional and behavioral problems. As a result of their parents' divorce, adolescents feel depressed and struggle to cope with lifes challenges into adulthood. Forgiveness is proven to mitigate the negative impact of parental divorce, enabling adolescents to adapt and bounce back and preparing them to face future challenges both physically and psychologically. This research aims to determine the relationship between forgiveness and resilience in 104 adolescent survivors of parental divorce in Aceh, using quota sampling and participated in completing the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) and Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivations (TRIM-18). The data analysis shows a significance value (p) =0.001 and a correlation coefficient (r) = -0.631, indicates significant positive correlation between forgiveness and resilience. This implies that the higher the level of forgiveness, the higher the level of resilience, and conversely, the lower the level of forgiveness, the lower the level of resilience. This research found that these adolescent have high levels of both forgiveness and resilience.
