Abstract

Background: This research was motivated by the different approaches taken in Marjan’s advertisement for Ramadan 2021 compared to previous years. Marjan is known for always showcasing local Indonesian culture explicitly in its advertisements so that the culture presented is identical to the original. In 2021, Marjan presented Reog Ponorogo with a superhero fantasy story, so Reog Ponorogo was implicitly displayed in the advertisement. Purpose: This research aims to determine the representation of the Reog Ponorogo character construction in Marjan’s Ramadan 2021 advertisement. Methods: This research uses a qualitative method with Peirce’s triadic semiotic analytic approach. Results: The representation of Reog Ponorogo construction characters in the Marjan advertisement for Ramadan 2021 was evident in the signs that represent Reog Ponorogo. Marjan’s advertisement constructs the concept of fusing traditional culture with modern popular culture. Conclusions: The resulting fusion creates an advertisement that tells a superhero fantasy story but still carries the identity of Reog Ponorogo. The media construction is built to keep Marjan’s advertisement relevant to the product’s target market, with a message of unity and heroism that differs from its traditional counterpart. Implication: The presentation of traditional culture in media should be done with the utmost care so as not to conflict with the culture’s traditional origin. Consumers are expected to start by getting to know the local culture inherent in themselves so that when this culture is presented in media, consumers can evaluate the media’s presentation of culture in the created content.

Abstract

Abstract

Water quality is a major factor in the survival of white snapper. In the process of successfully producing white snapper, it is necessary to monitor the water quality in the spawning tank so that it can determine the optimal water quality and its effect on the hatching power of snapper eggs. The purpose of this study was to see the correlation of water quality parameters with egg hatching, and to determine the relationship between length and weight in White Snapper. The analysis method used is the parametric statistical method with the analysis tool used, namely the SPSS statistical application 26. The analysis used is a simple linear regression test, and a correlation test between water quality and egg hatching power. The results of the study showed that the growth pattern was more dominant in increasing the length of white snapper, while the results of the Pearson correlation test showed that temperature and salinity suitability greatly influenced the number of white snapper eggs that hatched.

Abstract

The low competency of teachers in Indonesia indicates the need to improve teacher quality through self-renewal led by principals; however, the current fulfillment of teacher needs still prioritizes quantity over quality, and many teachers face obstacles in achieving self-renewal. This study describes the principal's learning supervision strategy in fostering teacher self-renewal capacity. This research method uses qualitative data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation, involving 7 informants: the principal, 4 teachers, and 1 staff member at Public Elementary School (SDN) 035 Soka, Bandung City Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis in this study used the Miles & Huberman model and the data processing employed Nvivo 14 application. The results of this study indicate that the principal implements collaborative strategies in every stage of learning supervision to foster teacher self-renewal capacity. Teachers at SDN 035 Soka have teacher self-renewal capacity, which can be seen from their ability to continue learning and adapting to educational developments by improving their performance through exploitation, exploration, absorption, integration, and leadership. This research provides important implications for the development of learning supervision strategies and the enhancement of teachers' self-renewal capacity. These findings can serve as a reference for school principals to support teachers' professional development and improve the quality of teaching in schools.

Abstract

The debate surrounding the 2024 General Election in the virtual space, such as social media, has led netizens to exchange hate speech and heavy criticism regarding their respective support. Two groups have emerged: government supporters highlighting the successes of President Joko Widodo and those shifting their support to Anies Baswedan after Prabowo joined the government. Over time, this phenomenon has led to the proliferation of hate speech based on identities such as religion, ethnicity, and fanatical groups, potentially dividing public opinion. This study aims to explain the emergence of hate speech and the forms of hate speech based on identity politics leading up to the 2024 General Election. This study employs virtual ethnographic analysis (Virtual Ethnography) to observe tweets or statuses on selected accounts and the comments that arise from those tweets. The objects of analysis are the trends of words and phrases and the content within observed sentences or paragraphs. The research findings have been presented in the form of tabulation and categorization. The results show that comments and statuses containing hate speech always create bidirectional and multi-directional communication models among users. Hate speech often uses phrases and keywords that lead to insults, malicious accusations, curses, and accusing the opposing party of being stupid and evil. Based on this study, social media users must realize that the presidential campaign is a time to have different choices but remain aware of the same nation. Users need to develop an awareness of social media ethics. Enforcing rules against those who spread hate speech is key for every actor involved.

Abstract

Abstract: One crucial aspect of digital leadership is the professional development of teachers through Professional Learning Community (PLC). However, literature exploring the relationship between digital leadership and PLC remains limited. This study aims to analyze research trends and developments in digital leadership and its implications for teachers' professional development using bibliometric analysis. Literature data were collected from the Scopus database for the period 2020–2024 using a Boolean Search query with keywords related to digital leadership and PLC. After filtering, 3,487 articles from various countries were selected. The analysis was conducted using VOSviewer software to identify research patterns and term network mapping. The visualization results reveal four major clusters in digital leadership research: (1) school leadership and teacher professional development, (2) experimental research and mental health in education, (3) community-based learning and qualitative research, and (4) digital transformation and transformational leadership. These findings indicate that digital leadership not only supports teacher professional development but also relates to mental well-being, innovation in community-based learning, and organizational adaptation to digital transformation. This study contributes by identifying research gaps in digital leadership and PLC and providing future research directions to explore technology-driven leadership strategies to enhance teacher professional development. Abstract
