Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy has become a major focus in improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia. This policy analysis aims to explore the implementation of MBKM, the challenges faced, and its impact on students and higher education institutions. A qualitative approach collected data through a literature review and analysis of related policy documents. The analysis results indicate that MBKM provides significant benefits in expanding students' learning opportunities, enhancing graduates' competencies, and fostering creativity and independence. However, the implementation of MBKM also faces several challenges, such as expanding communication, improving facilities, and adapting policies at the institutional level. Nevertheless, MBKM is expected to bring positive changes to the higher education landscape in Indonesia by empowering students with a more active and autonomous role in their learning. Further research is needed to better understand the effectiveness and efficiency of MBKM implementation in Indonesia's higher education context.

Abstract

This study aims to explore educational values in the Quran, Quranic learning methods, and their relevance to modern learning theories. Using a descriptive qualitative approach based on literature review, this article analyzes Quranic verses related to educational concepts, such as Surah Al-Baqarah, Surah Ali Imran, Surah Yusuf, Surah An-Nahl, and Surah Al-Mulk, as well as interpretations by scholars such as M. Quraish Shihab, Jalaluddin Al-Mahalli, and Ibn Kathir. The results show that the Quran offers a holistic learning method that includes parables, stories, targhīb-tarhīb, dialogue, role models, practical exercises, and advice. These methods align with modern learning theories, such as Behaviorism, Constructivism, and Experiential Learning. Another finding of this study is that the integration of technology in Islamic education can be achieved by considering Quranic values, such as lite racy, information validation, trustworthiness, and digital etiquette. Quranic education can address the challenges of the modern era by integrating intellectual, spiritual, moral, and social dimensions.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the needs for developing a computational thinking-based computer application textbook at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Palopo, Indonesia. This research constitutes the analysis phase of a Research and Development study employing the ADDIE model. Data were collected through questionnaires (N=98 pre-service teachers), semi-structured interviews with two lecturers, curriculum document analysis (CPL, CPMK, RPS), and resource observation. Descriptive statistics and Miles-Huberman thematic analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings reveal three multidimensional gaps: (1) Applicative gap: 73.5% of students mastered basic functions, but 56.1% struggled to apply them for creating learning media; (2) Cognitive gap: 83.7% required systematic thinking guidance (computational thinking) that has not been explicitly integrated into learning objectives; (3) Contextual gap: 87.8% demanded materials relevant to teaching profession tasks. Learner profile analysis showed high motivation (mean 4.19/5) but varied practical experience (mean 3.34/5). Resource analysis confirmed the availability of laboratories and competent lecturers, yet with quantitative limitations in technology infrastructure. The conclusion confirms that multidimensional gaps necessitate the development of an integrated, contextual, and problem-solving-oriented computational thinking-based textbook. This needs analysis provides a foundational rationale for instructional design decisions in subsequent development phases.

Abstract

Learning and instruction are two main concepts in the field of education that are interconnected yet have different characteristics. This article aims to analyze the influence of behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism theories on instructional design, explain the difference between learning as an individual activity and instruction as a social interaction from the perspective of Islamic education, and examine the role of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in the effectiveness of project-based learning. This study uses a library research approach by analyzing various relevant scientific sources. The study results show that behaviorism emphasizes changes in behavior through stimulus and response, cognitivism focuses on mental processes in learning, while constructivism places learners as active subjects in constructing knowledge. In Islamic education, learning is seen as an individual activity that has the value of worship, whereas teaching is a social process that is filled with the values of exemplary conduct and educational interaction. In addition, intrinsic motivation has been proven to be more dominant in enhancing the effectiveness of project-based learning compared to extrinsic motivation. Therefore, the integration of modern learning theories with the values of Islamic education becomes important to create learning that is meaningful, humanistic, and relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) fatwas on Islamic education management in Indonesia, particularly in aligning sharia principles with contemporary educational practices. The purpose of this research is to explore the role of MUI fatwas in policy formation, curriculum adjustment, and governance frameworks to address the challenges posed by globalization and digitalization in Islamic education. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis of policies implemented in various Islamic education institutions in Indonesia. The study focused on three key fatwas discussed in Ijtima Ulama forums: the third in 2009, the sixth in 2018, and the seventh in 2021. The findings reveal that MUI fatwas contribute significantly to three areas: the establishment of sharia-compliant educational policies, the adaptation of curricula to contemporary needs, and the promotion of equitable governance in Islamic education institutions. However, challenges such as varying interpretations and resistance from stakeholders hinder effective implementation. This research is original in its comprehensive analysis of the direct and indirect impacts of MUI fatwas on Islamic education management, providing new insights into the intersection of sharia principles and modern educational demands. The study has significant implications for policymakers, educators, and religious scholars. It highlights the need for harmonization between sharia-based fatwas and modern management practices to ensure the sustainability and relevance of Islamic education in Indonesia's evolving sociocultural landscape.

Abstract

This study serves as an effort to explore the implementation of the Internal Quality Standards at the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Law, Universitas Islam Ahmad Dahlan, Sinjai Regency. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, which were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman method. The findings indicate that the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) has been running effectively, with an average quality achievement exceeding 80%. This success is reflected in the attainment of several key indicators, such as Foreign Language Development, Learning Content, and Research Assessment, which reached 100%. However, some aspects still require improvement, particularly in research quality and alumni management, which have not yet met optimal standards. The active involvement of various stakeholders, including lecturers, students, and alumni, plays a crucial role in the success of this system. To further enhance educational quality, it is recommended to strengthen research support, optimize academic facilities, and reinforce stakeholder engagement to establish a more sustainable quality assurance system.

Abstract

Reading interest is a crucial factor in improving the quality of human resources. However, literacy rates in Indonesia remain low, particularly in remote areas. One innovation to address the access gap is mobile library services. This study evaluated the Sapa Mobile Library in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi, focusing on operational conditions, student reading interest developments from 2023 to 2025, and optimization strategies. Using descriptive qualitative methods, the results revealed challenges such as limited fleet, irrelevant collections, inconsistent schedules, and limited outreach to Islamic schools (madrasah). Student reading interest increased at the start of the program but declined due to inconsistent service delivery and a lack of family support. Recommended strategies include fleet rejuvenation, curriculum and culturally-based collection updates, librarian training, expanded outreach, and service digitization. This study proposes a relevant and sustainable inclusive literacy model.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze decentralization policies in Indonesia’s national education system and to identify their impact on the implementation of education. The method employed in this study is library research. Data were collected by reviewing and examining various relevant sources, particularly journal articles related to the topic. The data analysis was conducted descriptively. The findings indicate that the decentralization policy, established through Law No. 22 of 1999 and later refined by Law No. 32 of 2004, marked a shift in education management from a centralized to a decentralized model, with the expectation of improving effectiveness, efficiency, and relevance to local needs. The policy has brought positive outcomes, such as increased regional participation, greater management efficiency, school autonomy, and stronger community involvement in decision-making. However, several challenges remain, including disparities in education quality between regions, limited infrastructure, weak managerial capacity, and unequal budget distribution. Decentralization in the national education system cannot be regarded as an instant solution for educational equity; rather, it must be accompanied by efforts to strengthen local government capacity, establish effective collaboration with the central government, and ensure proper oversight mechanisms. This article highlights the necessity of a collaborative strategy among the central government, local authorities, and educational institutions to achieve sustainable equity in access and improvements in education quality.

Abstract

Understanding learner characteristics is a crucial foundation for implementing effective and equitable education. Each learner possesses unique differences in potential, learning styles, interests, and socio-cultural backgrounds that influence learning processes and outcomes. This article aims to analyze a characteristic-based approach to developing three major educational aspects: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through library research, the study synthesizes relevant literature on learner development. The results indicate that instructional approaches considering learner characteristics enhance learning effectiveness and holistic personal growth. The cognitive aspect relates to thinking and reasoning abilities; the affective aspect involves attitudes, values, and motivation; while the psychomotor aspect pertains to physical and motor coordination skills. These three domains should be developed harmoniously by considering learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) and individual differences such as talents, interests, and multiple intelligences. The findings imply that teachers and curriculum developers should adapt learning strategies and content to accommodate diverse learner characteristics, particularly in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, to promote inclusive and meaningful learning experiences.
