Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a global issue that is a priority in both Indonesia and Malaysia. Since being designated by WHO at 1993 as a global public health threat, Tuberculosis (TB) has become one of the top 10 leading causes of death worldwide. Recently, the number of Tuberculosis (TB) patients in Indonesia has increased, especially paediatric TB cases. In addition, Tuberculosis (TB) cases also increased in Malaysia. For the West Sumatra region, the highest number of TB patients is in Padang City. Since Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease that can affect anyone including children, the school environment as one of the places where children gather and interact has the opportunity to be a place for the spread of TB cases as well as having an important role in preventing TB transmission. However, in reality, the role of schools in early prevention efforts related to Tuberculosis (TB) disease in children, especially elementary school students, is still not optimal. In line with this, Tuberculosis (TB) disease is closely related to the human respiratory system which is one of the topics discussed in the human anatomy and physiology course in the MBKM activity between the Department of Biology FMIPA UNP and the Department of Biology UPSI. Therefore, it is necessary to make preventive efforts in the form of Tuberculosis prevention education. The results of community service are that several stages of community service activities have been carried out regarding Tuberculosis (TB) prevention education for elementary school students, namely the students involved are enthusiastic about the activities held, then pre-service biology teacher are also actively engaged in preparing and carrying out this activity and students' knowledge related to general knowledge, symptoms, their relationship with the respiratory system and prevention efforts are classified as good.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a condition characterized by increased level of cholesterol in the blood exceeding the normal threshold. Gambir (Uncari gambir Roxb.) contains chemical compounds, namely flavonoid, specifically catechin. Catechin in gambir has the potential to increase fat metabolism therefore it has the potential to reduce cholesterol level in the body of mice. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of gambir catechin on cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic mice. The study is an experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two control groups and three treatment groups those are K negative was not given treatment, K positive was induced by simvastatin after induction of a high-fat diet, P1, P2 and P3 were induced by catechin with different concentrations of 50%, 80% and 90% after being induced by a high-fat diet. Cholesterol level was checked with Easy touch GCU. Data was analyzed by One Way of Variance (ANOVA) followed by 5%-degree DMRT test. The result shows that gambir catechin has the effect (p<0.05) on reducing cholesterol level in hypercholesterolemic patients. Abstract

The main objective of the program at the community nutrition service center is to encourage Padang State University clinics to provide holistic community nutrition services. This service center is assisted by nutrition from FMIPA, and FPP Culinary Experts, as well as from FIK, which is intended for the community. The implementation of this activity is managed by a group of lecturers who are scientifically closely related to the program to be made. The proposed community nutrition service center is expected to develop well in providing individual and community services based on clinical nutrition. Community nutrition service centers are oriented towards other health service efforts found in clinics, namely promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative. The advantage of this service center compared to other first level health facilities such as the puskesmas is that the services provided are accompanied by assistance in the field when conducting counseling and providing services with integrity. The main targets of community nutrition services are children, adolescents, pregnant women and the elderly. The programs carried out include infant and toddler nutrition service programs, youth nutrition services, pregnant women nutrition services, elderly nutrition services and pre-participation examinations. This clinic is under the Chancellor of UNP which will be developed within the Center for Health Service Development. It is hoped that the UNP clinic will continue to develop according to the capabilities of each faculty in developing health services according to their scientific fields.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the developing countries that experiences diarrhea problems. This is because of its high morbidity and mortality. Diarrhea is an endemic disease that has the potential to cause Extraordinary Events (KLB) which are often accompanied by death in Indonesia. Most diarrheal diseases can be prevented through safe drinking water and adequate sanitation and hygiene. This study aims to determine the relationship between environmental sanitation and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers. This research uses a systematic review method (Systematic Review) which is a research method for identifying, evaluating, and interpreting research results that are relevant to a particular research topic, or phenomenon that is the focus of the research. The results of this research show that there is a relationship between environmental sanitation such as the physical quality of water, ownership of a toilet, type of floor in the house, and the incidence of diarrhea. It is hoped that after this research is carried out, mothers and health policy stakeholders such as the health department and community health centers can improve residential environmental health programs to have physically clean water quality and good environmental sanitation.
