Abstract

Learning activities that utilize digital technology for online learning are an alternative during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of electronic comic media based on problem-based learning integrated with Islamic values to improve students' creative thinking skills. This study uses a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model. The subjects in the study were 90 students of class VIII. Data collection techniques using research instruments with quantitative data analysis. The data collection instrument was by giving essay questions in the form of a creative thinking ability test. The study of creative thinking skills by calculating the N-gain and the significance test was carried out using an average difference test through a t-test with the help of SPSS. The results showed that the value of significance (2 tailed) from the two schools, namely 0.00 < 0.05, then H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average creative thinking ability of the pretest and posttest both at SMP N 3 Watumalang and at SMP IT Permata Hati, which means that there is an effect of using E-Comic media in improving students' creative thinking skills

Abstract

The implementation of the 2013 curriculum led to several innovations in the learning process including using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This study aims to determine the interests and learning outcomes of students after being treated with the PBL model assisted by teaching aids. This type of research is a pre-experimental study with a one-shot case study design. The research sample consisted of 14 students of MA Uswatun Hasanah Semarang. The data collection technique used a written test instrument and a student interest questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that the learning outcomes of students analyzed by the N-gain test have increased with an N-gain coefficient of 0.21 which is included in the low criteria. The percentage of students' interest in learning obtained an average result of 81.786% so that it is categorized as very good. The results also showed that the use of the PBL model resulted in 85% completeness of the learning outcomes of the Circular Motion material so it could be concluded that the PBL model assisted by teaching aids had an influence on the learning outcomes of students.

Abstract

Light or optical spectrum is a part of electromagnetic radiation and has several electromagnetic wave properties; one of them is undergoing diffraction. Diffraction or light bending occurred when a light went through a narrow gap. By utilizing that principle, it was proven that a piece of hair could be assumed as a single gap, so the thickness of a piece of hair could be determined, which lead to the explanation of the phenomenon of a piece of hair sliced seven times.  As a tool, the used sim cardholder is used to put hair using adhesive tape. Then the sim card is placed between the light source and the screen. The light source used is a red laser with a wavelength of 660 nm. Hair is placed in two positions: horizontally and vertically. Hair that is laid horizontally will create a vertical light-dark pattern, and hair that is placed vertically will form a horizontal light-dark pattern. The dark and light patterns on the screen are measured using a ruler according to the order of each pattern that is formed. The hair thickness measurement results using a red laser with a wavelength of 660 nm obtained hair thickness of d = (0.01146 ± 0.00019) cm for hair that is placed horizontally and d = (0.01151 ± 0.00011) cm for vertically placed hair. This data has more or less proven that there is potential to "split" the hair into sections, but it has not been proven that the hair can be split into seven parts, so there is still a chance to prove it.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the attenuation of the sound produced by a Kentongan musical instrument based on variations in the length of the Kentongan. Data were collected in a quiet room by starting to measure the noise and atmosphere of the room. This study used Sound Meter Software with version 3.4.5 with a maximum sound intensity limit of ~ 90 dB, mobile as an intermediary. This study used Kentongan with a length of 1, 29 cm and a length of 2 that was 34.1 cm. Experiments were carried out 3 times with the first experiment without Kentongan, then Kentongan 1 and then Kentongan 2. The sound intensity produced by without Kentongan is an average of 60.08 dB, then with Kentongan 1 that is, with an average of 61.86 dB, and Kentongan 2 with an average of 56.68 dB. ©2019 JNSMR UIN Walisongo. Abstract

Abstract

Argumentation skills are a prominent domain that must be trained for prospective science teacher students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of science learning which is implemented using virtual inquiry learning in improving the argumentation skills of prospective science teachers. We used a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control class design where researchers divided students into two classes: the experimental class (N = 38) and the control class (N = 38). The learning process in the experiment class was carried out by the virtual-inquiry model which was inserted with scientific argumentation activities, while in the control class, the learning process was carried out using the virtual-inquiry model without inserting scientific argumentation activities. All students involved in the research were given a test to measure argumentation skills between before and after the learning process. Argumentation skills are analyzed in two aspects, namely the completeness of organs and the scientific aspect. Data were analyzed by categorizing each student's answer into each aspect of argumentation skills, both before and after the learning process. After that, the mean difference significance test was carried out. Then, n-gain was used to analyze the increase of argumentation skill. The results indicate that the virtual-inquiry model which was inserted by argumentation activities was better at improving the argumentation skills of prospective science teachers compared to the virtual inquiry model without being inserted by argumentation activities. In the experimental class, the increase in argumentation skills showed high criteria. These results were obtained both on the aspect of organ completeness and the scientific aspect. Meanwhile, in the control class, it is in the low category for the aspect of organ completeness and is in the moderate category for the scientific aspect. These findings indicate that in scientific argumentation training, it is very important to involve students to practice argumentation directly.Keywords: virtual-inquiry, argumentation skill, scientific aspect of argumentation, organ completeness aspect of argumentation
