Abstract

Film is one of the mass communication media, producing and displaying a message or ideology. This study aims to analyze the representation of culture and resistance to colonialism in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach in a Qualitative method. Data were obtained from selected scenes that display visual symbols such as hand gesture symbols, spiritual interactions with ancestors, conversations between characters, costume that shows culture, and women's leadership and traditional-modern technology. The results of this study are 1) women's emancipation through female figures who lead and are strong to break the stigma of weak women and challenging subordinative stereotypes 2) culture as an element and foundation for forming identity reflected in language, costume, architecture, and spiritual traditions 3) the film builds a counter-narrative to the colonial view by repositioning Africa and Mesoamerica as advanced, sovereign, and spiritually valuable regions. This representation shows that cultural identity and communal solidarity are the main forces in facing neocolonial domination. These findings contribute to media and cultural studies by highlighting how popular films can be a medium for the articulation of postcolonial ideology and symbolic resistance through visual narratives.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of code switching and code mixing used in Indonesian language learning at SMP N 01 Limpung, Batang Regency. This research is included in qualitative descriptive. Data processing that examines code switching and code mixing is thus the data in this study in the form of oral data, namely, speech code switching and code mixing that exist in Indonesian language learning. The data sources came from Indonesian language students and teachers at SMP N 01 Limpung. Data collection techniques in this study used the observation and note technique. The first step, the researcher listens to the use of language in Indonesian language learning. Furthermore, the researcher recorded the speech data including code switching and code mixing. The results showed that the speech used when learning Indonesian at SMP N 01 Limpung included: (1) code switching from Indonesian to Javanese and (2) code switching from Javanese to Indonesian. The form of code mixing that occurs in Indonesian language learning is in the form of: (1) the form of code mixing in the form of word insertion, (2) code mixing in the form of phrases

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in developing the character of responsibility in thematic learning of Pancasila and Civics Education (PPKn) content in grade III elementary school. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with classroom teachers, and analysis of learning documents. The results showed that teachers have a central role in shaping the character of responsibility through various teaching strategies, such as giving assignments that require individual and group responsibility, and implementing positive discipline in the classroom. Teachers also act as role models in demonstrating an attitude of responsibility, which is exemplified through consistency in daily rules and behavior. Thematic learning with Civics content has proven to be effective in integrating responsibility values, because it allows students to understand concepts in a broader context and is relevant to everyday life. In addition, the involvement of parents and the community in the learning process also strengthens the cultivation of responsibility character. This study concludes that the role of teachers is crucial in the formation of responsible character in students.

Abstract

Xenomania bahasa digambarkan dengan adanya penggunaan bahasa asing secara berlebihan. Xenomania memiliki berbagai bentuk. Penelitian ini membahas tentang bentuk xenomania bahasa yang terdapat dalam brosur iklan yang beredar di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk xenomania yang terdapat dalam brosur iklan mobil yang tersebar di Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif yang mana data xenomania bahasa berasal dari brosur iklan mobil akan dikumpulkan oleh peneliti. Subjek penelitian ini adalah brosur iklan mobil. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah beberapa data penggunaan kata asing yang ditemukan, sedangkan sumber datanya adalah brosur iklan mobil yang diambil dari internet. Teknik pengumpulan data mengunakan teknik simak dan catat.. Kemudian, brosur disimak, dibaca, dan dicatat apa saja kata-kata asing yang ada di dalam brosur. Terdapat 12 brosur yang dianalisis. Keabsahan pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik triangulasi sumber. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan tiga tahap, yaitu reduksi data bahasa asing, penyajian data berupa kalimat atau kata asing yang terdapat dalam brosur, dan penarikan kesimpulan makna penggunaaan bahasa asing itu digunakan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah analisis bentuk-bentuk xenomania yang terdapat dalam brosur iklan mobil. Terdapat xenomania bahasa dalam setiap brosur. Selain itu, terdapat kalimat persuasif dalam bahasa Inggris yang bersifat mengajak dan mempengaruhi pembaca. Terdapat beberapa xenomania bahasa yang ditemukan pada brosur mobil yang tersebar di Indonesia, di antaranya start from DP 23jt-an Toyota, greater change for a new beginning, scan QR code, dan lainnya. Xenomania language is explained by the excessive use of foreign languages. Xenomania has various forms. This study will discuss the forms of language xenomania contained in advertising brochures circulating in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of xenomania contained in car advertising brochures spread in Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative research method in which data on language xenomania from car advertising brochures will be collected by researchers. The subject of this study is car advertising brochures. The data collected are some data on the use of foreign words found, while the data sources are car advertising brochures taken from the internet. The data collection technique in this study is observation, in which researchers will observe brochures by filtering brochures circulating in Indonesia but containing foreign languages. Then, the brochures are listened to, read, and note down any foreign words in the brochures. There are 12 brochures explained. The results of this study are an analysis of the forms of xenomania contained in car advertising brochures. There is language xenomania in each brochure. In addition, there are persuasive sentences in English that are inviting and influencing readers. Toyota has succeeded in becoming a favorite car by achieving the best-selling car sales in Indonesia because of the advertisements that influence it.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze: (1) how is the implementation of religious character education in term moral knowing students in classroom learning, (2) how is the implementation of religious character education in term moral knowing students into extracurricular programs, (3) how is the implementation of religious character education in term moral knowing student in self-development programs at an Elementary school in Surakarta. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques use interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The primary data sources were obtained from the results of researcher's observations and interviews with school principals, teachers of the Aqidah Akhlak subject, classroom teachers and 31 students in class 4A at an Elementary school in Surakarta. While the secondary data was obtained by researchers from existing sources in the form of evidence, notes and files. Data is analyzed by performing data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of the research show that the implementation of religious character education in term moral knowing students in learning Fiqh, Arabic, Aqidah Akhlak, Al-Qur'an and Hadits, and Kemuhammadiyahan. The implementation of religious character education in term moral knowing students into extracurricular programs is calligraphy, tapak suci, hizbul wathan and tahfidz Qur'an. Implementation of religious character education in term moral knowing student in self-development programs is the habit of praying dhuha, Friday infaq, cultum, tadarus, Friday prayers, dhikr after prayers, memorizing verses of the Al-Qur'an, memorizing short hadits and memorizing daily prayers at an Elementary school in Surakarta.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is a complex and multidimensional social phenomenon, thus attracting the attention of many parties, including experts, policy makers, and the general public. This study provides insight into how film media influences public perceptions and attitudes towards social issues, particularly juvenile delinquency. By examining the semiotic representation in "Galaksi", this study contributes to a deeper understanding of how films construct and communicate social narratives about juvenile behavior. This study aims to analyze the representation of juvenile delinquency in the film "Galaksi" (2023) using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic approach and Stuart Hall's theory of representation. Specifically, this study seeks to: Identify elements in the film that represent juvenile delinquency & Explore the signifiers and signifieds used to depict juvenile delinquency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach within the constructivist paradigm. Data collection techniques include film analysis and open-ended interviews, with source triangulation used to ensure data validity. An inductive approach is applied to build a comprehensive understanding of the representation of juvenile delinquency in film media. This study refers to Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory, which examines the relationship between the signifier (the physical form of the sign) and the signified (conceptual meaning), and Stuart Hall's representation theory to analyze how meaning is constructed and communicated through cultural texts. This study aims to determine what elements in the film 'Galaksi' represent juvenile delinquency based on Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic theory and to determine what signifiers and signifieds are used in the film 'Galaksi'.

Abstract

The skill of handwriting, particularly in the form of cursive writing, plays a crucial role in the cognitive and motor development of elementary school students. This study aims to analyze the needs of both teachers and students in relation to innovative models for teaching cursive writing in elementary schools. The research was conducted at SDN 01 Tunggulrejo, focusing on the challenges faced by fifth-grade students who show a diverse range of abilities in cursive handwriting. The study employed a qualitative approach, using interviews, surveys, and class observations to collect data. The findings reveal that the current model of teaching cursive writing is largely conventional and ineffective in meeting the diverse needs of students. Most teachers expressed the need for more innovative, flexible, and technology-integrated models to enhance the effectiveness of handwriting instruction. Additionally, students face difficulties in maintaining consistency in letter formation and writing speed, which highlights the necessity for more interactive and engaging learning strategies. The study concludes that incorporating digital tools, educational games, and teacher training can significantly improve both the motivation and the skills of students in cursive writing. These findings suggest that an integrated approach combining conventional models with modern technologies can provide a more comprehensive and effective solution for teaching cursive handwriting in elementary education.

Abstract

Differentiated Indonesian language instruction plays a vital role in supporting the optimal achievement of literacy competencies among elementary school students. This study aims to describe the implementation, identify obstacles, and explore solutions in applying differentiated Indonesian language instruction through the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach at SD Negeri 03 Tunggulrejo. The research was conducted with fourth-grade students who exhibited diverse levels of learning abilities. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach to comprehensively illustrate the strategies, challenges, and solutions encountered during the implementation of TaRL. Data collection techniques included classroom observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, as well as documentation of instructional materials. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity tested through triangulation and member checking.The main findings of the study indicate that the TaRL approach is effective in grouping students based on initial assessment results and in designing instruction tailored to their individual needs. Students with lower proficiency levels showed gradual improvement in reading and writing comprehension, while higher-level students were appropriately challenged. The challenges encountered included limited time, a lack of varied learning media, and the need for teacher adaptation to the new approach. However, through well-planned differentiated instruction strategies, teacher training, and collaboration among teachers, parents, and students, the implementation of TaRL was more effective. This study concludes that integrating the TaRL approach into differentiated Indonesian language instruction not only enhances students' literacy skills but also fosters learning motivation and creates a more inclusive, adaptive, and meaningful learning experience for all students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of gadget usage intensity on the learning motivation of elementary school students. The background of this research stems from concerns over the increasing use of gadgets among children, which may potentially decrease their focus and enthusiasm for learning. This study employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design to examine the relationship between gadget usage intensity as the independent variable and learning motivation as the dependent variable. The research subjects consisted of fifth and sixth-grade students from several private elementary schools under the Dabin Yos Sudarso cluster, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire covering frequency and duration of gadget use, as well as learning motivation indicators based on Uno’s theory. The instrument was tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson Product Moment correlation with the help of SPSS version 26. The results show a significant influence between gadget usage intensity and learning motivation, with a regression coefficient value of 0.675 and a significance level of 0.000 (< 0.05). The higher the intensity of gadget use—especially for entertainment and social media—the lower the students’ learning motivation. Learning activities through gadgets tend to be minimal and are unable to compensate for the distractions from non-educational content. The findings highlight the importance of supervision and guidance from parents and teachers in directing gadget usage appropriately, so that technology serves as a learning support rather than a hindrance.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis tindak tutur direktif yang ada pada pidato presiden Joko Widodo terkait PPKM di Indonesia. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian bahasa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik  simak dan catat. Dalam penelitian ini, data yang digunakan ada pidato presiden Joko Widodo terkait PPKM di Indonesia yang mengandung tindak tutur direktif. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pidato presiden Joko Widodo terkait PPKM di Indonesia yang diunggah pada chanel youtube. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam pidato presiden Joko Widodo terkait PPKM di Indonesia yang terdapat pada lima bagian video, ditemukan tiga jenis bentuk tindak tutur direktif, yaitu bentuk perintah, permintaan, ajakan, dan nasihat. Pada bentuk perintaj terdapat 10 data yang ditemukan. Pada bentuk permintaan terdapat 3 data yang ditemukan. Pada bentuk nasihat terdapat 2 data yang ditemukan. Pada bentuk ajakan terdapat 4 data yang ditemukan.
