Abstract

Health is one of the gifts and grace given by the creator to humans, with the gift of health, humans can carry out all their activities properly to fulfill all their life needs and their existence. This study aims to analyze the implementation of health education values in Dayah Bustanul Ulum and Dayah Futuhul Ma'arif Al-Aziziyah, focusing on the behavior of students in implementing cleanliness, healthy eating patterns, exercise, and mental health. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design is used to understand students' understanding of the concept of holistic health that includes physical, mental, and spiritual aspects, which are in accordance with Islamic teachings. Primary and secondary data were collected through interviews, observations, field notes, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that both dayahs have a strong commitment to educating students about healthy living as part of worship and social responsibility. Dayah Bustanul Ulum emphasizes the provision of public health facilities with adequate leadership support and facilities, so that the health culture there is more effectively implemented. Meanwhile, Dayah Futuhul Ma'arif Al-Aziziyah faces challenges in leadership support and limited facilities, which hinder the effectiveness of health program implementation. These findings reinforce the importance of health-conscious leadership, provision of adequate facilities, and integration of health education into the curriculum as effective steps to increase awareness and implementation of healthy living behaviors among students. The conclusion is that the different approaches in these two dayahs reflect variations in the application of health values, such as healthy diet, hygiene, and physical activity, which are based on Islamic principles.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to evaluate the representation and relevance of religious moderation values in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) textbooks for the Senior High School (SMA) level in North Sumatera. The study responds to the discrepancy between national policies emphasizing the importance of moderation and textbook content that does not fully reflect principles of inclusivity, pluralism, and interfaith dialogue. Design/methods/approach – A qualitative approach was employed using the Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) method on officially sanctioned PAI textbooks based on the Merdeka Curriculum and KMA No. 183 of 2019. The analysis was conducted on narrative content, visuals, learning activities, and other graphic elements. Data coding and interpretation were supported by ATLAS.ti software, with validity ensured through researcher triangulation and analytical auditing. Findings – The results indicate that PAI textbooks generally represent religious moderation values such as tasamuh (tolerance), tawassuth (moderation), and i’tidal (justice). However, values such as muwathanah (national commitment) and musawah(equality) remain underrepresented. Visual aspects and the integration of learning technology are also minimal, and weaknesses were identified in the editing of religious terminology. Research implications – The study's results serve as a foundation for policymakers, textbook authors, and educators to revise instructional materials to be more inclusive in narrative, visual, and digital dimensions. Recommendations are directed toward strengthening the internalization of moderation values through contextual pedagogical approaches and technology integration.

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the meaning of teacher professionalism as the central figure in shaping students’ Islamic character at MTs Zia Salsabila, drawing on Imam Al-Ghazali’s theoretical framework which emphasizes instruction, role modeling, and guidance as core elements of moral education. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were gathered through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model involving data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion verification. The findings reveal that teachers perceive professionalism as a moral trust to nurture an Islamic generation, embodied in four core competencies pedagogical, personal, social, and professional with personal competence emerging as the most influential in developing students’ Islamic character, particularly through consistent role modeling, empathy, and adherence to Islamic values. The novelty of this research lies in highlighting teachers not merely as educators but as pivotal moral exemplars, while offering a unique perspective by focusing on MTs Zia Salsabila, an institution rarely examined in previous studies, thus enriching the discourse on implementing Islamic character education through teacher role modeling.

Abstract

This study examines the ethics of educators according to Sheikh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah in the book "Al-Mu'allim Wa Asalibuhu fi At-Ta'lim" and its relevance to the code of ethics for teachers in Indonesia. The main objective is to explore the suitability of the ethics discussed by Abu Ghuddah with the code of ethics for teachers in Indonesia, as well as the adaptation and integration of the religious values taught to enrich the code of ethics. This research is a concept analysis using primary data from the book "Ar-Rasul Al-Mu'allim Wa Asalibuhu fi At-Ta'lim" by Abu Ghuddah and its translation by Abu Husamuddin, as well as secondary data from various relevant literatures. Data collection went through four stages: preparation, bibliography preparation, time management, and research recording, with literature techniques that included understanding the topic, searching for supporting information, organizing reading materials, and recording in-depth research. Data analysis was conducted using the content analysis method. The results show that the Indonesian teachers' code of ethics emphasizes compassion, integrity, professionalism, and justice and is highly relevant to Abu Ghuddah's principles. Although Abu Ghuddah's approach is more religious, the values can be adapted and integrated into the more secular Indonesian teachers' code of ethics. This research enriches the code of ethics for educators in Indonesia by combining values. The adaptation of these values in the multicultural and pluralistic context of Indonesia can create a more meaningful, inclusive learning environment that is in line with the principles of inclusive education, producing a generation that is intellectually intelligent and has strong morals and ethics.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the specific challenges faced by Akidah Akhlak teachers in shaping students' moral attitudes and to analyze the strategies implemented to address these issues at MTs S Darul 'Arafah Pangkalan Brandan. Despite the central role of Akidah Akhlak in Islamic education, studies exploring the practical barriers and adaptive strategies of teachers in local madrasah contexts remain limited. This study fills that gap by providing empirical insights into the micro-level dynamics of character education in Islamic schools. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected from four purposively selected teachers through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation. Data credibility was ensured through triangulation and member checking, while analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that teachers encounter persistent obstacles, including low student motivation, negative peer and media influences, limited facilities, and weak parental support. Contributing factors are rooted in family background, peer pressure, social media exposure, and students’ psychological conditions. To overcome these challenges, teachers adopt multifaceted strategies such as role modeling (uswah hasanah), moral advice, habituation through routine activities, individualized approaches, the use of digital media, and collaborative partnerships with parents and madrasah authorities. This study contributes to the broader discourse on Islamic character education by highlighting the necessity of a holistic, contextual, and collaborative approach. The implications underscore the importance of strengthening teacher capacity, parental engagement, and institutional support in sustaining effective Akidah Akhlak education.
