Abstract

Abstract

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a medical condition in which blood pressure increases above normal, namely 140/90 mmHg, and carries a risk of morbidity or death (mortality). This disease is often referred to as the silent disease. Irreversible hypertension and modifiable hypertension are two categories of hypertension risk factors. Age, gender, ethnicity and hereditary factors are causes of hypertension that cannot be changed. Smoking, obesity, monotonous lifestyle and stress are modifiable causes of hypertension. In Namorih village, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, this quantitative research aims to determine the relationship between the incidence of hypertension in older people and the influence of their diet and lifestyle. This type of research is quantitative analytical research with a cross-sectional study research design, which means data is collected simultaneously or all at once. The Namorih Village community produced 60 research samples. Interview results showed that 52 out of 60 adults over 60 years who suffer from hypertension smoke, like salty foods, and rarely exercise. Through education, encouraging a healthy lifestyle, and regular blood pressure checks, it is important to treat hypertension in the elderly. Knowing these risk factors can help prevent and better control hypertension.

Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is theoretically influenced by several risk factors. The first risk factors are those that cannot be changed such as age, gender, and genetics. Modifiable risk factors include education, knowledge, behavior, and attitude. This study aims to identify factors that contribute to hypertension in Bangun Sari Village, Datuk Tanah Datar Sub-district. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional analytic design. The study population consisted of all residents of Bangun Sari Village, with a total population of 4,099 people and 1,148 households. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique, with the Lameshow formula, resulting in 94 respondents. Data were collected through observation sheets. The results showed a statistically significant relationship between age, knowledge, behavior, attitude, and occupation with the incidence of hypertension (with a p-value of 0.001 for all variables except education). There was a statistically significant association between employment status and the incidence of hypertension (p-value = 0.002). However, no significant association was found between education level and the incidence of hypertension (p-value = 0.501). Therefore, there is a statistically significant relationship between age, knowledge, behavior, attitude, and occupation with the incidence of hypertension, but there is no significant relationship between education level with the incidence of hypertension in Bangun Sari Village.

Abstract

Work accidents often occur due to unsafe actions and risky work environment conditions. One effort to prevent work accidents is by using PPE. Based on observations conducted by researchers through interviews with oil palm harvesters, it is known that 3 out of 5 workers understand the use of PPE correctly. However, there are still workers who are less aware of the importance of using PPE while working. The purpose of the study was to determine the factors related to the behavior of using PPE in oil palm harvesters at PT.X. This study used a cross-sectional design, with a research sample of 71 workers and using total sampling. The analysis used was chi-square. The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.000; PR = 2.051), attitude (p = 0.000; PR = 2.431), availability of PPE (p = 0.000; PR = 2.037), training (p = 0.000, PR = 2.037), regulations (p = 0.000, PR = 2.431), and supervision (p = 0.000, PR = 2.431). The conclusion of the research results, factors related to the behavior of using PPE are knowledge, attitude, availability of PPE, training, regulations, and supervision.

Abstract

Work productivity is an important factor in achieving performance results and is influenced by the health and nutritional status of workers. This study aimed to examine the relationship between nutritional status and breakfast habits with work productivity among processing department workers at PTPN IV Regional I PKS Rambutan, Tebing Tinggi City. A quantitative cross-sectional design was applied with total sampling of 58 workers. Nutritional status was assessed using Body Mass Index (BMI), breakfast habits through a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), and work productivity using a structured questionnaire. Data analysis employed the chisquare test with a 95% confidence level. Results showed that 46.6% of respondents had normal nutritional status, 15.5% were overweight, and 34.5% were obese. Regarding breakfast habits, 62.1% were in the sufficient category and 24.1% in the poor category. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between nutritional status and work productivity (p = 0.000) as well as between breakfast habits and work productivity (p = 0.008). Workers with normal nutritional status and good breakfast habits tended to have higher productivity, while obesity and poor breakfast habits were associated with lower performance. It is concluded that maintaining a balanced nutritional status and regular breakfast consumption can improve productivity. Companies should implement workplace nutrition programs, encourage healthy eating patterns, and facilitate access to nutritious breakfasts before working hours.
