Abstract

SOCIALIZATION OF COVID-19 AND PRACTICE OF MAKING DISINFECTANT LIQUIDS FOR FLOOR MOP MATERIALS IN ISLAMIC MODERN BOARDING SCHOOL OF DARUSALAM, KEPAHIANG REGENCY, BENGKULU PROVINCE. Floor cleaner liquid is a disinfectant used to prevent the transmission of environmental pathogenic microorganisms, especially on the floors. The high price of floor cleaner in the market and difficult to find in the condition of the current Covid-19 outbreak, make this community service activity need to be done and it aims to overcome this problem by holding out socialization about Covid-19 and the practice of making disenfectant fluids as floor cleaning materials at the Islamic Modern Boarding School of Darussalam, Kepahiang Regency. It is expected, by this activity can create a small business to manufacture floor mop from disinfectant with good management in this school. Community Service Activities (PPM) were well received by the students and the teaching staff of the Islamic Modern Boarding School of Darussalam. Before giving service materials to community service participants, the participants or students did not really know what was the cause and prevention of Covid-19 in the surrounding environment and how to make disinfectants. The giving of the pre-test stage questionnaire after the end of the socialization was considered as feedback for participants resulting in an increase in understanding of Covid-19, increasing awareness of the importance of maintaining clean floors and understanding of how to make disinfectant fluids as floor mops made from sodium hypochlorite.

Abstract

Many of potential enzymes can be found in the ecoenzyme, one of them is amylase. Amylase is an enzyme that is able to hydrolize the glycoside bonds of starch or starch into dextrin, glucose and maltose which is widely used in various industries such as beverages. This study aims to isolate the ecoenzyme bacteria and test their ability to produce amylase. Isolation of ecoenzyme bacteria was carried out using serial dilution methods 10-1, 10-3, 10-5. A total of 0.1 ml of each dilution series was pipetted and spread on the Nutrient agar (NA) medium. The bacterial isolates that grew were then purified and identified by morphological observation, Gram staining and their enzymatic activity was tested using Starch Agar (SA) media qualitatively. The results of this study showed there were 39 bacterial isolates from ecoenzyme with different morphological characteristics. The amylase activity test were found that 34 isolates had a positive activity to hydrolize the starch in the SA media which was indicated by the formation of a clear zone around the bacterial colonies. Each bacterial isolate had a different hydrolysis index value, which ranged from 9.45 to 23.65. The highest clear zone diameter index value from starch hydrolysis was EJM 15 isolate.

Abstract

This exploratory study aims to analyze the water quality of Selagan River and Tes Lake based on diversity of microalgae. Sampling was done by systematic purposive sampling. Results of study found 38 species (8 classes) of microalgae in Selagan River and 48 species (9 classes) in Tes Lake. The bundance of microalgae at the upstream, middle, and downstream stations of Selagan River were 3714 ind/ml, 105 ind/ml, and 315 ind/ml, with diversity index 0.25; 1.93; and 1.72. The microalgae dominance index in river is 0.95; 0.58; and 0.75 low to high criteria. The evenness index value for each station is 0.09; 0.78; and 0.63 low to high categories. Meanwhile, abundance of microalgae in Tes Lake at the inlet, middle, and outlet stations were 192 ind/ml, 204 ind/ml, and 200 ind/ml, with diversity index of 2.70; 2.55; and 2.05. The microalgae dominance index was 0.10; 0.28; and 0.2 low category. The evenness index value for each station is 0.78; 0.75; 0.64 high category. Conclusion, condition of Selagan River at the upstream station is classified as heavily polluted, the middle and downstream stations are classified as clean. Meanwhile, condition of Tes Lake is clean and shows normal tolerance range for microalgae life.

Abstract

Fish is one of the fishery food ingredients needed by humans because fish meat has compounds that are needed by the body. These compounds consist of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and mineral salts. Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has a lot of potential in agriculture and fisheries, and Sorong, West Papua, is no exception. The results of people's fisheries in Sorong, West Papua Province are quite high. Based on data from the Sorong City Fisheries Service, there are five types of fish that are exported abroad, such as China, Korea, and Japan. These types of fish include tuna, mackerel, bubarah fish, red snapper, and grouper or rock snapper. Stone snapper is not only consumed in the form of fresh fish, fish collectors also process it into dried salted fish. The purpose of this study was to analyze the hemolysis activity of pathogenic bacteria in salted snapper in the Remu market, Sorong city. This study is a descriptive study by providing a description of the object under study, namely the analysis of the hemolytic activity of pathogenic bacteria in salted rock snapper (Lutjanus vivanus) originating from the Remu traditional market in Sorong city. The conclusion of the research that has been carried out is that the hemolytic index of pathogenic bacteria for each sample shows the hemolytic index area from the highest to the lowest, sequentially from the untreated sample, namely the sample Do (110.0 mm), Ko (116.6 mm), To (453.3 mm), samples that were treated with frying before isolation were samples Dg (52.5 mm), Kg (3.5 mm), Tg (40.0 mm), while the smallest hemolytic index value was the sample that was boiled before The isolated samples were Dm (41.6 mm), Km (3.5 mm), and Tm samples (18.3 mm). Furthermore, all test samples showed β- hemolytic or total hemolytic.Ikan sangat dibutuhkan manusia sebab daging ikan memiliki senyawa-senyawa yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh tubuh. Senyawa-senyawa tersebut terdiri dari protein, lemak, karbohidrat, vitamin dan garam-garam mineral. Indonesia merupakan negara kepulauan yang memiliki banyak potensi dalam bidang pertanian maupun bidang perikanan, tidak terkecuali di Sorong Papua Barat. Hasil perikanan rakyat di Sorong Provinsi Papua Barat cukup tinggi. Berdasarkan data dari Dinas Perikanan Kota Sorong ada lima jenis ikan yang di ekspor keluar negeri seperti china, Korea, dan jepang. Jenis ikan tersebut diantaranya ialah ikan tuna, ikan tenggiri, ikan bubarah, ikan kakap merah, dan ikan kerapuh atau kakap batu. Ikan kakap batu selain dikonsumsi dalam bentuk ikan segar, para pengepul ikan juga mengolahnya ke dalam bentuk ikan asin kering. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk menganalisis aktivitas hemolysis bakteri pathogen pada ikan asin kakap batu di pasar Remu kota Sorong. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan memberikan penggambaran tentang objek yang diteliti yaitu analisis aktivitas hemolisis bakteri patogen pada ikan asin kakap batu (Lutjanus vivanus) yang berasal dari pasar Remu kota Sorong. Adapun kesimpulan dari penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan ialah indeks hemolitik bakteri patogen untuk tiap sampel berturut-turut menunjukkan luas indeks hemolitik dari yang tertinggi hingga ke rendah, berturut-turut mulai dari sampel yang tidak diberikan perlakuan yakni sampel Do (110.0 mm), Ko (116.6 mm), To (453.3 mm), sampel yang diberi perlakuan penggorengan sebelum isolasi ialah sampel Dg (52.5 mm), Kg (3.5 mm), Tg (40.0 mm), sedangkan nilai indeks hemolitik yang paling kecil ialah sampel yang diberi perlakuan rebus sebelum diisolasi yaitu sampel Dm (41.6 mm), Km (3.5 mm), dan sampel Tm (18.3 mm). Selanjutnya seluruh sampel uji menunjukkan sifat β-hemolitik atau hemolitik total.

Abstract

Endophytic bacteria are a beneficial bacteria that live in plant tissue. Several studies have shown that certain endophytic bacteria can produce secondary metabolites that have health effects. The andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC) have several properties, one of which is as antibacterial against pathogenic bacteria. The most common bacterial infections in humans are caused by commensal bacteria in the body such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This study used a qualitative data collection method with the type of experimental laboratory research to isolate the endophytic bacteria andaliman which had been tested against the pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The initial stage were isolation of endophytic bacteria and observation of colony characteristics, after obtaining isolates with different colony characteristics, a Gram stain test and a antagonist test for pathogenic bacteria were carried out. In this study, 252 colonies grew and there were 85 isolates with different colony characteristics. From all the isolates, there were two isolates that could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and seventeen isolates that could inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

South Sorong, West Papua, is one of the areas that produce rebon shrimp. Rebon shrimp can be made into fermented products such as rebon shrimp paste (terasi) or acidic rebon shrimp paste (cincalok). Terasi is a food additive that functions as a seasoning or flavoring, while cincalok is a fermented food added with salt and rice. The objective of this study was to determine the contamination of E. coli and Salmonella in fermented rebon shrimp products. This study was a descriptive study by describing the presence or absence of contamination by E. coli and Salmonella sp. on rebon shrimp paste (terasi) and acidic rebon shrimp paste (cincalok). The study concluded that the samples of rebon shrimp paste (terasi) and acidic rebon shrimp paste (cincalok) in South Sorong were safe from contamination by Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp. According to the Indonesian National Standards Agency, fermented fish products with or without salt, good and suitable products for consumption are those that are negative for Salmonella, V. cholera, Escherichia coli with a limit of <3 MPN/g and Staphylococcus aureus should be <1 x103 colonies/g.

Abstract

AbstrakFosfor merupakan salah satu unsur makro nutrien yang dibutuhkan untuk perkembangan tumbuhan dan dapat dihasilkan oleh bakteri pelarut fosfat. Namun, keberadaan fosfat dalam tumbuhan tidak dapat digunakan oleh tumbuhan itu sendiri, sehingga dibutuhkan bantuan bakteri endofit yang berperan sebagai agen pemacu pertumbuhan tanaman yang dapat melarutkan fosfat pada tumbuhan, khususnya tumbuhan akar kuning (Arcangelisia flava (L.) Merr) yang tumbuh liar di Pulau Enggano, Provinsi Bengkulu. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memperoleh bakteri endofit yang dapat melarutkan fosfat. Isolasi dilakukan dengan metode sterilisasi permukaan, menggunakan alkohol 70% dan natrium hipoklorit 5,25% lalu ditempelkan di media NA. Isolat yang diperoleh kemudian diuji kemampuan melarutkan fosfat dengan digoreskan ke media Pikovskaya, lalu diukur zona bening. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 18 isolat bakteri endofit, 8 di antaranya dapat melarutkan fosfat. Isolat AKE15 dan AKE18 memiliki kemampuan lebih tinggi untuk melarutkan fosfat dengan indeks pelarut fosfat (IP) ± 1,59 dan ± 1,01. Identifikasi berdasarkan pewarnaan Gram dan uji biokimia dari 8 isolat bakteri endofit pelarut fosfat (BPF) memiliki kedekatan dengan 4 genus, yaitu Bacillus, Micrococcus, Pseudomonas, dan Morococcus.AbstrakPhosphorus is one of the macronutrients required for plant development and produced by phosphate solubilizing bacteria. However, plants are unable to utilize phosphate themselves, thus they need the help of endophytic bacteria that play role as plant growth-promoting with ability to solubilize phosphates in plants, particularly in yellow root plants (Arcangelisia flava (L.) Merr) that grow wildly in Enggano Island, Bengkulu Province. The research aimed to obtain endophytic bacteria that can solubilize phosphate. Isolation of endophytic bacteria was carried out by surface sterilization method using 70% alcohol and 5.25% sodium hypochlorite to be further placed on Nutrient Agar (NA) media. The isolates obtained were further tested for their ability to solubilize phosphate by streaking the isolate on Pikovskaya media and measuring the clear zones formed. The results showed that 8 out of 18 endophytic bacterial isolates were able to solubilize phosphate. Endophytic isolates of AKE15 and AKE18 were found to have higher ability to solubilize phosphate with a phosphate solubilizing index (IP) of about ± 1.59 and ± 1.01, respectively. Identification based on Gram staining and biochemical tests indicated that 8 endophytic bacterial solubilizing isolates were closely related to 4 genera, namely Bacillus, Micrococcus, Pseudomonas, and Morococcus.

Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus dan Propianibacterium acnes adalah bakteri yang menjadi salah satu penyebab masalah jerawat pada kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan daya hambat dari ekstrak etanol 96% tali putri (Cassytha filiformis L.) terhadap S.aureus dan P. acnes. Uji aktivitas antibakteri yang dilakukan pada peneltian ini menggunakan metode difusi cakram. Ekstrak etanol 96% tanaman tali putri diuji pada konsentrasi 0,75%, 1,5%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12%. Hasil uji aktivitas ekstrak etanol 96 % tanaman tali putri terhadap S. aureus pada konsentrasi ekstrak 0,75% , 1,5%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12% masing-masing memiliki diameter hambat (clear zone) rata-rata  adalah 6,3 mm, 6 mm, 5 mm, 4,3 mm, 3,9 mm, dan 3,1 mm. Sedangkan hasil uji aktivitas ekstrak etanol 96 % tanaman tali putri terhadap P. acnes pada konsentrasi ekstrak 0,75% , 1,5%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12% masing-masing memiliki diameter daya hambat (clear zone) rata-rata  adalah 1,1 mm, 8,2 mm, 2,6 mm, 2,95 mm, 2,87 mm, dan 5,72 mm. Aktivitas hambatan ekstrak etanol 96% tali putri terhadap bakteri S. aureus dan P. Acne terlihat pada konsentrasi 0.75% dengan diameter daya hambat masing-masingnya adalah 6,3 mm dan 1,1 mm.

Abstract

This study aims to explore perceptions related to the learning process and students' needs for environment-based learning media in the Biology Education Study Program at PGRI Silampari University. The method used is survey research with research samples, namely students who take Environmental Science courses and lecturers of the course. The study results show that the teaching-learning process in Environmental Sciences only takes place in the classroom using E-Books and relevant materials packaged in PPT as teaching material sources due to limited time for lectures. Student perceptions and criteria for the development of learning media from lecturers refer to the packaging of learning media products that contain information related to Environmental Science with the right material objectives and concepts, are easy to understand, interactive, easy to use, contain animation and media display must be attractive. In conclusion, it is necessary to develop learning media to make the learning atmosphere more fun, interactive and exciting, one of which is through the development of Learning Blog media.
