Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to develop a mathematics learning video based on the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (IRME) approach by integrating the local cultural context of Jumputan Gambo fabric to support sixth-grade elementary students’ understanding of mixed arithmetic operations. Method: This research employed a development research design using the Rowntree model, which consists of planning, development, and evaluation stages. The evaluation stage was conducted using Tessmer’s formative evaluation framework, including self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, small group evaluation, and field testing. Four expert validators assessed the developed learning video in terms of media design, content accuracy, language clarity, and instructional design. Practicality data were obtained through student response questionnaires, while effectiveness was measured using pretest and posttest assessments. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and normalized gain (N-Gain). Findings: The results indicate that the developed learning video met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Expert validation showed a very valid category with an average score of 92.85%. Practicality results from the one-to-one and small group trials ranged from 92.22% to 100%. The effectiveness test demonstrated an improvement in students’ learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 56.77 on the pretest to 85.48 on the posttest. The N-Gain value of 0.70 indicates a high level of learning improvement. Significance: The study demonstrates that integrating IRME principles with culturally contextualized video learning supports meaningful mathematics learning and provides practical guidance for teachers in designing contextual mathematics instruction aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ perceptions of the use of a role-playing game (RPG), Arithmetic Adventure: The Mystery of Polaria Village, in mathematics learning on arithmetic sequences and series. A quantitative descriptive research design was employed, involving 34 tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 10 Palembang selected through purposive sampling based on their participation in RPG-based learning activities. Data were collected using a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire covering four aspects: motivation and engagement, perceived learning effectiveness, social interaction and collaboration, and challenges encountered during learning. Content validity was established through expert judgment, while instrument reliability was confirmed using Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients ranging from 0.77 to 0.91, indicating acceptable to excellent internal consistency. Descriptive analysis showed that students perceived the RPG positively in terms of motivation, engagement, and learning effectiveness, while challenges related to technical constraints and game complexity were reported at a moderate level. The integration of narrative-based gameplay with mathematical thinking stages—specializing, generalizing, conjecturing, and convincing—was perceived as supporting students’ reasoning and problem-solving processes. These findings suggest that RPG-based learning can serve as a meaningful and engaging instructional medium in mathematics, although its implementation requires careful design considerations and adequate technical support.

Abstract

Despite the growing use of interactive multimedia and game-based learning in mathematics education, educational escape room games specifically designed for teaching number patterns in elementary schools remain limited and are rarely developed based on comprehensive needs analyses. This study aimed to analyze the need for developing interactive multimedia in the form of an educational escape room game for fifth-grade elementary school students. A descriptive quantitative survey was conducted involving 55 fifth-grade students and 10 teachers at SD Negeri 19 Talang Kelapa. Data were collected using validated Likert-scale questionnaires covering four aspects: teacher needs, student characteristics, learning media, and instructional design. The findings revealed that teacher needs were categorized as needed (73.2%), student characteristics as highly needed (82.4%), learning media as highly needed (87.1%), and instructional design as needed (61.7%). The learning media aspect showed the highest level of need, indicating the importance of engaging, interactive, and accessible digital resources to support mathematics learning. The proposed innovation emerging from this study is the integration of educational escape room game elements into interactive multimedia for number pattern instruction. These findings provide empirical evidence and practical guidance for developing interactive multimedia that aligns with students’ learning characteristics, teachers’ instructional needs, and effective instructional design principles. Future research is recommended to develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed multimedia in improving students’ mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills.

Abstract

The use of interactive multimedia has a big influence in the world of education, especially mathematics learning. This development research aims to produce interactive multimedia product on learning rectangles and triangles for grade IV to facilitate and motivate students in understanding and mastering mathematical concepts. Media development uses the Alessi & Trollip development model which has three stages, namely planning, design, and development including alpha testing and product beta testing to determine its feasibility. Alpha test results, product that has been developed is declared valid after repairs are made to the product. The beta test results show that multimedia is declared practical after a product revision is made. The application of interactive multimedia that has been developed in learning has an impact on improving the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students of SDN 157 Palembang, namely 85.71 percent of students have reached the minimum completeness criteria with an N-gain average value of 0.65 with moderate criteria. Pemanfaatan multimedia interaktif memberikan pengaruh besar dalam dunia pendidikan khususnya pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk multimedia interaktif pada pembelajaran persegi panjang dan segitiga untuk kelas IV guna mempermudah dan memotivasi peserta didik dalam memahami dan menguasai konsep matematika. Pengembangan media menggunakan model pengembangan Alessi & Trollip yang memiliki tiga tahapan yaitu perencanaan, desain dan pengembangan termasuk uji alpha dan uji beta produk untuk mengetahui kelayakannya. Hasil uji alpha, produk yang telah dikembangkan dinyatakan valid setelah dilakukan perbaikan terhadap produk. Hasil uji beta menunjukkan bahwa multimedia dinyatakan praktis setelah dilakukan revisi produk. Penerapan multimedia interaktif yang telah dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran berdampak terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas IV SDN 157 Palembang yaitu 85,71 persen peserta didik telah mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal dengan nilai rerata Ngain yaitu 0,65 dengan kriteria sedang.

Abstract

The use of interactive multimedia has a big impact on education, especially on the mathematics of parts, properties of blocks and cubes. This research aims to produce valid, practical, and effective multimedia. Class V B students of SD Negeri 109 Palembang are the subjects of the field test. The concept of modification of Hannafin and Peck's development pattern is the pattern used in this study, which has 3 stages, namely analyzing needs, outlines, and development and implementation with evaluation and revision at each stage. Tests on materials, designs, and media were carried out by experts and were declared very valid after revising the product. Multimedia is declared practical after a formative evaluation based on the acquisition of a very practical classification. Multimedia learning mathematics is effectively implemented in accordance with the learning outcomes of class VI B students at SD Negeri 109 Palembang. After being reviewed through the results of the percentage of 90% of children successfully achieving the KKM standard and the average value of N-gain is 0.54 with a medium classification. Pemanfaatan multimedia interaktif berpengaruh besar pada pendidikan, terutama pada matematika materi bagian-bagian, sifat-sifat bangun ruang balok dan kubus. Riset ini bertujuan yaitu menghasilkan multimedia yang valid, praktis, dan efektif. Siswa kelasV B SD Negeri 109 Palembang merupakan subjek dari uji lapangan. Konsep modifikasi pola pengembangan Hannafin dan Peck adalah pola yang digunakan pada penelitian ini, yang mempunyai 3 tahapan yakni menganalisis kebutuhan, kerangka bentuk, dan pengembangan beserta penerapan dengan evaluasi dan revisi di setiap tahapnya. Pengujian terhadap materi, desain, dan media dilakukan kepada ahli dan dinyatakan sangat valid setelah melakukan revisi produk. Multimedia dinyatakan praktis setelah dilakukan evaluasi formatif berdasarkan perolehan klasifikasi sangat praktis. Multimedia pembelajaran matematika efektif dilaksanakan sesuai dengan hasil pembelajaran peserta didik kelas VI B di SD Negeri 109 Palembang. Setelah ditinjau melalui hasil persentase 90% anak berhasil tercapai standar KKM serta besaran nilai rerata N-gain adalah 0,54 dengan klasifikasi sedang.

Abstract

In solving problems regarding linear programs, errors are often found, especially in determining feasible areas and optimum solutions. This research aims to analyze student errors in solving linear program problems using the LKPD-based Newman’s Error Analysis approach in the context of optimizing pempek production. This research used a qualitative descriptive method with the research subjects of three class X high school students selected based on test results. The instruments used are LKPDs that have gone through an expert validation stage (expert review) and problem-solving tests. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions based on Newman’s five stages, namely reading, comprehension, transformation, process skills, and encoding. The research results show that the most dominant errors occurred at the encoding stage, while process skills errors were only found in one research subject. These findings show that students still have difficulty understanding the concept of feasible regions and determining optimum solutions to linear programming problems. This research contributes as a basis for developing contextual LKPD-based linear programming learning and as evaluation material for teachers to get students used to writing complete and precise mathematical conclusions in solving linear programming problems. This research is expected to be the basis for designing more effective learning to minimize student errors.

Abstract

Study This aim For analyze need development of E-LKPD based on PMRI on material fractions For students of SDN 4 Air Balui , Musi Banyuasin . The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model ( Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation ). At this stage analysis needs , data collected through questionnaires distributed to students and teachers. Analysis results show that student own need tall towards digital- based E-LKPD which is interesting , contextual and supportive understanding draft fractions . As many as 59% of students strongly agree with relatedness draft with life daily , and 41% of students agree . Need towards digital learning media reached 49% strongly agree and 48% agree . This aspect clarity and ease presentation material assessed important by 55% of students who strongly agree and 45% who agree . For educators , PMRI -based E-LKPD is expected can help student understand draft fractions through experience real and improving skills think creative mathematical they. Findings This underline importance development of PMRI -based E-LKPD as a valid, practical and effective learning medium.

Abstract

The low level of statistical literacy among teachers and pre-service teachers poses a significant challenge to the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM). This community engagement activity aims to enhance statistical literacy through a workshop that integrates the issue of climate change. The workshop methodology involves conceptual sessions, practical instrument development, and evaluation through pretest and posttest. The integration of actual data from the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) and the application of the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach are key elements of the methodology. Evaluation results indicate a significant improvement in participants' understanding of statistical concepts and their ability to develop contextual assessment instruments. This approach has also proven effective in fostering critical awareness and data-based thinking skills. The workshop serves as a strategic step in strengthening statistical competencies among teachers and pre-service teachers, which is essential for building a solid foundation of data literacy in educational settings.

Abstract

Kemampuan koneksi matematika merupakan kompetensi esensial dalam pembelajaran matematika abad ke-21, karena memungkinkan siswa untuk mengaitkan konsep-konsep matematika dengan pengalaman nyata secara bermakna. Namun, berbagai studi menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan ini masih tergolong rendah di kalangan siswa Indonesia, salah satunya akibat keterbatasan instrumen penilaian yang relevan dan kontekstual. Pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) menawarkan paradigma pembelajaran berbasis konteks yang dapat mendorong pengembangan koneksi matematika secara lebih optimal. Untuk itu, diperlukan instrumen penilaian yang sejalan dengan karakteristik PMRI. Artikel ini mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan workshop penyusunan instrumen koneksi matematika berbasis PMRI, khususnya pada materi eksponen. Workshop dirancang sebagai forum kolaboratif antara akademisi dan praktisi pendidikan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas pendidik dalam menyusun instrumen penilaian yang valid, reliabel, dan aplikatif. Kegiatan meliputi sesi pengantar konseptual, praktik penyusunan soal dan rubrik penskoran, hingga evaluasi hasil kerja peserta. Hasil workshop menunjukkan bahwa peserta mampu mengembangkan instrumen yang mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip koneksi matematika dalam konteks PMRI. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga mendorong transformasi pengetahuan dan penguatan jejaring profesional dalam pengembangan instrumen penilaian. Workshop ini diharapkan menjadi model pengembangan kapasitas yang efektif dalam mendukung peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran matematika di Indonesia.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika yang masih berpusat pada guru seringkali menyebabkan rendahnya pengembangan karakter siswa, khususnya fleksibilitas berpikir dan kerja keras. Permasalahan ini juga ditemukan di SMP IT Salsabillah Rejang Lebong, sehingga diperlukan upaya untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang inovatif dan berorientasi pada penguatan karakter. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk workshop strategi pembelajaran matematika yang melibatkan 49 guru sebagai peserta. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan terdiri dari beberapa tahapan, yaitu penyampaian materi, diskusi, simulasi, dan refleksi. Workshop dirancang secara interaktif agar peserta dapat memahami konsep sekaligus memperoleh pengalaman praktis dalam merancang pembelajaran. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta berdasarkan hasil pretest dan posttest pada seluruh indikator, yaitu pemahaman konsep, strategi pembelajaran, fleksibilitas berpikir, dan kerja keras, dengan peningkatan rata-rata lebih dari 30%. Selain itu, peserta menunjukkan keterlibatan aktif selama kegiatan berlangsung. Dengan demikian, workshop strategi pembelajaran matematika efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru, baik secara konseptual maupun praktis, serta berkontribusi terhadap pengembangan pembelajaran yang inovatif dan berorientasi pada penguatan karakter siswa
