Abstract

This study aimed to identify and analyze derivational morphemes found in the Smile Brush Webtoon by Waroo, focusing on their types, word-formation processes, and their effects on word class and meaning. Derivational morphemes played an essential role in vocabulary expansion by changing grammatical categories and enriching lexical meaning. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method, using the morphological theory of Haspelmath and Sims (2010) to classify the data and focused on the role of affixation in word formation within digital media contexts. The data were collected from episodes 1 to 35 of the Webtoon, resulting in a total of 20 derivational morphemes, consisting of 16 suffixes and 4 prefixes. These morphemes were categorized into ten derivational processes, including verb to noun (dis-, -ment), adjective to noun (-ness), noun to noun (auto-, -ian), verb to verb (re-), noun to verb (un-), verb to adjective (-ful), noun to adjective (-less, -ous, -ful), and adjective to adverb (-ly). The most frequent derivation type was adjective to adverb, marked by the use of the suffix -ly, with a total of eight occurrences. The findings indicated that derivational morphemes significantly contributed to the transformation of grammatical categories and the expansion of word meanings. The dominance of suffix usage over prefixes suggested that suffixes were more productive in the morphological structure of digital narrative texts. This research provided insight into the use of derivational morphology in contemporary media and served as a reference for future linguistic analysis in digital content.

Abstract

The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) presents both opportunities and challenges in language learning, particularly in Indonesian syntax analysis, which is characterized by its flexible and complex structures. The main problem arises from AI limitations in accurately distinguishing syntactic functions, especially between objects, complements, and adverbials, which may lead to misinterpretations among students. This study aims to validate AI’s accuracy in sentence pattern analysis and to emphasize its role as a supporting tool rather than a primary authority in syntactic studies. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach with documentation techniques, the research analyzed 60 student-produced sentences processed by AI and compared them with conceptual analysis based on Chaer’s syntactic theory. Findings reveal that AI demonstrates relatively high accuracy in identifying subjects and predicates (90%), moderate accuracy in objects (80%), but lower accuracy in complements and adverbials (75%). These results highlight that while AI is useful for recognizing basic syntactic patterns, it remains weak in distinguishing between obligatory and optional grammatical functions. The implication is that AI integration in language learning must be accompanied by theoretical validation from students and lecturers to ensure that sentence analysis is not merely mechanical but grounded in comprehensive linguistic understanding.

Abstract

A learning model capable of integrating various literacies and disciplines is urgently needed to face the challenges of 21st-century learning. This need drives the development of the Multiliteracy Integrative Learning Model (MULGRANING) which focuses on language learning through the integration of various fields of science. This study aims to analyze the validity and practicality of the MULGRANING model. The research method used is research and development (RD) using the Plomp Nieeven model which consists of preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessment stage. Data were obtained through expert validation and limited trials on teachers and students at the high school level, namely at SMAN 2 Padang and SMAN 9 Padang. The results of the study indicate that the MULGRANING model has high validity in terms of material (92%), presentation (96%), language (84%), graphics (77%), model syntax (88%), social system (90%), reaction principle (84%), support system (91%), instructional and accompanying impact (88%). Furthermore, teachers and students rated this model as practical to implement, with an average student practicality score of 91% and a teacher practicality score of 95%. The model is categorized as very practical because it provides a clear learning flow, varied activities, and allows for the development of language skills and 21st-century skills. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that this model can be used as an alternative in the language learning process.

Abstract

Abstract: Character building is a crucial aspect of 21st-century education, particularly in the digital era, as students are frequently exposed to various digital content. However, its implementation still faces various challenges in the school environment, particularly in learning contexts that do not fully support the internalization of character values. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Multiliteracy Integrative Learning Model in strengthening students' character formation, particularly in terms of honesty, discipline, and responsibility. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with observation sheets as the main instrument. The research subjects consisted of students from two high schools selected purposively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with average calculations to interpret students' character tendencies. The results showed that students' character values were formed through teacher guidance interactions and habituation in the learning environment. In general, students showed a positive tendency in developing honesty, discipline, and responsibility, although more systematic and continuous reinforcement is needed in the learning process.Abstrak: Penguatan karakter merupakan aspek krusial dalam pendidikan abad ke-21, khususnya di era digital, karena pada era ini siswa kerap terpapar berbagai konten digital. Abstract

Articulation errors are often found in children. One of them is PA, 3.5 years old, a preschool student. This study aims to describe articulation errors shown by PA when communicating. This error will have a negative effect on PA if left without proper treatment. The author collected data by recording every word pronounced by PA according to the author's request. Then, the author pays attention to the articulation errors made and groups these errors into four types of articulation errors proposed by Fogle (2017). The author found three types of articulation errors that were often made by PA. PA shows a substitution error in the sound /s/ which changes to the sound /t/ if it is located at the end of the word. However, it changes to /c/ if it is located at the beginning and middle of a word. The sounds /r/ and /l/ change to /n/ when they are at the end of a word, but /r/ changes to /l/ when they are at the beginning and middle of a word. The /n/ sound will change to /ꬼ/ if it is in the middle of a word that has repeated sounds. The author also found omission errors, namely the sounds /g/, /k/, /d/, /j/ will be lost if they are at the beginning of the word. The sounds /l/ and /r/ will also disappear if they are in the middle of a word. Errors in adding sounds were found in the middle of words in the form of a nasal /m/ sound if followed by a /b/ sound and an /n/ sound if followed by a /d/ sound. Meanwhile, the sounds /n/ and /ꬼ/ will appear in the middle of words that have repeated sounds.

Abstract

Linguistic intelligence is one aspect that must be stimulated and utilized appropriately from an early age. Because young children often imitate what they hear and see. However, not all children are optimal in developing their linguistic intelligence. Several things related to linguistic intelligence include being able to convey what is thought through verbal means in the form of words. Therefore, children's learning processes need to be modified by applying role-playing learning methods. This research aims to prove the application of role playing in improving children's linguistic intelligence. This type of research is an experiment with a one group pretest and posttest design. The data for this research are scores from observations of children's linguistic intelligence. The research results show that the application of role playing methods in learning is proven to be able to improve and develop the linguistic intelligence of young children.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development needs of an e-LKPD assisted by the Live-Worksheets platform in reading and viewing lessons at SMA Negeri 2 Padang. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, focusing on the define phase in the 4-D development model. The research subjects consist of teachers and eleventh-grade students, with primary data collected through semi-structured interviews, student learning style questionnaires, and secondary data through documentation study. Data analysis techniques follow Creswell’s (2016) stages: data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results show that printed LKPD is still monotonous and lacks interactivity, not supporting the development of students' critical thinking and digital literacy skills. The student learning style questionnaire reveals a variety of preferences that are not fully accommodated by the printed LKPD. Students are more motivated by interactive features, multimedia, and automatic feedback found in the e-LKPD Live-Worksheets. This study also highlights the need for activities that support intensive reading skills and visual analysis, such as evaluating news accuracy and understanding visual elements in media. The integration of e-LKPD Live-Worksheets can enhance learning effectiveness, student engagement, as well as the development of critical thinking and digital literacy skills, taking into account diverse learning styles.
