Abstract

This study aims to examine how social media functions as a political education platform through the use of representative speech acts. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with representative speech act theory. Data were obtained from Ferry Irwandi's Instagram account (@irwandiferry) from January to August 2025. There were 35 posts focused on political and state issues in Indonesia. Data analysis revealed 145 representative speech acts. These representative speech acts comprised six forms: explaining, stating, showing, reminding, mentioning, and speculating. The results showed that explaining was the dominant representative speech act. These findings demonstrate that Ferry Irwandi strives to provide political insight, build understanding, foster public awareness, and encourage the public to be critical of government policies, rather than passively accepting them. The implications of this study confirm that social media, particularly Instagram, can be an effective platform for political literacy when used with argumentative, clear, and educative language strategies.

Abstract

The growing demand for personalized and engaging learning experiences in digital education highlights the limitations of conventional formative assessments. Many existing assessment practices fail to accommodate learner diversity and sustain motivation. This study aims to analyze students’ needs as a foundation for developing the DIGA-FAM Model (Differentiation Instruction and Game-Based Formative Assessment Model), which integrates differentiated instruction with game-based elements to create adaptive and enjoyable formative assessments. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected from 104 students through a structured questionnaire and analyzed across six indicators: comfort, interactivity, motivation, differentiation and difficulty level, learning opportunities, and feedback quality. The results show that students prefer formative assessments that are digital-based, interactive, engaging, and tailored to individual learning styles, with opportunities to retry and receive immediate, constructive feedback. These findings emphasize the necessity of developing the DIGA-FAM Model to enhance student engagement, support differentiated learning, improve the effectiveness of formative assessment in classrooms, and fosters meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

This study tested the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in teaching writing fiction review texts. This study took place in the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year using a quasi-experimental pre-test post-test single group design in class XI SMKN 3 Padang. The population of this study were students of class XI TKJ 2 who participated in learning activities to write fiction reviews before using the PjBL model and who participated in learning to write fiction reviews after using the PjBL model and submitted fiction review writing tests in each learning activity. They numbered 34 students. The sample was determined to be 32 students based on a statistical formula developed by Slavin. Data on writing fiction reviews were collected using a test for work on one of two short story texts provided. The test was compiled using a systematic and objective procedure using eleven indicators. The answer sheet was scored using a scoring rubric involving eleven indicators containing 80 maximum scores and 0 minimum scores. A checklist was used to internally validate the scoring results and the results of the data analysis. The research data were analyzed using parametric inferential statistical procedures, namely a one-sample t-test for each test result and a paired sample t-test to determine the effectiveness of the PjBL model in learning to write reviews of fictional works. The results of the study: 1) the results of learning to write fictional work review texts before using the PjBL model were in the low category; 2) the results of learning to write fictional work review texts after using the PjBL model were in the high category; 3) the PjBL model was effective for use in learning to write fictional work reviews in class XI of SMKN 3 Padang.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technologies has transformed online language learning, yet the integration of pedagogical structure and andragogic autonomy remains insufficiently synthesized. This study aims to systematically review how digital learning technologies are integrated with pedagogical and andragogical principles in online language learning and to develop an integrative conceptual framework. A PRISMA-guided systematic literature review was conducted on 15 peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and 2025, selected using the PICOS framework. The analysis employed thematic synthesis to identify patterns of technology use, pedagogical approaches, and andragogic principles. The findings show that technologies such as learning management systems, mobile learning, artificial intelligence, and immersive environments function as mediating tools linking structured pedagogical scaffolding with learner autonomy. However, their effectiveness is highly context-dependent and constrained by instructional design and learner readiness. Based on the synthesis, this study proposes the Integrated Pedagogical–Andragogical (IPA) Model, which conceptualizes technology as an epistemic mediator facilitating a gradual transition from guided instruction to self-directed learning. This review offers an integrative theoretical contribution to digital language education without making generalized causal claims.

Abstract

The role of mamak in Minangkabau customs has changed along with the development of social dynamics. This study aims to explain the social message in the speech act of complaining expressed by the character Mamak in the novel President by Wisran Hadi. This study uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method. Data in the form of words, sentences, and dialogues containing the speech act of complaining by the character Mamak were collected through reading, marking, and recording techniques. Data analysis was carried out by identifying the speech act of complaining, connecting it to the context of the speech, and interpreting the speaker's intent. The results of the study showed that there were 38 speech acts of complaining expressed by the character Mamak. These speech acts convey social messages related to the shifting role of mamak in Minangkabau customs, such as the lack of appreciation from younger sisters, the neglect of the role of mamak in customary matters that are the responsibility of men, and the weakening position of mamak in the Minangkabau social structure. Thus, through the speech of the character Mamak, the author conveys social criticism of the changes in customary values that occur in society. The implications of this study indicate that literature can be a reflective medium in understanding socio-cultural changes, especially in Minangkabau society.
