Abstract

Surya Multimedia is a service company that offers rental of multimedia equipment for events, conferences, and seminars such as LED videotrons, LCD projectors, projection screens, LCD/LED TVs and animated content based on concepts created and creative ideas. Depends on the theme of the event to be held. The multimedia solar company has good technical leasing procedures, but still uses a manual system for recording transactions. These records require an online recording system. This overcomes problems such as the difficulty of obtaining certain information related to financial reporting and customer data, which can result in less-than-optimal company performance. The design of a web-based information system in a six-month trial from January to June 2021 resulted in 100% real-time data delivery and the ability to manage customer and transaction data available online. More respondents agree that the information about leasing systems for multimedia solar companies is good. Abstract

Although the empowerment of critical thinking (CT) has become an international concern that needs to be developed in the biology learning process for high school students, there still needs to be more relevant research literature. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of implementing reading, questioning, and answering strategies integrated with creative problem solving (RQA-CPS) with RQA, CPS, and discussion strategies. This method used the pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design for one semester using four classes. We designed that the experimental group was taught with RQA-CPS, the control-I group was taught with RQA, the control-II group was taught with CPS, and the control-III group was taught with DP. This research involved 129 high school students in four classes with the topics Plantae, Animalia, Ecology and Environmental Change. These four topics are classified as complex material that requires CT to be able to understand in depth. The results showed that high school students' CT increased in all four classes, but the RQA-CPS group experienced the most significant increase and was significantly different compared to the other three control groups. Thus, the RQA-CPS strategy should be used in learning to improve students' CT.

Abstract

Nearly one in five pupils in OECD nations do not possess the fundamental knowledge and abilities necessary to get by in today's communities (OECD, 2019), which is a sign of exclusion. There is an unfairness in that students from low socioeconomic origins are twice as likely to be low performers, suggesting that social or personal factors prevent them from fulfilling their educational potential. This study intends to investigate the achievement of the 21st Century Biology Skills Test (21CBST) and to compare it to students’ level of socio-economic status. The result (TIMSS) (2015) revealed that Indonesian students failed to achieve minimum standards in Science and Mathematics, with 33.3% achievement in science and 35% in mathematics for content domain and 33,3% in the cognitive domain. Comprising 37 multiple choice items, the 21st Century Biology Skills Test (21C-BST) includes representatives from five domains which are; i) Digital Age Literacy, ii) Inventive Thinking, iii) Effective Communication, iv) High Productivity, and v) Religion, Health and Civic. The respondents comprised 210 form students who took biology subject in school. The study revealed that students from high socio-economic status scored higher than their counterparts from low socioeconomic status. This paper concludes with some practical suggestions for improving students’ 21st-century skills, particularly within the context of biology teaching and learning.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the connection between students’ retention and critical thinking skills in diverse academic skills in biology learning. The research samples were 202 tenth-grade students in the second semester who learned biology. A class equivalence test determined four high and four low academic skills classes. An essay test was employed in this study to examine retention and critical thinking skills. The study indicates a significant connection between students’ retention and critical thinking skills in various academic skills in high school biology learning. High academic skills have a lower contribution of critical thinking skills to retention than low academic skills. Students’ less serious learning attitudes and practices give a low contribution of critical thinking skills to retention in high academic skills. The regression equation lines between students’ retention and critical thinking skills in diverse academic skills are not parallel and do not coincide. The regression equation line for low academic skills seems steeper than that for high ones. It means that students’ retention improvement rate due to the influence of critical thinking skills in high academic skills is lower than in low academic skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze classroom interactions in the reflective teaching practice based on learning objectives and types of interactions, types of student questions and answers, and gender and student achievement. Teacher-student interactions, particularly in reflective learning, have been discussed in depth in urban schools. However, few studies reported the interactions between teachers and students in remote areas. The data collected for this cross-sectional study are part of a broader longitudinal research project. The participants comprised 46 students and 4 teachers from 3 remote schools representing 3 districts in Indonesia. The results showed that most of the teacher-student interactions in reflective teaching practice contained feedback that focused on students' correct and incorrect answers yet rarely discussed how students got answers. Teacher reflection was evaluative by discussing matters related to learning objectives. While reflections have not yet been related to the teacher’s method. This study also reported that gender and achievement did not affect the reflective teaching practice.
