Abstract

Examining the efficacy of extended reading activities in enhancing eleventh graders' reading comprehension at SMA Katolik Cenderawasih Makassar was the primary goal of the study. The levels of pupils' literal, interpretive, and critical understanding were examined in this study. With the use of pre-and post-tests, the study was conducted using a pre-experimental approach. A total of 150 pupils from SMA Katolik Cenderawasih Makassar made up the study's population. Eighteen tenth graders served as the sample for this study. We used pre-and post-tests to get our data. Both the pre-and post-tests were narrative-text reading assessments. Results from the study demonstrated a statistically significant change between the pre-and post-treatment assessments. The average pre-test score for reading comprehension was 75.00. Students' reading comprehension scores improved by 11,42% as a result. The outcome of the data analysis will determine After the exam, the average score was 86.42, up from 75.00 before. The results show an improvement between the pre-and post-test scores, with the post-test mean score being higher than the pre-test mean score (86.42>75.00). The result was a 13.92% increase in performance between the pre-and post-tests. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, we may say that the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) is correct and that the Null Hypothesis (H0) is wrong. The study's author deduced this conclusion from the fact that pupils' reading comprehension levels were significantly different before and after the intervention. H1 was accepted as the alternative hypothesis while H0 was rejected as the null hypothesis. With a mean value of 0.4532, the N-Gain score falls into the "moderate" group when categorized. Therefore, the study's premise was that students' reading comprehension would be worse off if teachers used lengthy reading activities. Keywords: Reading Comprehension, Extensive Reading, Literal, Interpretative, Critical

Abstract

Tauhid-based education plays a crucial role in shaping the spiritual character of young children. This study aims to analyze the implementation of tauhid learning and its influence on the development of children's spiritual character at Waladun Shalih Integrated Islamic Kindergarten in Palopo City. A qualitative case study approach was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of tauhid-oriented educational practices within an integrated Islamic school environment. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving the principal, teachers, staff, and group B children (aged 5–6 years) as research subjects. The findings reveal that tauhid learning is implemented in a structured manner through thematic approaches and daily spiritual activities such as collective prayer, Dhuha prayer, morning dhikr, and the introduction of Asmaul Husna. Teachers serve as role models in spirituality and behavior, functioning as direct media for instilling tauhid values. The formation of children's spiritual character is further supported by a religious school environment and active parental involvement through parenting programs. These results affirm that the implementation of tauhid learning significantly contributes to building the foundation of faith and spiritual character in early childhood

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Family Planning (KB) program through the Male Operation Method (MOP) in Widodomartani Village, Sleman Regency in 2024. Using the theoretical framework of Edward III and Grindle, the research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with data obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that program implementation has been systematically carried out through planning, socialization, registration, service delivery, and evaluation. Various strategies were used, including formal meetings, door-to-door approaches, involvement of Male Family Planning Groups, and the use of social media platforms such as YouTube. In terms of resources, both funding and medical personnel support were adequate. Nevertheless, male participation remained low, with a declining number of participants between 2022 and 2024. Contributing factors include social stigma, misconceptions about MOP, and limited participant quotas. Additionally, cultural perceptions such as the assumption that men undergoing MOP are more likely to engage in extramarital affairs also hinder participation. On the other hand, socialization targeting women proved more effective, as mothers play a decisive role in family planning decisions. The study concludes that improving MOP effectiveness requires comprehensive education for men, inclusive communication strategies for couples, and stronger support from health workers and community leaders to eliminate negative stigma.

This research aims to examine the extent to which transparency is implemented in infrastructure development in Tanete Village and how financial management mechanisms are applied. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, employing observation, interviews, and documentation with village officials and community members. The findings indicate that transparency efforts have been made through open access todocuments, information dissemination, and public participation in deliberations. However, challenges remain in community literacy and the effectiveness of information delivery. This study highlights the importance of effective communication and active community participation to achieve transparent and accountable village financial governance.

Abstract

This study explored students’ perceptions of the flipped classroom model in English teaching at SMAN 3 Sinjai. The flipped classroom, an innovative teaching approach, encourages students to study learning materials before class, enabling active participation during in-class sessions. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with 12 students and classroom observations. Findings revealed that students generally had positive perceptions of the flipped classroom. They appreciated its flexibility, prior access to materials, and opportunities for interactive discussions. However, challenges such as technological barriers, lack of direct support at home, and varying levels of student motivation were also noted. The study highlights the need for strategies to address these challenges and maximize the benefits of the flipped classroom in enhancing English learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of online games as a medium on speaking skills. These 4 fundamental English skills are speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The majority of people prefer speaking as their primary mode of communication. In Indonesia, English is a foreign language limited to classroom learning and is rarely used in everyday life, especially in speaking. So, some students need help with mastering English in speaking. Many students nowadays like playing online games as a hobby because Online Games have a worldwide server, so they can communicate with others using English. Online games have good and bad effects on learning, particularly when learning a new language. Most use online games as learning techniques and a friendly approach to learning English. This quantitative research uses a sample of 30 students at the language and literature faculty of Makassar State University. Data collection in this study used a questionnaire distributed by purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression (F-Test) and descriptive statistical analysis techniques. The results showed that the influence of online games on students' speaking ability had an effect of 43.4%. It can also be seen that the average student playing time is 2 hours, with the type of game most often played being FPS (First Person Shooter).
