Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a global chronic disease caused by the interaction of genetic and environmental factors. The use of genetic data offers great potential for early detection and personalized intervention. However, the complex analysis of genetic data requires sophisticated approaches like machine learning. This study aims to compare the performance of three machine learning algorithms Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) in predicting T2DM risk based on genetic data. By using a Systematic Literature Review of studies published between 2019 and 2024, the accuracy data from each algorithm was compared. The analysis results show that Random Forest has the best performance with an accuracy of 99.3%. This algorithm excels due to its ability to handle high-dimensional datasets and reduce overfitting. In comparison, KNN achieved an accuracy of 87% and Logistic Regression 82%. These findings support the integration of machine learning into early detection systems and more precise and efficient clinical decision-making for T2DM management.

Abstract

This study examines the suitability of the IPFS as a decentralized architecture for secure digital data exchange. Traditional centralized protocols, such as HTTP, introduce structural vulnerabilities, including single points of failure, metadata exposure, and susceptibility to interception or unauthorized modification. As digital data exchange becomes increasingly essential in various sectors, ensuring data security and privacy has become a growing concern. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate IPFS’s ability to address these vulnerabilities and enhance the security and privacy of digital data-sharing environments. This research employs a structured literature review to synthesize findings from distributed-systems research, cryptographic studies, and peer-to-peer networking analyses. Additionally, the study benchmarks IPFS against traditional storage protocols, such as HTTP and FTP, to assess its advantages and limitations. The results demonstrate that IPFS offers significant advantages, including content-addressed storage, Merkle-DAG verification, and decentralized peer replication. These features improve fault tolerance, ensure data integrity, and reduce the risks of data tampering. However, limitations, such as content availability and reliance on node uptime, are also noted. While IPFS is not a complete security solution, it provides a strong foundational architecture for privacy-preserving, distributed data-sharing workflows when paired with complementary cryptographic and governance frameworks, making it a viable alternative for secure digital data exchange.

Abstract

Microorganisms from high natural radiation environments hold potential as bioremediation agents for radioactive waste. In this study, isolation and selection of fungi from Mamuju high natural radiation soil was done for radioactive bioremediation. The methods included fungal isolation from soil samples, radiosensitivity tests, sensitivity tests to uranium and thorium, and absorption tests under gamma radiation (100 Gy hour-1). Results revealed three fungal isolates with high growth ratios and resistance to gamma radiation: Talaromyces flavus (A3), Gongronella butleri (A4), and Aspergillus sp. (F1). Isolates A3 and A4 survived up to 2 kGy, while F1 endured up to 8 kGy. At 24 hours, A3 absorbed uranium at 96% with a biomass of 0.73 g and thorium at 84% with 0.98 g biomass. A4 achieved the highest uranium absorption of 97% (biomass 4.11 g) and thorium absorption of 100% (biomass 0.74 g). F1 demonstrated 96% uranium absorption (biomass 1.29 g) and 87% thorium absorption (biomass 2.17 g). These isolates exhibited significant potential for bioremediation of uranium and thorium-contaminated environments, showing unique adaptations to high radiation conditions and effective radioactive metal uptake.

Abstract

Robust governance constitutes a crucial foundation for the sustainability and competitiveness of the Islamic financial industry. This study aims to analyze the role of transparency and accountability as two main pillars of Islamic financial governance, focusing on their implementation, effectiveness, and impact. The discussion is centered on three key research questions: (1) the implementation and challenges of transparency and accountability in profit-sharing products (mudharabah and musyarakah), (2) the effectiveness of the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB) in ensuring sharia accountability and transparency and its influence on public trust, and (3) the significant impact of disclosure transparency and accountability levels on financial performance and institutional stability. The literature review indicates that although the implementation of transparency and accountability in profit-sharing products faces challenges such as information asymmetry and accounting complexity, the effectiveness of the SSB—supported by independence and competence—has proven to be a catalyst for enhancing public trust. Furthermore, commitment to transparency and accountability is not merely a fulfillment of sharia principles but is also positively correlated with improved financial performance (such as profitability) and institutional stability through mechanisms that reduce the cost of capital and enhance resilience to crises. The study concludes that strengthening these two pillars represents a sustainable business strategy. Accordingly, recommendations are proposed for Islamic financial institutions, regulatory authorities, Sharia Supervisory Boards, and the public to synergistically promote more transparent and accountable governance practices in order to realize an Islamic financial system that is not only profitable but also resilient and trusted.
