Abstract

The rapid development of technology has greatly facilitated various daily activities, including communication. Several social media platforms enable users to connect with one another easily. However, this progress often comes with negative impacts. One such impact is cyberbullying, which has become a growing concern. To address this issue, many researchers have proposed solutions for detecting cyberbullying. Among these, the Support Vector Machine (SVM) method is commonly used because it delivers more accurate results compared to other algorithms. However, determining the optimal kernel parameters for SVM remains a challenge. To overcome this, various search algorithms have been suggested to optimize SVM parameters. This study utilizes a genetic algorithm to find the optimal values for the C and gamma parameters. The results demonstrate an accuracy improvement, with the genetic algorithm achieving an accuracy of 86%. This highlights the effectiveness of genetic algorithms in optimizing SVM parameters for cyberbullying detection.

Abstract

This study examines the application of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithms in detecting pests on water spinach plants using two CNN architectures: MobileNetV2 and VGG16. Monitoring diseased leaves during the plant growth phase is a critical step, and AI-based solutions are essential to enhance the accuracy of automated pest detection. In this research, a dataset of water spinach leaf images, both pest-infected and healthy, was collected to train the two CNN architectures. MobileNetV2 was selected for its ability to deliver high performance with low computational complexity, while VGG16 was used as a benchmark due to its deeper architecture and widespread use in various image recognition tasks. The testing results indicate that MobileNetV2 achieved a detection accuracy of 84%, while VGG16 yielded an accuracy of 83%. Thus, MobileNetV2 is considered superior for this pest detection application as it provides a balance between high accuracy and optimal computational efficiency. The study concludes that MobileNetV2 is a more suitable architecture for pest detection systems in water spinach plants, particularly for applications requiring high performance on resource-constrained devices.

Abstract

Brain tumor classification using MRI images is a significant challenge in medical diagnosis, requiring models with high accuracy and efficient training. This study aims to compare the performance of three Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models—ResNet50, VGG16, and MobileNetV2—for brain tumor classification based on MRI images. The dataset consists of four brain tumor categories: glioma, meningioma, pituitary, and no tumor, with data split into training, validation, and testing sets. Each model was evaluated using metrics including accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, specificity, and training time to assess their effectiveness in predicting brain tumors with optimal accuracy and efficiency. Experimental results indicate that VGG16 achieved the best overall performance, with an accuracy of 94.93%, precision of 94.68%, and specificity of 98.33%, while also having the shortest training time of 47.15 minutes. MobileNetV2 demonstrated strong performance with a recall of 94.08% but required a longer training time of 79.53 minutes. ResNet50 recorded the lowest accuracy (91.67%) despite excelling in precision (91.79%), but it underperformed in recall (91.25%) and specificity (97.2%). Overall, this study confirms that VGG16 is the most efficient and effective model for MRI-based brain tumor classification.

Abstract

The secondary school period is a crucial time for the development of students' academic and social performance. Educational data mining (EDM) has emerged as a strategic method capable of exploring patterns in educational data to predict academic performance based on various factors, including students' personalities. However, the imbalance in educational data remains an issue that can lead to bias in predictive models. This study aims to identify the factors contributing to the academic performance in mathematics of junior high school students, such as academic, demographic, and Big Five personality factors. The Random Forest method and SMOTE oversampling technique are employed to identify components that contribute to students' academic performance and to enhance the performance of the predictive model. The research indicates that academic factors are significant, while socio-economic and personality factors are less significant in relation to academic performance. Additionally, the application of the SMOTE technique proves effective in addressing data imbalance, and the Random Forest model demonstrates optimal performance with appropriate tuning. The combination of Random Forest, hyperparameter tuning using GridSearchCV, and SMOTE successfully develops a model with an accuracy rate of 99%.

Abstract

Sentiment analysis has become an important aspect of understanding user opinions regarding a product or service, including in the gaming industry. This study implements a combination of Word2Vec and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models to analyze the sentiment of user reviews for the game Mobile Legends, obtained from the Google Play Store. The dataset used comprises 100,000 reviews that have undergone preprocessing stages such as text cleaning, tokenization, and stopword removal. The Word2Vec model is employed to represent the text in the form of numerical vectors, while LSTM is used to predict the sentiment of the reviews. Evaluation results indicate that this model achieves an accuracy of 87.88%, demonstrating the effectiveness of this method in classifying user sentiment. Further analysis reveals that the majority of user reviews are positive, with words such as "good," "exciting," and "awesome" frequently appearing in the word cloud. This research can provide insights for game developers in understanding user opinions and serve as a reference for the application of deep learning in sentiment analysis within the gaming industry.

Abstract

This study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that comprehensively reviews the recent advances in YOLOv8-based object detection models and their implementations in various application fields, such as UAV aerial photography, fruit ripeness identification, road defect detection, forest fire smoke detection, and medical imaging. This study evaluates the performance of YOLOv8 based on precision, recall, F1-score, and mean average precision (mAP) metrics, and compares its advantages and limitations with previous YOLO versions and other object detection algorithms. Improvements in the YOLOv8 architecture, including attention mechanisms, improved feature extraction, and hyperparameter optimization, enable significant improvements in accuracy and computational efficiency, especially for small objects and low-light conditions. In addition, the integration of image enhancement techniques strengthens the model's performance in challenging environmental conditions. This study is expected to be an important reference for researchers and practitioners in developing YOLOv8-based object detection models for real-world applications.

Abstract

The rapid development of electric vehicles (EVs) has encouraged various industrial sectors, including logistics, to transition from fossil fuel-based vehicles to more environmentally friendly solutions. While EVs offer advantages such as energy efficiency, reduced carbon emissions, and lower operating costs, selecting the right electric vehicle for a logistics company is not a straightforward task. The main challenge lies in the wide variety of available models, each with different technical and operational specifications. This complexity increases as companies must consider multiple criteria such as price, payload capacity, vehicle width, battery capacity, and cargo volume. Therefore, a systematic approach is needed to support decision-making. One commonly used approach is the Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) method. This study introduces the Simple Selection Index (SSI) method, a newly developed MCDM approach designed as a simplified version of the Preference Selection Index (PSI) method. The novelty of SSI lies in its ability to eliminate complex steps such as the calculation of preference variation values and preference deviation scores, making the ranking process more concise and easier to apply—without compromising the accuracy of the results. The study aims to evaluate the performance of the SSI method in selecting the most suitable electric vehicle by directly comparing its results with those of the PSI method, using a dataset comprising four vehicle alternatives and five key criteria: price, payload, width, battery capacity, and cargo volume. The findings show that the SSI method produces an identical ranking to the PSI method, with EV-4 as the top recommendation and EV-1 as the second-best alternative. With its more efficient process, the SSI method holds strong potential for application in fast and straightforward multi-criteria decision-making scenarios.

Abstract

Student graduation is an important indicator in accreditation and serves as part of quality management strategies in higher education. Therefore, early prediction of student graduation is necessary to improve the effectiveness of data-driven admission decision-making. Differences in student graduation rates are influenced by a combination of academic, demographic, economic, and family factors. This study applies the Stacking Ensemble Learning method by combining Random Forest, K-Nearest Neighbors, and Support Vector Machine, with XGBoost serving as the meta-learner. The dataset used integrates student admission records and graduation status reports from the NeoFeeder PDDikti system, covering 16 academic and non-academic feature variables. The model was evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and Area Under the Curve (AUC). The results show that the stacking ensemble model outperformed single models, achieving 82% accuracy, a weighted F1-score of 80%, and an AUC of 87.15% on the test data. These findings contribute both the selected feature set and the implementation of an ensemble model for building a machine learning–based prediction system, particularly in addressing data imbalance and improving classification accuracy.
